Thanks! Super nice van. I've never seen the under mounted propane tank. Makes me wonder why others aren't doing it. Seems like a great idea. Thanks for the parts list.
You guys have great chemistry and the synergy between you to is awesome. Love the build, great use of space. My only qualm is the stove near the bed and the no toilet thing but that’s a personal choice. I pee so much in the middle of the night that I would need a toilet 🤣🤣🤦🏻♀️
Absolutely love it guys, one of the best one I’ve seen to date! I like the fact you installed a actual permanent propane tank, installed the water tank and pump indoors an used a propane fridge! Only a small tweaks I would make just to suit our travel style but other than that it’s perfect! Enjoy
I like the way y'all have decorated the van. I have changed from a tiny house on wheels to a van or RV. I also think y'all should place something between the bed & the stove; they seem to be dangerously close. 😇 I hope you guys continue to enjoy your van on the road ☺️🤩
Thank you!! We just recently added a heat resistant partition between the bed and the stove as people had been suggesting 🙌 Happy adventuring to you! 😁
Impressive layout and build. Although inconvenient to get from the living area to the driving area if you need to leave in a hurry. As others mentioned, be careful cooking with that bedding beside the stove. (I'd put a little 8 inch high partition between them.) You folks did all the work yourselves? Not sure where you learned how to do all of that, but you two have talent.
Having a 3 seater definitely has its pros and cons, all of which we considered during our build. We actually love it, especially for long road trips! So far we haven't had a need to leave in a hurry. I have thought of a swivel design that could allow the entire bench seat to rotate. (If I decide to put that much work into it). An 8 inch partition between the stove and bed would be an easy addition, something we'll keep in mind!
Thank you! We just recently added a divider between the stove and the bed to ensure safety, but switching the sink/stove placement would be a great idea for any future vans!
Great van, like your layout. One thing I would have done differently is put the fridge on top and the water heater/hanging closet at the bottom. I expect you use the fridge more often.
I love that you have an oven! I would love to see how your bikes fit in that space. Are you attaching them somehow so that they don't jiggle while you drive? Great video and thanks for sharing.
We currently are setting our bikes in there with a blanket between them to keep them from rattling against eachother, but we are planning to put a mount in there soon! In one of our future vids we'll be sure to show both bikes back there and how they fit! Thanks for the suggestion!
Have you had any issue finding a place to fill propane? I am debating between a sealed cage for a 20 LB tank inside the garage and a mounted version like you have. great build!

I wish we had filmed it! We watched videos on building things with fiberglass resin and tried it from there. It's not too difficult, just a lot of fumes so wear a mask and make sure it's in a ventilated space
Hi ya, thanks for the tour...question... I am English, so apologies for this question lol... when you say a gas engine do you mean petrol / diesel? Or gas as in LPG? Thanks
Haha sorry! Didn't think to clarify that! It runs on petrol. There are some versions of the Ram Promaster that run on diesel, so that is why we mentioned something in the intro.
Thank you! We have an aluminum duct funneling the fumes out the same vent out fridge uses. We are probably going to do a video specifically on our hot water heater, so if you have any other questions, let us know!
Firstly, love your van! I am interested in your water heater setup. I am contemplating on adding a hot water shower to my van, but not sure how to go about doing it. In your setup I did catch a glimpse of an exhaust vent on top of the roof and some duct piping going out of the water heater, but not sure how it's installed. I would love to see how you did your water heater installation. Thanks for sharing!
Since our fridge was also run on propane we installed a large-ish vent for that. So for the water heater we used duct piping to funnel the exhaust down and out the same side vent as the fridge! We'll try and post a more in depth plumbing video in the next week or two!:)
Did you guys incorporate a mixing valve into the shower? If so, would you mind sharing how you connected pex (or whatever you used) From the mixing valve to the tankless heater?
The mixing valve came as a part of the shower trim kit. We connected it to the pex using a 1/2" NPT to 1/2" pex adapter. We'll do a video focusing primarily on the tankless water heater too, so please let us know if you have any other questions!
