WASP is one of the greatest possibly most underrated bands of 80s-early 90s
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Wasp is mediocre at best. The best thing blackie ever did was play with the new York dolls
@@MrShenanigans28That’s what you think. Like all those bands back then, they had their own unique sound, which I really liked.
Wasp's first 5 records are all different, but all solid. I really like the Headless Children album; several epic tracks like Mean Man and Rebel in the FDG
@@KISSHOOTERS6969 That's not what he said, but nice attempt to try come off as clever.
I lost interest after Headless Children!
@@MrOctober44 thanks. I was halfway into a comment explaining that my grammar was actually correct when I thought to myself "this guy's an idiot". Then I deleted my comment.
@@mde7887 I lost interest after Live in the Raw.
@James Wimer You Rock! 💪
Blackie is a great musician and showman. His singing is unique and in some way timeless.
Great musician? Said no one. Ever. He’s passable
@@centaurus5676 he's a timeless power chord player
LOL!!! He's one of the worst musicians in the business!
@@daveg4236 thats your perception its not a fact
@@Glamosapien there is no perception. His songs are meh. Kiss songs are basic and make his look like trash. So no, not perception...it's having a VERY wide knowledge of music and how the business works. If he had good songs WASP would have been much bigger and guess what...they were not and never will be. Shit in..shit out. Chris Holmes was so much better and took those crap songs and made them better.
Those are facts. Quit being a fan girl
Blackie's vocals on Golgotha, The Idol, and Unholy Terror left me choked up, teary eyed, and the blood in my veins curdled. There just isn't words to how awesome his voice is..
Emo Blackie is the worst side of W.A.S.P.
I would add Still Not Black Enough. Especially on the song "Breathe".
Wasp was never the same after chris Holmes
HAHAHA
WASP is better than ever..
Wrong
Blackie IS Wasp.
@Rocky Blackie is nothing with out chris
I grew up listening to WASP and they got me through some very tough times in the early 80’s 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Yeah...this clip was real good. I always loved Blackie's voice. Though I hear he didn't treat his fans that great.
W.A.S.P. is insanely underrated band, like Blackie, he deserves much more fame... As for the ex members, they certainly contributed, there is no doubt about it, but it's incredibly sad, that some of them still can't accept, that Blackie=W.A.S.P., no matter how much they like it..
The Crimson Idol was a masterpiece
Totally agree Oleg well said
@@peteraron2621 Thanks Peter!🤝🤘 I appreciate your comment about Gene too!
@@RtroyD I think they should have been as big as motley Crue. I do like Crue but to me wasp had better songs
@BXL Gotham blackie can definitely write better songs than Nikki .
Always enjoy these videos I never realized I was not subscribed until now.
It's a different experience for each of us that were on board with W.A.S.P. from the beginning or even a little after. The first album was incredible, it had that visceral energy & you could feel that on every single track.
The Last Command felt toned down & I couldn't really get into the Electic Circus. Headless Children was a solid pounder & ranks as one of the top five W.A.S.P. albums all time. It's been a roller-coaster ride since then, for me anyway.
I don't know if anyone feels the same way but, Dying for the World was totally unexpected. It's a debatable topic however, Dying for the World wasn't supposed to have much of an impact from what I could gather at the time. To be honest I didn't give too much about It's fortcoming release date.
What a terrific shock that album came be. I don't know, there was something special about that album.
It managed to surpass Helldorodo which was not thought possible at the time. I don't care how it came to be but, I'm very pleased with the end result.
Dying for the World was a shock, a good one but, a shock never the less. Perhaps another banger feels the same way... if your one of those who were suprised wirh Dying for the World let me know.
I may not be quite as mad as thought ?
No matter what era you joined in on the mayhem... Cheers to all the Bangers world wide. 🤘
This channel is phenomenal and deserves so many more subscribers
Thank you, my friend.
I just recently stumbled on in bloom interviews and they’ve been fucking great it’s like circus magazine on steroids
Very cool comment !
It’s easy when u were there lol. ☮️
Thank you, Buck Naked!
I saw wasp open for kiss at the loyd nobel in OKC in 1985...good times.
One of the best live albums ever
Gene was always good at spotting talent. I think blackie had amazing talent. Amazing singer songwriter in my opinion.
Yes. But Gene is still a dilhole
Gary Morris possibly the biggest. But that doesnt change the fact that Gene can spot a star.
I remember “Can’t Stop the Music” and saw it on cable back whenever, it had Bruce Jenner in it, before he morphed into an it. As Steve Duren he’s apparently a normal guy who becomes maniacal Blackie Lawless onstage and changes back to normal when the show is over. Maybe that’s how he’s survived all the insanity that destroyed so many others in the music industry.
