Gosh, that was so lovely. It's Thursday, I had to deal with bustling, crazy traffic, a grumpy spouse, a detour on the way home that made the drive 3+ hours...so this was wonderful to watch. Your energy is phenomenal, and it is so delightful to know Adeline is there with you, watching her mom and aunt laugh together. Thanks for the prayer and pictures of trees.

Just wanted to tell you Dawn that you inspired me to be more minimalist. Today I went to my sister in law’s to help her declutter and we did about a quarter of her clothes, bags and shoes. It made us both happy and it’s nearly all gong to Armenia in a shipping container along with other stuff collected in our area. 8 large bags of it from my sister in law and more to go! What a blessing ❤

I have a habit of watching you both along with Tom on rusty judgement, before bedtime. Having a few giggles, a few motivating ideas, and a prayer, is a relaxing and happy way to end the day. I'm grateful for the circle of friends (even on-line ones) that God has put in my life. No idea how many minutes that is... Probably close to 2 hours

Ice cream is my "red light" food, so I do NOT keep it in my house. When we first moved from west Texas to the Fort Worth area, Blue Bell ice cream was my solace. I knew no one, I didn't know how to navigate the area (this was 33 years ago!), and I had none of the physical team activities I'd been used to, of course. I gained 35 pounds in one year (and I'm only 5'2"!!), and then I got pregnant.... at 36 !! It was not a good thing at all.
So I had that baby boy when I was just 1 month short of 37 and ended up divorced 6 years later... BUT that led me back to my Catholic Christian roots and a deep relationship with my Lord, which is even deeper than ever all these years later!! Tremendous heartbreak followed by many blessings in the long run!

I went to our local drugstore here in Johannesburg, South Africa, the other day - they had my all time US favorite - Reese's Peanutbutter Cups! Only two in a pack. cost me a fortune in our currency (which is at an all time low to the dollar right now). But totally worth it...I just adore Reese's. And it is also just as well no-one here imports Butterfingers!!!! I will forego meals to afford a Butterfinger....

I love my golden oak kitchen from the 80's. If you could have seen it before the remodel, you would appreciate it too. My husband worked soooooo hard to make enough money that year so we could pay for the remodel in cash. He was my rock star and I appreciate all his sacrifice and that's what I see when I look at it. I'm not criticizing you AT ALL, so please don't think I have a "tone " with this comment. I guess my kitchen remodel from the 80's is my love language. FYI - We don't have soffits. (I know I spelled soffits wrong). Have a wonderful day. Your kitchen is beautiful.

Diana, my husband also has a weak spot for chocolate, peanut butter, and ice cream. I've heard of a healthier option that you might try (if you want a healthier option!). Mix greek yogurt, peanut butter or peanut butter powder, spread it on a cookie sheet, drizzle melted chocolate on top, freeze, slice into chunks. Reeses ice cream bark!

Seriously, I don’t think we should shame anyone for screen time. We’re busy and phones do soooo many things. I’m a homeschooling, stay at home mom of 3 kids, with a full time job that I do from home as well. I do 90% of my job on my phone, in addition to listening to podcasts and RUclips. So my screen time would be off the charts most days, but it’s mostly productive work and not time wasting. Do I love being on my phone that much? No. But it’s allowing me to be more present with my kids than if I were in a standard office and they were in daycare or public school. I’m thankful for the tools it provides. Anyhow, some perspective 😊
I love listening to your chats. You ladies feel like good friends to me. Have a happy week and thanks for sharing your lives with all of us! ❤

We also started a Reno right before lock down. We had mold in a few spots (leaky windows) and a leak from an appliance. We needed all new kitchen cabinets and I also found some on FB. A full kitchen of cherry cabinets for $800 and the builder gave me the quartz as well when we got there. I didn’t have a solid plan but was sure it would “just work out”. When it didn’t I sold them on FB for $3200 and used that profit to pay for all the upgrades (pull outs on every cabinet that wasn’t already drawers, 2 pantries with pull out, ect) I was also able to find a sale on quartz counters and get those, I redesigned the whole kitchen myself with no skills. I paid my brother to help and talked him into helping to cut back a wall and due to a curve that was hid before, my design came out 1/4” too long…I designed a build out extension of another wall to accommodate this. At the same time I had gone back to bedside nursing in the 2 round of Covid which left me working night shift almost every night for months while they worked on the kitchen. It all worked out in the end!

