the smokeless chimneys (hollidaysburg, pa)

In this video, lastadventurer takes to a local park known as Chimney Rocks. It got its name because of the very chimney rocks that sit near the top of the mountain. Not only is this park a great place to see gorgeous views of the town of Hollidaysburg, but it also has a pavilion, many sitting areas, and a big field for various activities such as frisbee or playing with the dog!
This place also has quite a bit of history, with the most recent bit being that it was a stone quarry. The base of the cliffs where there is now a field, was where these operations were based. Local word claims that there even used to be a scrapyard of sorts here! But to top that off, there are stories of Native Americans once inhabiting this area and using the height of this mountain to overlook what was once lush forest and is now the town of Hollidaysburg!
I hope you enjoy and just remember, if you are ever driving through Hollidaysburg and see a lit star in the mountain, you’re looking at Chimney Rocks!!

Chimney Rocks! You can see my house from there! Rumor has it the indians used the upper part as a lookout. Yes, Hollidaysburg had indians back in the 1800's. The borough cleared a bunch of brush from the upper lookout last year.
