Honestly, I went with VUI because it’s less in your face and more versatile, as you said. Worked wonders for me both at work (lots of compliments) and on dates with my gf (lots of compliments there as well). DHI (as well as DHP) is a tad bit too strong for me since I am one of those “weirdos” who don’t really gravtitate towards beastly and hyper performing frags. It was a hard choice, but in the end I went for VUI. It also has a better price online than DHI, so that can be a deciding factor as well for some guys.

I'm smelling both on each arm; DHI is slightly darker more woods more suede of some kind more alluring, more serious. VUI has a more powdery bright vanilla bubble gum vibe. More uplifting. People claim the DHI is chocolate and VUI is vanilla but i don't get that. I get DHI as a Iris vanilla suede woods, and VUI as an Iris vanilla powdered bubble gum. VUI for the win!

Havent had a chance to try VUI but DHI i love, actually prefer it in the spring and summer, in the cold it gets very waxy and a bit too much on my skin

I sold my DHI because VUI left it for dead in the compliments factor 😆. Don't get me wrong...both are superstars, but if a similar scent does a lot better on my skin, the other fragrance oftentimes gets the boot 😆.
parfume should not be used on skin. it's stupid. all fragrences are toxic, and skin absorbes it. people should spray on clothes and they will always smell the smae no matter so called "skin chemistry".
I prefer DHI however you cannot buy a new bottle of the original and the new stuff is no good in my opinion. If you want the strongest scent you can get a new bottle of Uomo as opposed to a 7 year old DHI that has lost a lot of its flavour and intensity.

Availability is the other issue. Often these amazing fragrances get discontinued, and were left trying to find an alternative. DHI has already bitten the dust. I hope VUI isn't next, but if so, I guess next best thing is Gentlemen by Givenchy EDP.
Dior Homme before the new reformulation is my all time fav, still to try the Intense. Got a 50ml partial but never wanted to use it up, found another 70ml partial, still don't use it 😂
Just got 9.0, really good for $22.......A similar story with armaf futura la homme. I get about 3-4 hours max with either, which makes them great for work (weaker performance so I don't offend). I wear DHI everywhere else and get complements like crazy.
