Good day. I just want to say thank you for all the great training videos. With your help, I used to be an 18 handicap and in 6 months of watching and practicing your training, I am now a 10 handicap. I am 58 years young and have never played so well in my life. Keep up the good training videos. Maybe I can get down to a 5 handicap.
Thank you for this video. I was completely lost on pitching doing the "S" thing and worse! Followed your steps and got the right feel back and consistent contact and direction. Thank you so much again!
I've watched all your chipping and pitching lessons and have been applying them when I play. I'm now ending up on or infront of the green and rarely roll off the back. No I need to work on feel for my distances to get closer to the pin. These have been very effective easy to understand lessons for me. Thank you very much. Now I better start watching your putting lessons!
Great video Danny. When I was growing up one of my favourite golfers was Fred Couples. I could never really understand how he seemed to have such a smooth easy swing yet hit it for miles. After my lesson and studying your videos a lot recently I’m finally becoming able to use my legs, gravity and mechanics to keep my swing under control to minimise mishits and errors, but hit straighter and longer. I’m swinging smoother and with better tempo with no loss of distance. Your teaching has hugely increased my enjoyment and ability of golf. I’m not quite Fred level yet though…. - maybe another 12 months!
tried this out on the range the weekend before our weekly clubnite competition. took it to the course & saw a great improvement in my approach shots. i'm confident that i now have a technique i can work on & i will definitely be on the range this weekend to continue dialing in my technique as well as my distances. thanks danny...💯
Danny, your description of the turn being a "pivot" as opposed to a "turn" is an enlightening tool. You've used it for full swings lessons previously, and it works for the short game nicely as well, per today's lesson. Thanks!
Its amazing how many lesson ive had and the pro.s never include how important the pivot is ! Its always the hands at the top ! Another easy to understand lesson !
So glad I came across your channel. I've watched lots of others but the way you show common mistakes and how to correct them is awesome. You make it so much simpler and easier. Obviously golf is neither easy or simple but your lessons and drills have made the game easier, more fun and less frustrating for me. Thank you and keep up the great work!
This is a great tip, i often find myself rushing through the shot, keeping both arms straight but forgetting to rotate the hips. I assume the same method applies for shorter chips , like 10-15’ ?
Many thanks Another great instructional video lesson. After many years of attempting to play golf off and on ( I’m 68 ) and having watched numerous RUclips golf video’s yours is now the only channel I am subscribed to. I find they are not over complicated with technical jargon but simply explained and easy to follow. I find they compliment the golf lessons I have just started to have ( a bit late you might say ) I actually enjoy going to the range now. Many thanks keep up the great work
Your chipping and especially your pitching videos took my game to the next level. I am regularly shooting 2 to 5 over par but recently I had a round even par and another round -2 under par. I transitioned that pitching rhythm and form to my long game. Previously I was hitting 15 to 20 over par mostly because of 80 yards and in. I have lost significant distance with my 8 iron and up because of slower swing but the accuracy is through the roof and mishits and more rare.
Hey Danny. I wanted to thank you for your videos. I’m beginning to see results from them. All areas areas are improving. On & around the green, ball striking ,& the drive. I broke 80 for the first time in a decade ! 43-36. Thanks from Brantford, Ontario, Canada.
Hi Danny, Watching and applying your instruction has got me from shooting hi 80’s to low 70’s. Thank you for the easy to understand mechanics of golf 👍
Great as always Danny, I came across you doing a video for seniors several years ago with regards mobility and rotation in the swing, I have to play with a back support due to lower back/disc/muscle issues so my rotation is affected any chance of doing a new/revised vid not just for the senior golfer, I’m only the ripe old age of 38 👍
I am 78, been playing for 58 years, never been a member of a club.read books watched thousands of videos over the years and took several lessons from golf pros . my game never seem to improve . This past winter I started watching your videos , no others just yours. My game has finally improved . hitting the ball further , straighter and hitting more greens that I ever did.I would have to say, you are one of the very best teachers on you tub. THANK YOU DANNY and keep up the good work
Great explanation, Danny. So simple. There's always the problem that the older I get, the less my body cares what my brain wants it to do. But I'm feeding my body the things YOU want it to do and maybe I'll get a better result. Thanks.