Is just few musicians in rock which have so much sensibility like Blackie...and Gene Simmons is under Blackie with millennium
The village people lol,, I love this channel. Respect to wasp for what they did. The members, not just blackie
Blackie is still sounding great in concert after 40 years.🤟
anybody would singing along to a track.
Is he REALLY? Are you sure about that?
@@Assimilator702 i saw their last show in the U.S. (at M3 fest in Maryland) and they were better than any other band that night of 80's hair metal acts.
@@Assimilator702 it is true
@@dwade6322 Was that with or without lip synching? He can still play guitar but not so sure his vocals are up to par in a live situation.
Image hanging out with Sixx and Blackie during those times.
This cat narrating knows how to tell a story. It's better than grandpa telling stories around a campfire!!
Great job "Full In Bloom!! ...great job!!
Blackie was my neighbor on Morse Ave, in Noho CA. I remember his red 'vette (early 70's model) with the vanity plate that read ROCSGR. It was the late 70's/early 80's, and Cali plates were still only 6 characters.
I'm assuming that stands for "rock singer"
He is one of the few vocalists in metal that sounds exactly the same live as on the album/cd. Which is amazing. Listen to Metallica, James does not sound the same live as he does in the studio.
Blackie sings to backing tracks when he’s on tour now.
Probably because James blew his voice out during the Black Albums session recording "So What?"
I’d put Paul Shortino on that list. It’s been a few years since I saw Rough Cutt but he sounded great.
Lip sync. For decades.
Yea tom keifer was also the same way back in the days before he lost his voice in the early to mid 90’s
Wasp's debut is still the best album ever made. All the songs were awesone!
Lol!!!!!
Ok, calm down.
Hey u two I am serious. There is no bad song on WASP's debut. Sleeping in the Fire is the greatest ballad not many people have heard of. Songs like Hellion and School Daze and of course I Wanna Be Somebody totally rock. Love Machine, On Your Knees and The Flame are damn good as well. And Tormentor, B.A.D. and The Torture Never Stops great songs too. I repeat...the best album ever song for song!
@@rawnbadillo9886 ok, I dig that you dig it so much. I was a fan in high school, my best friend turned me on to them. Definitely had some good times with it. Didn't get to see them live. Bummer.
Incredible smh
I sincerely doubt Lemmy was complaining and I doubly doubt he talked to Lemmy like that.
I can't believe it took so many f****** replies for somebody to point that out thank you
Blackie don't lie
@@trumpwon8064 If you knew much about Lemmy, you would see the issue with Blackie's anecdote. Lemmy was never known to bitch about ANYTHING and him "having a few drinks" wouldn't change that for Lemmy in any era Blackie would have had the nerve to speak to him.
@@trumpwon8064 All of these guys lie and they do it all of the time.
Yeah the story I read long ago was Lemmy knocked his ass out on that tour and THAT was the end of that lol
I like about 15 WASP songs. Never followed him after Holmes left.
I’m sure Blackie has put some good CDs out. I just branched out to other ‘bands’.
The bit about Lemmy being more sensitive than people thought he was is true. Henry Rollins expounds on that as well, he's got a story about hanging out with Lemmy that's a little sad.
I miss Lemmy. Saw Motorhead 3 months before Lemmy passed......
He had a band with Arthur killer Kane. And is there any video or tape of Blackie in the dolls
Thanks for sharing this 🙌
Blackie Lawless Facebook fanpage 140,000 followers.
I believe Blackie was supposed to be the Terminator in the 2nd sequel.
You can see the Simmons influence in the I wanna be somebody video.
yeah the crab walk was made famous by Simmons right?
yes.........in the 80's both Nikki Sixx & Blackie were my Gene Simmons
Cronos too
@@hellchild6668 never said anything about any crab walk 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@hellchild6668 the fact that Blackie "invented" the crab walk does not negate the fact that he was EXTREMELY influenced by Gene - the dark make--up, demonic looks, pyrotechnics, heavy make-up, fire & melodic hard rock riffs is no coincidence - it's been done 8 years prior to WASP formation by another band - I will let you guess who they were.
On a Wikipedia Fact Or Fiction clip Ace Frehley said Blackie and he never met until the 80's in LA during the Sunset Strip fiasco. Blackie has made numerous statements about them being in a street gang together in the Bronx but Ace said Blackie makes all that shit up.
Gene was correct
that depends on what time Gene said that.
Gene and Paul ruined Kiss’ legacy. Pot calling the kettle black.