Love your kitchen! I feel your pain with having the kitchen in the foyer during construction. When we remodeled our kitchen, we used the fridge in the garage, water from the bathroom, a toaster oven and an electric skillet. While I was away, my husband called with a very ambitious menu for himself. I giggled, rolled my eyes and told him to rock on with it. Within an hour, he called back and said he was going for takeout. 😜

I’m sure that the window over my sink was not large when my house was built 100 years ago, but previous owners put in a lovely 3 panel window (2 of them casement windows that open to let in the scent of spring lilacs and summer honeysuckle) and I thank them every day!

They didn't have a problem with anything. They did not buy the countertops through restoration angel. I'm sorry some of your stuff came damaged, but it sounds like they worked with you pretty well. They were able to get high-end appliances, Their cabinets had all the details that you would pay so much extra money for inside the cabinets. The camera they got was enough to do their kitchen. Put a whole wall in their dining room and a whole wall in a room between their house and their garage. We live in minnesota north north of twin cities about forty-five minutes. I just want to back up what you're talking about it is that good, and it is that really awesome. Their cabinets they only had to touch up a couple of little spots. Otherwise, it all looks brand new. They got it so much cheaper than going to the backstore or having them made. They have a true story, and their house was built in that time frame that you are talking about. I built my house in 1984. The difference of my woodwork and a lot of the homes out there is. I had a small individual builder build my house, and the tones are the same color as you talk about. But he custom mixed the stain. So finally, through Hershfield, I think it was we got a stain color figured out. Years ago, we always felt like we had to play a chemist. I would love to redo my cabinets and kitchen. Even though mine were made by a cabinet shop here, parts of them are not solid wood in parts. They have router design in them vary dated to the Era you speak of. I have never been able to figure out why they have sofits. But then I wanted to say my house. I didn't want a full sofit, we had it set back. I Had it designed that way so I could have a plate rail. We had the plate rail with the Wouldn't spend all the whole thing now we took it down. I am stuck with this software that I have to dust the ledge. If I could think of the person I am years forward I would have never had the sofit put in and I wouldn't have done a plate rail. I think over years people have changed, Years ago people used to like to put all their collections on the wall. If it was spoons and spoon racks or plates and plate racks or bells and shelves for those. I used to have some of that stuff at times I have gone more minimal. I've part of both your groups and I have listened to both of you, and all I can say is praise the Lord . I may not be minimal in everything but drastically different than I used to be, and some of that started many years ago. Less is better. I love your kitchen with no upper cabinets my goodness for a beautiful spaceSo I don't know if I'll get that done or the day I sell my house someone else will have the fun you are doing. Your kitchen is absolutely beautiful!!!! I love it when you have done. The plastic corner strips that you talked about I have used them for many many years, But we did not do the adhesive we put tiny little nails or little tiny screws. It makes it last and puts the tiniest little hole but worth it. If that's what you're wanting to do. We did it here on the corners of my walls in my doorways because I had a busy house lots of kids and my corners were taking a beating. I love the laughter and the humor of the 2 of you. When you were talking about Bad habits, When my kids were younger my can relate to buying them the shoes. It was that it would have been fun for me to have been able to pick. Couple of my boys played basketball, I can't tell you how many times we had to drive to the twin cities or mall of america, To go look for that certain pair of shoes and I will tell you. I could probably buy a week's full of groceries for what I paid for those shoes. We still talk about that my son as he is one year short of the same age as you both are. When you talked about the puppy Chewing shoes, My youngest child my daughter, My oldest had a puppy and yes he chose too many of her cute little sandals or her flip flops that were thick sold that she was so excited to have. They didn't cost a lot of money but they were still special to her. I had a different kind of fun because she was my girl after three boys, and she was born thirteen years after my third son.

Your kitchen is beautiful! That said, I love golden oak. IMO it's a restful warm color to go with our earthy greens, and less stark & cold than the blacks, whites, grays & chrome.