So I took this straight to the course, this morning. 1st hole 80 yds to the pin stiffed it. It really works. Anything from around the green to the rough . Didn't do too well from over 100 yds though . So only chipping and pitching. Thank you Danny another great lesson 👍
This is the best chip video ever!! I done this today and I holed a 40 yard chip shot with a 60 degree lob wedge. Thanks for the advice Danny my name is Abdel Khan from the Facebook live feed this morning you helped me about slicing the driver , I did the draw like you said and I was hitting straight ones down the fairway 😊👍🏻
@@DanielMaude Thanks Danny I love golf and I try and get as many friends in to the sport. I am a high handicapper around 22 but I pull off some good shots 😄
Great instruction right here. It took me forever to develop the more up and down feel/motion on my pitch shots - had I seen this video earlier it would have saved me a lot of time and headache. I think these same concepts could be applied to the full swing as well - basically how you have to balance the vertical motion of the club (side bend) with the horizontal (torso rotation) to be a great ball striker. Maybe you've already done a video like this Danny? I'd love to hear your take on how much the vertical-to-horizontal balance varies throughout the bag - if at all.
Absolutely, with golfers that slice for instance. Having more side bend away from target going through can help push path further right and reduce slice
I just got a 56-degree wedge, and I am having a problem with getting any distance when pitching, this video seem to be Stright forward and I think will help me a lot. thanks .
This is the part of my game that ruins a good round for me. I've recently started spending 1 hour a week practisinging this element of me game . I pitch and chip from different distances using your pitching and chipping techniques. Thanks again for your videos
Really good video Have always struggled with some types of chips but this L move idea really good. I have tried it and already chipping better and closer to the pin more often
Great help! My wedge direction is 10 times better with few errors. I'm a big guy that has to be aware of baseball swing. I have found that if I don't let my left shoulder past my chin on my takeaway my results are much better. Thanks!
Hi Danny. Great lesson as usual but here's a thing that I use and I never chunk a chip from fifty yards in. I make sure that body is taken out of it and it really is just an "up and down arm swing" by drawing my back foot (right foot) back at least six inches up to one foot. The club travels straight through so I make great contact and never pull shots left. Providing my aim is good I am confident I can get up and down for no more than three shots at worst.
Hi Danny. I'm 64 yrs old and am just returning to golf after a 40 yr gap!! Your video's are great, clear, precise, and repetitive, which are helping me a lot! I haven't searched your playlist so, I don't know if you do a beginners guide to the golf swing, driver & iron from setup, back swing, forward swing and follow through, but if you haven't I'm sure it would be a great help to people like me. Thanks.
Thanks Danny! Great to see this, as approach shots within 100 yards are my Achilles heal! I was trying to extend your "jar lid" swing thought for pitches to longer shots, but became too wooden, and often left shots short or bladed shots when I'd try to rotate faster and post up at impact. You may have done this already, but I'd love to see you do a video where you go from chip to pitch to approach and highlight the differences in technique between these shots.
Danny, thoroughly enjoying your video's here in Burlington, Ontario, Canada !! Can you do a video on hitting shots, (irons/hybrids/fairway woods with uphill, downhill, slidehill lie's ?? I hit a great drive and the ball lands on any of the above lie's and I guarantee you my next shot will be Crap! I just don't know how or what to do when I'm faced with these types of lie's.....as always, keep up the great work !! Kevin
Aye...it took me about 8 hours of practice, last week, to figure out the importance of tilt and a more upright swing with these kind of shots.I should have waited until today and watched a few minutes of your video! Great work, Danny.....
Thanks Danny! I have been struggling with my wedges, it has been killing my score......... I used this the other day and didn't skull or chunk any of my pitch shots.
Thanks Danny, great tip, definitely will give it a go. I was gonna ask about spin and distance control but I see you covered these in the comments. Can you talk about pitch n run shots in a future video? ⛳️👍
Hi Danny, the main problem I have with my swing is that I bend my knees when coming down, I didn't even realise I was doing it until my friend recorded me. Any tips on this? Brilliant vids really helping a beginner like myself
Love your videos! Can I ask you to do a video on full wedges distances? Like 100m or 110 yards? Many of us amateurs either lay-up to full wedge distances or play from tees that leave us full wedge distances on many par 4s. Do you do anything different?
My feel for this is to pivot my back to the target, feeling that I stay on top of the ball all the while. The rest seems to take care of itself. If you ever make a sleep-aid product with the top Danny Maude tips playing in a soothing, continuous loop, let me know.
