I routed the engine loom differently - from alternator round front of engine above water pump where there was a p clip, around the engine where it plugged into the main loom and oil pressure gauge then around back of engine to starter motor. This was how mine came off and was an easy fit. Those two wires same colour go to brake light switch on mine.
I've had them that way around before it's a slightly shorter route so is good if the loom needs to be repaired or cut down. I'm not sure if the wires might be redundant on mine as there's a couple of different colour wires to the switch now I'll check it out when I put some power through it. 🙂👍
@@retro.restorations yeah the tool I used the most for wiring was the continuity checker to check one end of the wire going to the other to make sure was same one!! Initially very confused by white and brown all being continuous then made sense and it clicked 😂
Heloo Mate Great Vids very helpful I am rebuilding Series 2A at the moment. Autosparks have a loom for 82 quid for series 3 109 but only for models with fuel tank at rear, Mine is a Series 2a with fuel tank under drivers seat, do you think this loom will fit on to my 2A ? as they only do this loom for the Series 3. Thanks
Hi pal, there will be a few differences the plugs different into the main harness the s3 loom will have extra wires for fog and reverse lights and colour combinations might be different so it would be easier to start with the correct loom but it could be modified to work 🙂👍
@@retro.restorations It shows in the Petrol wiring diagram for the distributor. But not for the Diesel? The plot thickens. Originally the auto may have been a petrol?
If you have an electric diagram of a Series 2a diesel with good readable color id's of the wires, could you share that diagram? I have 2 manuals and in both of them the colorindications are difficult to read. Thanks
Unfortunately there is no good diagrams available that I've found. I use a combination of Internet, books and memory the problem is the diagrams never got updated as the wiring changed over the years so colours never match pictures I will be doing a wiring vid next month hopefully that might help. 🙂 👍
Great video super helpful!!
No worries thanks for watching!! 🙂 👍
Great as always and it looks fantastic 👍
Cheers pal🙂👍

Gotta Love a Wire Harness without color code identification.
Good job tho, doing the same here trying to learn.
There simple enough once you've done a few.
Best of luck with yours 🙂👍
I found the same black wire with white trace. The diagram doesn't show it. Any thoughts?
I did figure it out but for the life of me I can't remember now 🤦 I'll get back you if I remember. 🙂👍

@@warbirdflyer7276 I think that's what I figured it out to be. mine has always been diesel. it's possible they used a generic loom. 🙂👍