@@HiGlowie Boo hoo
@@HiGlowie Gene & Paul ran the band and promoted the fuck out of KISS. Nice try LOL.
@@1968spikeyin 73
I had the worst concert experience with WASP in my life. They came to Cotton Club in Atlanta in the 90's and he complained for 10 minutes through three songs about the sound. Then said he was pissed and was gonna play just enough so they would pay him for a full concert. Then he proceeded to play Blind in Texas and Wild Child and dipped. He said they would come back but haven't since........ That I know of.
He has a rep for being a complete ass. The best work this band ever did was with Chris Holmes in the line up.
If it makes you feel any better my H.S. bro, Mike Shwass, and I saw WASP in Bakersfield, CA, and Mike was shooting pennies and nickels at him through the entire set.....and, as a Grand Finale Mike threw a metal napkin dispenser at the drum set on the last song.....boy, were THEY pissed!!!
So that makes you and your dipshit pal Mike super cool does it? People like you cause riots!
I had a similar experience with Dokken around 2005ish. It was in Hidalgo, TX (Borderfest). It wasn't Dokken with Lynch or Pilson (I do think Mick Brown was still in the band) but I was still pumped cuz they were one of my favorite bands...still are. Anyways they go through a few songs and Don started getting upset with the sound. At the end of the next song he decided to end the concert....telling the fans that the sound sucked and therefore was walking off. He also said he would be back but never did. What sucks the most was that i took my 10 year old son who would listen to my "hair metal" cd's and really liked Dokken as well. I still remember the look he gave me when he heard the start of Alone Again...that was one of his favorites. Needless to say he was disappointed when they walked off...and of course so was I.
Blackie Fuckin' Flawless!
Brackie Fuckin' Rawress!
Love Machine is one of my favorite songs, it’s like what if Gene Simmons was the lead singer of Judas Priest. I live the first album.
Thanks for another interesting video
Elvira Lawless is that you? 😂
Gene was right ...blackie had talent
Blckie is very talented
The rumor has always been that wasp stands for " we are sequel perverts " I saw them at the country club in reseda California in the 80s I do like that album that has songs called tormentor, school daze etc I forgot the name of that album
My friend call this channel "spillin' the rock and roll tea".
Best fucking Rock interview channel.
Love your ongoing insight dude!
Thank you for listening.
I was never into wasp but I'll listen to their stuff. Big name in 80$ metal. Never even used to like kiss just knew famous name and diamond Darrel loved em.
Why does the audio on this channel sound like the mic is in a paper cup?
FIB switches to the first person at the end of this video and it's every bit as badass as when he was reading the transcript of other famous people.
Annndddd this is why i love w.a.s.p even more.
Blackie wrote the greatest line in any metal song, IMO: “The Gods you worship are steel. At the Altar of rock n roll you kneel.”
Thanks love it
It is good that we can see things like this an learn about our Rock God's it is great.
I also had no idea the Village People made a movie. I hope it's a buddy cop film.
Why no subtitles?
He must’ve gotten that name from an old western or pirate movie lol
Blackie Lawless is slowly morphing into Vinnie Vincent's twin sister.
Hahah couldn’t agree more
Yeah, but Blackie makes records & does shows.
@@ericklingenberg5309 True. Got to see them in 85 I think. Last Command Tour.
Absolutely preposterous
WASPs cover of The Real Me is better than the Who's. Sorry not sorry.
Their cover was a fantastic tribute to The Who but personally the original for me stands out as the best, we all have different tastes and opinions and I’ve got to say WASP’s cover other than the original is the best version, Blackie’s scream is outstanding and the guitar playing is second only to The Who
I think also it should he said that I heard the Wasp version first. That album THE HEADLESS CHILDREN was one of my favorite albums ever as a kid!
Read an interview of Pete Townsend and he said he heard the wasp version..and it made him feel..just really proud.
Love WASP
PSAW
Who doesn't?
Why is Chrissy Hynde in a thumbnail pic of W.A.S.P.???
* *C'mon man,* * Blackie shouldn't come close to mentioning Frank Zappa. - Frank's complexity is over the charts. You drummers and bass plays, y'all know what I'm saying. Please chime-in.
- Zappa's key signatures, intervals, the keyboard, note values, meter, rhythm, and elementary harmony is something Blackie doesn't possess.
Zappa wouldn't glance his way as a placement in the band. - *NO MUSICAL RUDIMENTS*
had you actually read the article like i did, you'd known Blackie was talking about zappa as a friend and what he did standing up to the PMRC, not his musicianship.