@@LKseims yes please do. It’s the water outlet on the tankless heater I’m wondering about. Usually people just take a shower head and run it directly from the tankless. Wondering how you connected that portion to your mixing valve
We actually don't! We really considered it while planning the build, but opted for the two side windows instead. The bed's height would block out half of the view out of rear windows anyways & the side windows allow for a cross breeze
I have watched a ton of builds. I have to say I love yours a ton. I am right in the middle of my own build on the same van. Love the spare tire location. I will copy. Hard to believe two bikes will fit. Can you show us. I am Putting in new motor in two weeks. I have almost the exact layout. Except my shower is beside my bed on drivers side. Question please. What model of furnace did you use? Annnnnd Did you install the propane tank or have someone do it for you? I am in Ontario and want an under mount tank. Love the build!
Congrats on starting vanlife too! We'll be sure to show our bikes in the garage in a future video. Our furnace is a Suburban NT-20SEQ. And yes, we did install the propane tank ourselves. It was a little tricky. We shortened the mounting brackets so it wouldn't be hanging too low. Let us know if you have any other questions about that!
It looks great! I'm looking into getting the exact same van (159 WB HR PM)! Almost want to copy your exact layout minus the shower :p Is there a layout plan with measurement you can share?
What kiind of solar panels did you use? 12v 250watt? Have you had many places here in the US that won't fill your propane? I was wanting to use external propane in my build by worried about that.
Yes! It's a 12v 250 watt! And we haven't had any problems filling the propane tank. Many gas stations (about 50%) have propane fill stations. They are happy to fill it as long as it is easily accessible
Nice build! Love the shower and pine board! I am currently updating my van and would like to do pine siding too. Where did you get the pine tongue & grove slats? Also, I currently have one fantastic fan & an AC unit over the bed. I hv 2 windows on each side of the bed providing nice cross ventilation which I totally love (& have an AC over head). I'm thinking about replacing the AC with a 2nd fan to cool the van, but my partner thinks I should keep the AC. If doing again, would you stick with the double fan set up, or would you do an AC? Safe travels ~
@@1tlb0k61 Yay! Always fun to connect with other vanlifers:) And as for the AC, it totally depends how hot of areas you'll be going with your van. Texas in the summer? Haha oooh yeah an AC unit would be nice! But if you notice that you hardly use the AC unit you have now, a fan would be a much simpler installation 🤷🏼♀️
@@LKseims thank you for your feedback. Once I complete the projects I'm on now, I am going to take the van to rv dealer to switch out as I plan on mostly being in the NW.
We used FRP board for the shower walls! It's thin, light and easy to install. We are working on linking all the stuff we bought in the description of this video. I believe the shower items are all listed, and more will be added soon:)
Love your ProMaster - that's my choice as well! You mentioned you are in AK. Are you from there, or were you able to travel there somehow this year? I lived in Anchorage much of my life, and hope to travel there again . . . someday . . .
Hi Linda, Logan is from Alaska, but we were building out our van in Arizona when Covid-19 hit. We drove up in July and Canada allowed us through on the condition that we were in and out in 72 hours & didn't stop for anything besides sleep/food/gas. Hope you find your way up here again ♡
Haha we normally cook our bacon in the oven. (No splattering and it doesn't shrink up as much!) And don't worry, it's not as close as it looks! But we have considered building an additional fireproof gaurd between the stove and bed as well
Hi! We ended up spending right around $7,000 on our conversion. And for the floor plan we based it off of several ideas from other van builds we liked! Just mixed and matched our favorite things:)
Looks great. but I'm concerned that your water heater says on the front not to use in the room. It's mainly an outdoor water heater. And it could ignite your clothes hanging in the closet.
Thanks! It's actually an indoor water heater, we made sure of that when we purchased it. We just vented it according to the manufacturer's recommendation.
