To all that complain about the music : the video is from April 2014!!! That was 6 years ago... look at most RUclips channels with videos that old the further you dig back the lesser quality content you’ll find. I agree the music for this video SUCKS but their is nothing I can do about it. With that said thanks for the engagement on the video, I do listen to y’all complain and that’s why I have changed the music in future videos.
At least you own up to it I can respect that. But I ask why music at all? Aren’t the baseball clips of it good enough? Most people who watch these vids love the game enough to be more than entertained by the vanilla clips without music. Just sayin
I grew up watching this guy pitch, he closed the first Braves game I ever went to at Turner field, and I remember him getting a standing ovation every time he took the mound. The man is an Atlanta Braves institution.
man, this takes me back to when i was just a boy and watching this man along with the other 2 working over the NL. truly was a thing of brilliants and IMO the best trio that i ever saw
I'm a massive Braves fan from the UK. When I started following baseball in 1990 I went with the Braves. I idolised Smoltz, he was the king for me. I even got a friend to get me a Smoltz jersey. But Atlanta had one of the greatest, if the greatest top three pitching rotation in baseball history. Then to see all three plus Chipper get on their first attempt shows just how much of a dynasty they were.
I remember crying like a little bitch when Smoltz went to boston, thats when i began to lose interest for the Braves, what a monster he was and all of the players in the 90s' best team ever.
Bro this is one fantastically executed and well-produced career highlight video for one of my favorite pitchers ever, John Smoltz. Nice job, very entertaining!
Smoltz was drafted by the Tigers and traded to the Braves. Eminem Lose Your Self is the song, Smoltz is from Warren, across 8 Mile into Warren into hick territory, I'd like to share a story of a Hall of Famer. Love the Braves for life and Eminem.
As much as I liked Glavine and Maddox, I LOVED John Smoltz the best when the Braves were winning all those NL East titles. He was a power pitcher with that un-hittable slider. I also enjoy listening to him when he provides color commentary during the post season games on Fox.
Any other team besides the Yankees, Dodgers, and Mariners he is #1 starter. Think about it he's behind Maddux with his pinpoint accuracy and Glavine because he is a lefty. Went from starter to closer and back to starter with the Braves. Best power pitcher of the three.
Didn't have the most strikeouts, didn't have the lowest era, didn't put the most velocity or movement on the ball, so why does anyone care about this guy? Why is he so beloved? Because his superpower was winning.
This video compilation really doesn't need music but for crying out loud how about changing it to at least his closer role bullpen tune Thunderstruck by AC/DC!
Too much elegance from Smoltz! Part of the best rotation in history: Maddux, Smoltz, Glavine, Millwood and other. Too bad he retired struggling awfuly with Boston and St Louis, anyone could hit him and lost important games.
I prefer the Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz and Neagle rotation. Neagle had a 20-5 record in '97 and almost made it a 4 cy young rotation. Braves also had back to back 100+ win seasons with Neagle in the rotation.
Just today my mom told me that as a kid she used to be friends with John Smoltz, I didn’t believe her until she showed me a picture. She told me that John’s mom used to babysit my uncle and while she was babysitting they would go out and party so I thought I would come look at old highlights.

The worst kind, if you're a batter and the game is tight. Nasty high 90's heater, disappearing slider and sinker, and a few other pitches he'd show you once in a while just to mess up your day. And lived for the big game.
Don't forget the occasional quickpitch sidearm heater and even rarer knuckleball. I used to live for those pitches freezing up batters. Smoltz was a real bastard of a pitcher.
I like the highlights not the music I'm a fan of rap and would rather listen to the game commentary. It's like going to a funeral and they're playing Christmas music.
smoltz first ballot hall of famer is a sham. smoltz never in his career could stand in the shoes of Orel Hershiser from 1984 to 1989. Even after arm trouble Orel was at least as good or better. Blyleven, Sutton, others had to wait years and smoltz first ballot, come on. sports writers today are idiots. HOF is a sham
Smoltz showed up in big games. Postseason and regular. Put in work. Arm surgeries, setbacks, closer duty, return to starting....dropped filthy pitching when things got tight. The man's a Hall-of-Famer, whichever way he gets in. My favorite game of his is when he met Hideo Nomo in Nomo's Rookie of the Year season; look that one up to see how Smoltz handles his business. Watching him drop sliders and splitters, and the occasional knuckler, on batters in a 3-2 count was a real pleasure.

