Thank you for a great video -- clear, well organized, easy to follow. For a few years (since I first viewed this) I've made dozens and dozens of bags. Watching the video again, I discovered forgotten the tip about using clips rather than pins and a few other fine points. It is time for me to reclaim those fine points, including ironing at various steps.
Hi Sookie, I appreciate your very precise and clear tutorial for a zipper beginner like me. You have very clear instructions along with the video which I am able to follow well. I just came across your video and whipped up this zip pouch for my sister-in-law as a pencil case - she is a teacher 😊 I added a pompom and some beads onto a little zip pull too. She is over the moon with it. Thanks for the inspiration! 😍
Thank you for this - it's the professional zipper ends that look so great, and the problem I've had has been very 'bulky' zipper ends. I will definitely try creating the tabs for them - great tutorial!
I love that you press between every step. I learned early on what an enormous difference it makes. But I must admit, I've seen a couple of really good videos that were so great EXCEPT they didn't press anything, not even off screen. Patterns were cut on fabric still creased and best up off of the table by 2" in some places. Just a nightmare in my mind. Lol. Every time you said "give it a little press" (or something to that effect) my heart sang a little song! I think the iron is as important as the needle is in sewing. Soooooo thank you very kindly.
L K you have totally made my day :) Thank you for appreciating that method of teaching. My goal is to teach folks to do it right the first time! Please consider subscribing to my channel :)
Pressing and ironing as you go is critical. It’s the difference between that dorky home made look vs. a custom hand crafted project. Sookie Sews is so professional!

@SookieSews I made four over the weekend. Not perfect but they are fine for me to use at home. A couple of my zips are catching when being pulled closed..does that mean I sewed too close to the zip teeth? Or maybe my lining was too long/ big. I'm quite new to sewing so my skills aren't A1 yet! Thanks for the assistance.