@@centaurus5676 i wasnt speaking to you, calm your own self
You are absolutely right black he wouldn't even understand how to listen to a song like the black page let alone play it
THE ZAPPA NAME SHOULD NOT APPEAR ON THIS PAGE RIDICULOUS
too bad Zappas songs were shite
I never really thought Blackie was all that great. Sorry WASP fans, just didn't. I respect what they brought to the LA scene. It was new and different. But dude was avg. at best. He seems bigger in his own mind than he ever was imo.
His voice is undeniable tho
I think he has a cool voice, not a lot of range. I think he's a great songwriter. He's always seem to think WASP was much bigger then they were.
I don’t really get it with WASP. I have come across a lot of people who think they are this amazing metal band, one of the greatest ever. Do not get me wrong, I think they were good but I don’t hear anything to that level.
@@jimmycampbell78 Same here Jimmy
@@MrOctober44 Thats what I am thinking
Wait a sec: Blackie Lawless and Randy Piper were in *Can't Stop The Music?!?* 😳 Seriously?!? Really?!?
Yes here is a clip ruclips.net/video/vC9KdZoVn_M/видео.html
Blackie in the Doll's...never knew that. 😬😆😆😆😆
Gene told blackie in 73! Gene always had balls
Blackie coulda reached out to Chris during his cancer treatments.
WASP 1st album was the best... they dropped the dark / horror elements after that... although some decent music continued it wasn't the true WASP.
Aquilles Priester is a beast, however wasp needs Johnny Rod and Chris back
I wonder if Blackie Lawless ever met Johnny Thunders.
IDK their 1st record really, gets me to this day. But, by the Last Command, they had gotten too kitschy
GENE WAS RIGHT, BUT THAT STATEMENT APPLIES WITH THE CURRENT LINEUP, SPECIALLY WITH THE GUITARIST WHO LIKES TO DESTROY CLASSIC SOLOS.
I dont understand how blackie has always looked older than his age xD
He really told Lemmy lol
Arthur Kane had only an ALCOHOL problem? I'd have assumed all those guys were full blown junkies!
Gene never learns, hes pissed off Dio, Dee Snider, Dave Grohl, Tommy Lee, Tony Iommi, David Lee Roth and others over the years with his comments and bragging over the years, yet continues.
lol its pretty well known by now Gene's a dickhead
The problem is he seems to think he's the world's leading expert on rock, with more musical knowledge than anyone else. He's also a business man extremely wealthy but his arrogance and judgement really turned a lot of other stars against him.
There has never been a person who said “My favorite rock star is Gene Simmons.”
@@strnglhld I think Gene is a business man more than a rock star
@@freedomisntfree2089 he's both
Im gonna meet Mr Lawless in September
wasp is Chris Holmes and Blackie. Without one another there is no WASP "We Are Sexual Perverts" - his words not mine
Blackie treated Chris like shit....
I saw that movie as a child 😂
pay Chris Holmes
Blackie on Zappa??? Now im curious🤔
The thing is, about Blackie; he's full of shit. He's a great story-teller though. Now, I'm going to listen to the first [and best] WASP album.
I like WASP they have some great tunes however I don’t have any respect for Blackie he ripped off Chris Holmes big time. When Chris left Blackie lost fans when Chris came back huge fan comeback tour was great then gone again Blackie took a lot of money away from Chris that he earned big time not cool
THANK YOU TRUE ALL OF THAT. LITTLE STEVIE DURAN FROM STATEN ISLAND SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF HIMSELF
This shit Chris told me one night about him and what he's done to him and others is bad
Well Gene does think he's the greatest musician to ever don 7" heels.

Leave it to Gene to always say polite things about people. Lol
Gene Simmons also said that someone stole his Wi-Fi password, he wasn’t the one looking up kiddie porn
@@ejmac3588 lol right on man. Turns out you do have to be old to be wise after all.
Exactly
Blackie joined the DOLLS when Johnny Thunders left.
I was lost at Electric circus.
Fantastic
😎
Gene is always right🤣
Gene was right...
Gene simmons to blackie lawless 2022 I see you're lip syncing same as we are in concert these days
Gene's opinion sucks but is accurate except he should've told lawless the same
Inside the Electric Circus is the album that failed to launch WASP. Below avg and over produced.
Blackie & Sixx = both posers
F Gene Simmons!
Lawless has a voice that makes me want to watch paint dry or grass grow... a B-list shock rocker
80’s bands…Don’t ruin the way I see you now vs then by running your mouth.
Why Lemmy didn't make it that far in music? One album was pretty much the same as the next, only ever had to buy one album and keep playing it
Same could be said for AC/DC
He looks like Heather Locklear now. Or she looks like him.
And the only problem with wasp was blackie
