Beautiful! Love the box. Years ago I took a narrow drawer from an old peddle sewing machine, put feet on it and use it to store “stuff”. Now thinking I should decorate it.

I did my first foiled cigar box in 1972 or 1973. My oldest daughter who was born in '74 has it and cherishes it. It was a forgotten art form until recent rediscovery for newer generations. Thanks, as always, for teaching & sharing!
Someone shared this video in the village- and I realized I had never watched it- how can that be??? I thought I had seen them all!! LOL Well, you know I just bought a cigar box in kind of rough shape- and it is going to have to be decorated now!! This gives me tons of inspiration and ideas!!

I know what you mean about having a lot of stuff. It's like never ending around here! Hubby calls me a pack rat! :) Unlike the clocks, I have recycled some cigar boxes. I actually painted them with the fluid pour method. NOW I can finish them thanks to your vision!. You've inspired me once again. :)

Sweet! I dig this project! I saw an old cigar box at a thrift store recently and found myself drooling over it, but they wanted too much for it. I'm currently altering a cardboard box for part of the challenge, its currently in the underpants stage.....Shasta style....look out! LOL! I'll post pix on the facebook page when I get a little further. It's gonna be a cool little box when I'm done!
oh shasta....i do not doubt....for a moment...that whatever you are creating is going to be amazing! cannot wait to see it! the neighbor of the studio where i teach, is a cigar smoker so i have a few yummy new boxes...the old boxes are becoming a bit pricey...darn it! go create, go play, go have fun!

Love the finial! I'm a fool for cigar boxes- there's a smoke shop abt 20 min from my house and once every 2-3 years i nerve myself up, take a big gulp of oxygen and run inside to stock up on cigar boxes. I'm a bit breathless by the time I leave, but it's worth it. Though I have to admit I do love the smell of a good pipe now and then!
my dad was a pipe smoker.....love the smell! and you are the envy of 'our village'......cigar boxes...love them!!!! and the finial was in my heavy ephemera drawer...it has been waiting for that perfect project!!! go create, to play, go have fun!

Love it. ❤️ Using that curtain finial was inspirational. I’ve stored that idea in my back burner for future use LOL. I’ve got a load of boxes stashed for future beautification once I’m installed into my new studio so watch this space..............

Definitely trying this! I have lots of cigar boxes I’ve collected over the years just waiting to be altered. I really like the thingy you put on top! (I forgot what you called it, lol) just a little tip if you don’t already know, you can take a ruler on your Teflon sheet and scrape off all the yummy stuff stick to it. Quick and easy!
LorriMarie, your projects just keeps getting more and more awesome! I love old cigar boxes, never came across one, unfortunately. I was studying to be a carpenter when I got ill; I love working with wood. Maybe I´ll just go and hold my sanding block in my hand...as therapy..lol! Tfs! Love, Fia

See if there are any cigar/tobacco stores in your area. They will probably have both cardboard and wood boxes that you can purchase for a few dollars. 🙂

oh..this is right up my alley. I love making assemblages and doing something with old boxes. love the metal curtain rod end piece and the thread spool legs.....very cool..are you going to add more to it ? It looks great already, but I couldn't stop there...but that's just me. I too get such messy hands esp. with assemblage work, I get so into it, that I don't bother trying to avoid it,thus no nail polish for me,it does not survive more than a few days. How do you manage ?? LOL Thanks LorriMarie for sharing this project...very fun. : )

Great box... did you stick on doilies on the top right hand corner and modeling paste at the bottom. Box probably more practical lying flat but more exciting standing 🧐

so....this box was already covered in 'underpants' and the front was foiled and a patina added....let me see if i can find that video...we did it in the altered book....

I love the sound of the clock in the background. The altered-to-the-2nd-power cigar box is a winner! Off-topic question . . . I was watching an older video last night, and you were using a piece of paper with 'underpants' written on it to outsmart the RUclips censors who found it necessary to ding you for using the word. Scandalous! Knowing me, I would have been using the word 'pantaloons' every 25 seconds in defiance. Anyway, how did you ultimately reign victorious?
RUclips is now used to me saying 'underpants' and they find me pretty un-dangerous! lol! i had to ask for manual reviews....the robots thought i was a naughty girl.....they have no idea how naughty we can be in 'our village'....right? and yes....the clock...wait til you see today's challenge....the clock is right next to me! yikes....tick tock baby! go create, to play, go have fun!