Great video as per usual. Have really come to rely on ypur tips each week, thank so much. Little bit confused though. Where is the other stuff you talked about I.e. distance control, getting the ball to stop etc Thanks
Wow 56 I'd be using a 6-iron no but man thank you you're an awesome instructor I am very handsy it helps me a lot when my body is not doing what it's supposed to but when my body does would have supposed to the hands are still there how do I get rid of that
hi Danny in the video you mentioned you woud also talk aboutaleb distance control… I think you skipper that, would be interesting to see and hear you cover that otherwsie great tip as always 👍🏻🏌️♂️ cheers Paul
Sorry about that Paul, completely forgot. Different ways to do it 1. Through speed of swing 2. Through length of swing 3. Change of club 4. Choke down the club to hit it shorter
Helpful video. At what distance(s) do you open or close your stance (feet width apart)? For shorter chips, closed feet and longer pitches (40-100 yds) more open? Also ball position within the feet or at back foot/front foot?
when you feel you need more balance as the pace of your swing increases begin to widen your stance. Move the ball forward and back depending on whether you would like a low or high flight
I am currently working on developing shot for 50 metres which I am currently fine tuning on the range Once that is done I am going to a 30 metre shot I think it is gonna be a great asset when I have a "shot" for those finicky distances and I ain't standing there trying to guess how to hit a shot when I am in the middle of nowhere distances
Thanks for the video. Again, loved it. At 3:54 you mention that you'll be talking about distance control. I must have missed your comments later. WHy do pros sometimes use a 9 iron as a pitch shot for a distance that a normal 9 iron would go 2 or 3 times that distance. How do you judge which iron to use?
Great help Danny, as ever! Another one to practice on the course tomorrow. My game is improving thanks to your videos, which help to keep the mind demons at bay when in play too 😆
Great video Danny and very timely for me. How much different should that rotation/side bend be for iron shots? I just realized this week that I need more feeling of side bend in my short irons and wedges, just like you described. I’m trying to figure out how to blend that motion up through my long irons, where I seem to do it fine without thinking about it
Fantastic video! Simple explanation and instruction. At the 2:25 mark you talk about rotation. I had an instructor trying to get me to rotate more on these shots and it was so much effort to get the club back around to the ball. THIS is what I needed to see. Thank you!
Thanks for a another great tip. I have drop 4 shots watching your videos and I think that this will be one very important for me and I can start to see a single figure handicap very soon. I would really like your thoughts on how much is it your hands vs the twist through the ball?
Would the unscrew the barrel lid feeling work for the feet with this one? Perfect video for me this one, last couple if rounds I’ve put myself in great positions then just missing greens (mostly left) from 50-100 yards in
Control your distance either with speed of swing, length of swims or change of club. Backspin comes from premium ball, sharp grooves on club and this strike
The world is going upside down, but I find time for Danny's golf videos!
Thanks for being here 👍

WHy do pros sometimes use a 9 iron as a pitch shot for a distance that a normal 9 iron would go 2 or 3 times that distance. How do you judge which iron to use?
Nice one Danny!
Thanks James 😁
Great help Danny, as ever! Another one to practice on the course tomorrow. My game is improving thanks to your videos, which help to keep the mind demons at bay when in play too 😆
Keep it going Bob
Great lesson, looks like slight reverse pivot at top of backswing ?not much weightshift
Not much weight shift with the wedges
Would you recommend using a bigger version of this for a full swing?
Absolutely Mark
Great video Danny and very timely for me. How much different should that rotation/side bend be for iron shots? I just realized this week that I need more feeling of side bend in my short irons and wedges, just like you described. I’m trying to figure out how to blend that motion up through my long irons, where I seem to do it fine without thinking about it
Many golfers don’t get enough side bend with their swings as they swing too much with the arms
@@DanielMaude thanks Danny!
Fantastic video! Simple explanation and instruction. At the 2:25 mark you talk about rotation. I had an instructor trying to get me to rotate more on these shots and it was so much effort to get the club back around to the ball. THIS is what I needed to see. Thank you!
Great vid Danny. Can't findanything on curing my occasional hook (especially on the first tee!!) Do you have anything?
Will create something soon for you
Thanks for a another great tip. I have drop 4 shots watching your videos and I think that this will be one very important for me and I can start to see a single figure handicap very soon. I would really like your thoughts on how much is it your hands vs the twist through the ball?
Hands are very passive
Would the unscrew the barrel lid feeling work for the feet with this one?
Perfect video for me this one, last couple if rounds I’ve put myself in great positions then just missing greens (mostly left) from 50-100 yards in
Absolutely 👍
Great as ever. Thanks Danny. You did mention at the beginning you were going to talk about distance control and spin?
Control your distance either with speed of swing, length of swims or change of club. Backspin comes from premium ball, sharp grooves on club and this strike
Thanks. Do you have a recommendation re sharpening grooves?