Hi Sean! We have solar as well, but we didn't want to completely depend on sunny days in order for our appliances to function! Especially because we brought it up to Alaska and there is not a lot of sunlight hours in the winters there
I’m a friend of Ed’s and from Sterling. I love your set up. Did you buy the van and have it built out to your specs or did this one come to you this way? Beautiful set up. Do you live in it and travel full time? So nice. Hope to see and follow along on some of your travels. Subscribed! 🤗🦋🙏
We bought it completely empty back in June and spent most the summer building it out in AZ. We road tripped to Alaska and have been living in it / finishing it up here! We are going to sell it up here or continue the van life adventure full-time:) Thanks for your interest!
It's higher up than our drive line, so the rough terrain would have to take that out first! Also the puncture would have to cause a spark as well or no flames occur. 🤔
Thank you! We have 2" of foam board (with spray foam in any cracks/crevasses) + the vapor barrier on all the walls, including each end of the bed. And yes! 3/4" tounge and groove pine for the ceiling and back wall
For #2 we usually use public restrooms (at a park, gas station or trail head) but for #1 we normally just go outside! I use a female funnel that makes it easy:)
Hi Keri! We are helping people for free here and there in whatever available time we have! We wouldn't be able to be there for your entire build but we'd love to come help out for a few days!
be very careful with the stove so close to bed if you have a pot on the stove and a breeze comes through can push flames from under pan and catch bed on fire. this happened to friends and burn trailer to the ground in minutes. Build a fireproof guard would not like seeing all your work go up in smoke.
Don't worry, it's not as close as it looks! The blankets in that corner stay cool to the touch even after quite a bit of cooking. We do keep a fire extinguisher under our sink, but it wouldn't hurt to build an additional fireproof gaurd between the stove and bed. Thanks for the recommendation!
@@LKseims I had the same concern when I first saw it. Maybe you could install the shield in such a way that you flip it up when you use the stove and flip it down & out of sight when you're not? Either way, it's a beautiful build! 💖
I think, for me, a slightly smaller shower. A larger closet. And I'd flip the kitchen so the oven was either in the middle or near the door. That way, if someone is sitting on the bench you butt is not in their face.
Nice build. Having a bathroom is a must.
Nice build! And you're right. It is actually nice that your garage is a lighter color. No cave vibes. Good job guys.

Wonderful van, I (clumsy🤦♀️) would bang my head on the sharp Metal underneath the bed....pool noodle or simular?
2:26 when you're going for a quick what? Hmmmm !!
😅😅😅😉
What is your clearance height inside the van?
Before adding everything it was 6'5" and now it is 6'3"
What colors is the paint ?
We used white on the walls, weathered grey gel stain for the cupboards and a light grey+tan mix for the garage
Thank you !
Isn't it dangerous to have a propane tank under neath the van, in case you hit something (in rough terrain) that punctures it?
It's higher up than our drive line, so the rough terrain would have to take that out first! Also the puncture would have to cause a spark as well or no flames occur. 🤔
Really nice build! How much insulation do you have in the walls at each end of your bed? Are the pine wall panels 3/4" tongue and groove?
Thank you! We have 2" of foam board (with spray foam in any cracks/crevasses) + the vapor barrier on all the walls, including each end of the bed. And yes! 3/4" tounge and groove pine for the ceiling and back wall
I love it!!! Can you guys build out mine???
On our way (;
Nice
Ok, so no toilet. How do y’all “go”, especially during the night?!!
For #2 we usually use public restrooms (at a park, gas station or trail head) but for #1 we normally just go outside! I use a female funnel that makes it easy:)
Nice build, it's be 100% better if you could get into the cab without exiting the van in case of emergency tho.
If we had another van with a bench seat we'd probably install a swivel, now that we know those exist for the bench style seats!
What do you charge to help me do this
Hi Keri! We are helping people for free here and there in whatever available time we have! We wouldn't be able to be there for your entire build but we'd love to come help out for a few days!
@@LKseims I'm in Jacksonville Fl.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
be very careful with the stove so close to bed if you have a pot on the stove and a breeze comes through can push flames from under pan and catch bed on fire. this happened to friends and burn trailer to the ground in minutes.
That way, if someone is sitting on the bench you butt is not in their face.
the stove to close to the bed
