modpodge was invented...indeed..in the 70's by a woman...and she covered her VW bug with either paper or fabric...i forget...using modpodge...so fun...right? yep...gotta love our modpodge! go create, go play, go have fun!!!

I used this background technique today - loved it!! Didn’t do the crackle effect - I was so excited to start I jumped in after the ink & water spray and forgot to come back 😄 must do it again another time and add that part! Thanks LorriMarie 💕💕

Who wouldn't...couldn't love her? She is magnificent! As for the 'silent' video, what a hoot! The background was amazing to watch turn from just stuff, to what now looks like stained glass. Made my day watching her appear . Thanks again LorriMarie for sharing your expertise.
you really need to have either baby wipes or a book that you can wipe that excess paint onto and use them for other projects
oh....the paper towels get gooey....dry....and get used on something down the creative road....but baby wipes....lol....i keep them in class.....i need some on my desk...you are right....thank you for the nudge! go play my friend!
the wipes come up really pretty and I have seen them made into pretty flowers - on my list - and I have seen them used as backgrounds in ATCs of late
I love the clock ticking... and no other noise... it is so cool....lol I really love the colours in this piece.
Wow! You must have purged a lot, because I can hear a difference in the sound in the room...it's starting to get that empty room sound, when you're talking in there! Don't purge too fast, you will feel lost in there!!! And fight the urge to re-fill the empty spaces, lol, viscious circle. Lol
I like the third journal best, it has lotsa interesting, and beautiful art work in it. Jackie will be very happy to receive that, I'm sure!

I so love dark o clock LoriMarie it is so much of a peaceful time for doing my art work whence I can't sleep. And making noise is so much louder than it seems when ur working on stuff its like o shit! I hope I didn't wake anyone with that tear, bang or rip...lol, then it's like eff it I'll just do it real quick like then it'll be over rather than taking a half hour to slowly and quietly rip a piece of paper..hahahaha. this piece is stunning I love her..

This is the technique I was looking for, gonna experiment with variations of this on my altered box.
Good morning Cali time LorriMarie! Question: when and why is gesso used in the process of creating a collage? I am working on an 8x 10 piece and have layered mu underpants and the first layer and chosen my focal points and would like to put down some acrylic paint (does it have to be mixed with varnish?) and then put down my focal points. Gesso when? Thank you for your wondrous guidance and inspiration! Joysea
okay....here we go....gesso is used to add a bite to the canvas....most canvasses have been treated with gesso....you do not NEED gesso before your acrylic paint tho....and adding the craft varnish is used to dilute the paint...not needed...artist's choice....i hope i have answered some of your questions joyce.....go create, go play, go have fun!!!

First of all, I LOVE this piece. It's one of my favorites that you have done. Just gorgeous. And OMG, the first part of the video was just hilarious. I really got into being quiet and I was leaning forward, holding my breath, so as not to disturb your hubby, then all of a sudden, my two dogs slid into the room, roughhousing, running over to playfight on their bed in my office. I just about had a heart attack. I was shushing them and all of a sudden I realized how absurd it all was, that I was trying to make them be quiet. So funny. You are quite entertaining and you always come up with something fun.
now that is a fun story....talk about being on the table with me! shhhhh.....lol....i love that about 'our village'...i never feel alone! yep...love that...how have you been neva...it has been a little while since i have heard from you....are you playing hard? hope so....xo

i am quite the scavenger! lol...coffee table books have nice large focal points....i go to library book sales and second hand book stores....try that amanda....i hope it helps for the larger focal points...see you on the table amanda!

This is once again a great project. She's beautiful. I have a tip for you....when you're trying to smooth things out try using a piece of plastic wrap or a plastic grocery bag. It slides easily against all the paper and texture. I do a lot of decoupage and the plastic works really nice. :)
oops, I forgot to tell you...lay the plastic over the piece that you want to smooth out and rub it with your finger(s).

hmmmmmm elvy...glue down the focal point with modpodge, add a crackle product and did i pin the pages? i am not much help...so sorry!

The substrate is now Totally Awesome! This gives me hope for the "abandoned art" canvases I find at the thrift store. What magic device did you use to "darken the edges" (that was not a Stabilo!)?
Good idea using old canvases. I did that several years ago when I first thought I could do this, now I have come back to it I had fofgottn this great resource

What happens to the finished pieces?
i send them off to magazines to have them published....i submit them to book shows in galleries and i sell them and i give them to loved ones....you mean art is supposed to have a purpose? lol....i might be in trouble...see you on the table lanafalana....
Thank you. I found myself saying dark o'clock recently. My hubby asked whats the point to all this stuff your accumulating, mags, clippings, words? I answered it makes me happy... so he walks away.
How do you decide between glazes? Obviously for this you wanted a different look with the crackle, but I’ve seen you use triple thick and regular glazes- what do they do that’s different (there are so many out there!) and how do you choose with each piece? Do you go with the feel of each piece or is there really “something special “ about each?
lol.....i just wrote a long comment and now i cannot find it...geez.....anyway....here we go again....great questions rachel....this piece wanted an aged appearance, hence the crackle and the distress ink.....triple thick will make colors 'pop' more...and the art varnish dilutes the paint without affecting the integrity of the paint...phew....i think i got it this time....i wonder where the other comment went? oh well....see you on the table rachel!