I love the music... I just found this bc my bf is teaching me how to pitch and this is pumping me up lol
Catcher Daily I subbed
You rock dude. fuck em
Hey. Eminem and J.S. are both from Detroit Michigan. Thats part of the decision for the music

Fried, Strider, and Kyle Wright. I would love to throw Soroka in there.
Thank you so much for creating a tribute to what will always be my all-time favorite player in baseball.
+Devin Thiery thats what i do thanks for the feedback
Smoltz was the 3rd best on this staff and is one of the greatest of all time. Absolutely unreal looking back at the big 3.
HE was one of my Favorites Mr.Smoltz was still is that MONTION PICTHING IS GREAT AND LOOKS SIMILAR 2 ANOTHER BRAVES PITCHER ROCK ON BRAVES

Would have been better is the music wasn't over the announcers.

What’s the deal with all the men on RUclips comments saying they were crying over sports n highlights 😂
Patterned my whole wind up and delivery like Smoltz in Highschool. Smoking Smoltz was the man.
Bro this is one fantastically executed and well-produced career highlight video for one of my favorite pitchers ever, John Smoltz. Nice job, very entertaining!
mathprodigy thank you man.
オーソドックスなワインドアップの名投手。見ていて気持ち良い
Welcome to Cooperstown, Smoltzie. Much deserved,
My favorite Brave. Great vid.

Smoltz is from Lansing I went to school with him
@@davidmcgrath6507 I got the pleasure of watching him pitch live several times for the Braves! Cool you went to school with him!!!
Born in Warren, cool you went to school with him! I got to see him pitch in person several times!
this was the era i remember. i hardly track baseball anymore.

Man this was my idol when i played ball in highschool...
Can’t wait to see the Braves in the 2021 World Series.

From the starting 5 rotation to the bull pin, quite an adjustment by bobby cox the mgr. Brave fan was confused on the deal but it paid off. $$$ 😀

smoltz was a bad man
He was also a bald man
My uncle was the scout that brought smoltz to the mlb
Thats goat
Nope
@@johnwilson2284 yep bill shudlich he recently passed away

Brett Blankenship I would prefer no music but that’s the second best rap song ever written
hey John I was at many of the braves home games
he was a workhorse, and his slider when it was on, was unhittable
Too much elegance from Smoltz!

What is this noise that is backing these wonderful highlights from one of the best pitchers ?
Thank you ?

Your mom partied with John Smoltz? You sure he's not your dad? 😅
I have a lot of john smoltz cards!
Why in The Hell is Eminem playing?
Arthur Dalton he’s from Detroit
Ohhhhh... Now I get it.
Arthur Dalton best rapper in history with best pitcher in history. It fits
Because hes the best
What's with that random tigers logo?

? Yeah i was wondering
It's a shame time always wins even against the best of the best,.
John was a hell of a ballplayer.
What kind of pitcher was John Smoltz?
Mid-upper 90s fastball, great slider and splitter. Also, like his teammates Maddux and Glavine he pitched intelligently.
The worst kind, if you're a batter and the game is tight. Nasty high 90's heater, disappearing slider and sinker, and a few other pitches he'd show you once in a while just to mess up your day. And lived for the big game.
definition of Power pitcher : 4 sem fastball, mid to high 80s slider and also splitter
the slider what the piss off pitch, go sit down
Don't forget the occasional quickpitch sidearm heater and even rarer knuckleball. I used to live for those pitches freezing up batters. Smoltz was a real bastard of a pitcher.
My dad loves the Braves
매덕스 글래빈 둘다있어도 마지막 아웃카운트는 스몰츠에게 맡기고싶음 누구나 인정?
Make sho Jimmy got season tickets!
Left and right
I like the highlights not the music I'm a fan of rap and would rather listen to the game commentary. It's like going to a funeral and they're playing Christmas music.
Joseph Payne lmao good analogy
Glavine Smolts n Maddox it wasn't even fair
Bunch of southern boomers complaining about the music. Just turn the volume down lol
Watch for him in golf... he will take your $
HORRIBLE FUKN MUSIC - IF I WAS SMOLTZ, I'D PETITION RUclips TO REMOVE THIS DISGRACEFUL VERSION OF A "CAREER HIGHLIGHTS" REEL
