This is awesome! I do have one suggestion. Instead of using the a10 flight stick, you could buy the f18 flight stick, because it's a pretty important factor. :) you can of course fly it with the a10 stick, but if you've gone through all of the effort of making the whole cockpit, I do suggest buying the f18 stick.
Nice work. Reminds me of my F-16 cockpit I had years ago. I regret selling it but now have moved on to a enclosed 1941 Grumman Goose cockpit I have built that seats 2
You have build a nice frame and lighting. You should put in more real switches instead of just a nice looking shell. Then the cockpit will be more useful. Toggles are real easy to set up. For rotating knobs, you use potentiometers for volume and encoders for others. For interface cards use Leo Bodnar’s boards or Arduino with DCS Bios etc. Many options out there. It’d feel very satisfying when you do full start up or shut down or in flight and you can turn and touch physical knobs and buttons for a very immersive experience. Even if you fly VR, you can peep through the nose gap and see the switches to turn the correct ones.
Hi @wingmanfinder ! I have just found this video and your pit looks amazing! (Almost identical to mine!!). Hope you are keeping well buddy! Shadow912 👍👍
Love the pit. I am looking to build one and not really sure how to get started. Is there any way you could share the dogfight boss plans. I can’t find them online.
I am looking for Dogfight Boss f-18 Hornet Simpit plans. Do you have them? Dogfight Boss released them as a free download a few years back but I can't find a download link anywhere. Help, please!
I have always wondered this, isn't it weird seeing the cockpit twice? Once in real life the cockpit you're sitting in and once the ingame cockpit on your monitor? And i know there are settings to turn off the ingame cockpit in most sims but then how do you get the HUD to work?
@@WingmanFinder But then how do you find the switches in your cockpit? Is it just muscle memory and if you fly enough eventually you'll know exactly what switch you're touching without looking or do you just feel around?
This was really helpful to see how well planned out the frame of this was. I am making an X-Wing cockpit and there aren’t any plans already made for this available. Did you buy these plans, make them or download them for free somewhere?
@@WingmanFinder I know this is an old message but do you happen to have the plans you used for this build? Unfortunately dogfightboss no longer offers these plans on their site.
I actually did it all myself. It was a HUGE pain doing it that way, I wouldn’t recommend it. It needs to be printed on quite a large printer. I printed it on a smaller printer and cut and taped all the pieces together. It was very time consuming. You may have to have a print shop just print them and cut them yourself.
@@WingmanFinder I guess I should have asked if you had them printed out by a printing company. I have them too but wondering how to get them printed out full size. What would you tell the printing company for settings? I messaged DFB but have not yet received an answer.
@@larryp1938 I have a canon pro-100 and it was able to print most of it full size. Only the side arm panels had to be printed in 2 pieces. It was all printed on 13x19 luster photo paper.
Hey Wingman congrats on your home build an amazing effort a shit load of drilling and jigsaw cutting. I see you used small angle brackets to secure the panels together. Were they purchased as a pack or individually ? How many did you end up using to complete it? See you in the sky's above :)
why did you put paper instead of idk getting all the knobs and button panels and mapping them out? im not even saying buy them all at once just get them over time
Hey I have a question Is there any way you could provide me the pictures you used for cockpit panels? I could give you my instagram or email or something Thank you!
This is amazing, the only thing left to do now is hooking up every button and make them all functional.

I'm waiting on my F18 stick to come from amazon today. I only ever used 3d printed stuff until now, can't wait to see the difference.

I have an idea. My favorite Mechwarrior game.
Nice to see amount work that was put into this ! Looks great

Great Job, do you have any plans that you can share or sell?
@@michaelwilliamson6061 it was built using the old dogfight boss plans. They are still around online.

I'm from Malaysia, where can I buy this cockpit build. Thank you
how did you do all the button and switch?

Oddly enough, I fly in VR!
@@WingmanFinder But then how do you find the switches in your cockpit? Is it just muscle memory and if you fly enough eventually you'll know exactly what switch you're touching without looking or do you just feel around?
Right now, the only working switch is the light switch. I will add more in the future that will only be important switches.
@@WingmanFinder okay thanks
In DCS you have the HUD in front of your eyes in the middle of the landscape using Alt F1 view. So it's OK
I love it! the only problem i have with it is its an f16 grip and not a f18 but either way its still pretty cool
This was really helpful to see how well planned out the frame of this was. I am making an X-Wing cockpit and there aren’t any plans already made for this available. Did you buy these plans, make them or download them for free somewhere?
They are plans downloaded from Dogfight Boss.

@eliporter3980 Try Open Hornet. It's a WIP project, but getting closer to full release.
I have downloaded all the necessary files. Unfortunately I can't find a company that prints and cuts it. Do you have a recommendation?

@@WingmanFinder Good work! Thanks for the answer and have a good flight
Did u make all parts or buy em
Can you provide plan ?
Well done man! Great build! Let's go flying Brother
What material did you use for the gray external cover ?
The main exterior panels are mdf board.
How did you get the instrument panels printed out? And what were they printed on?
They were printed on professional luster printer paper for now until I can start building the panels. Printed them using the dogfightboss plans.
@@WingmanFinder I guess I should have asked if you had them printed out by a printing company. I have them too but wondering how to get them printed out full size. What would you tell the printing company for settings? I messaged DFB but have not yet received an answer.

Initially I bought them in packs of 4, but then ended up getting a bigger pack. Unsure how many total!
As far as the plans go, what scale did you print them?
Full size
@@WingmanFinder gotcha! I didn’t know if it would print full size from the get go, figured you would have to scale it! Awesome. Thank you!
Awesome build!😯😎👍🏿
Is it from paper?
Wood
Pretty cool man!
Pretty cool..
now... to winwing to spend 1k in the actual screens, or if you use vr you can build them yourself
okkkkkkkkkkk....now what about the rest........
nice seat..😁
Super Congratulations
top! Like
kinda stupid, none of the instruments work. you have the a10 stick and throttle, looks like no pedals as well. this was just awful.
Thank you!
lol he has printed the panels out till he can get the real ones, its a good idea to know what goes where, don't always jump to conclusions
why did you put paper instead of idk getting all the knobs and button panels and mapping them out? im not even saying buy them all at once just get them over time
This was a temporary solution to make it look decent until I could start 3D printing all the knobs and panels.
