- Here you guys go this has been asked for the past few days and its finally here! This is how to beat the Monsters of Legend VR Challenge! The team you will be using is Aerith Cloud and Tifa, these three really bring on the damage for this boss challenge! In this video you will learn how to beat the tonberry, Bomb, Behemoth and Marlboro! I have 102 hours clocked in this game having done everything. I'm struggling for other games though trials of mana comes close to hold my attention. You have inspired me to try hard mode no damage bosses. This was smooth dude.

Found the Behemoth more difficult to take out than the Marlboro.
Me as well, it's tricky dealing with his torso and legs once it's been knocked down
No kidding! I can deal with every other fight but him. He's hard to hit specifically and he keeps trampling me with his lower body after he's down. These guys make behemoth look easy. ITS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO EASY!
The only annoying ones for me are them damm Tonbery
Tonberry+Bomb are harder to me

Your Tifa must be at god level. My Tifa’s Metal Knuckles have the same strength stat as what you showed in the menu at the start of the video, but she can only do a third the damage of what she’s doing in your videos and can’t knock out the Tonberry or Behemoth’s Upper Body before the Stop effect wears off. My characters are getting mutilated. 😕

Thanks for this guide! Had a bit of trouble in round 3 due to Tifa getting wiped out by the lower body but I found getting in a dive kick or two, retreat, and then do Aerith’s ray of judgment to finish it off.

I remember doing this mission. I had a harder time with that A-hole Behemoth. I had Barret as my healer (with chakra and prayer materia, I followed your guide about that), Cloud and Tifa as the attackers while I control Tifa. I failed several times on the Behemoth part, but beat Marlboro on my first encounter with it. This mission was quite fun for me. The one that really pissed me off were the Top Secrets. Lol.

This mission is one where a max'd out Cleansing materia can come in handy, because Resist can help a party member no-sell Bad Breath. I know your strategy here involves nuking the Marlboro down so hard it never gets the chance to cast Bad Breath to begin with, but it's useful for filling out Enemy Skill.

Wow. That's insane. I just finally got around to play FF7 Remake this week and just beat it today. When I fought the Behemoth it took a while to beat. Malboro actually was fairly easy. Just ran around with Tifa and pounded it. But that's incredible to see how fast they were brought down.

This worked like a charm. For me the behemoth was a hard one! But what saved me was Aerith's limit break planet protector on the behemoth. It is a really fun challenge and I find myself repeating it again because of the challenge. Thanks for the strategy guide

For Round 4, I had to take out the tonberry first because the dumb AI kept getting themselves killed. I'd love to see them implement some kind of party strategy command in Remake Part 2 (Offensive, Moderate, Defensive etc).

Thanks for the guide. Died quite a few times to Behemoth as his lower body was doing damage to party members and many times hitting Tifa away. Then by the time I do stagger, someone is already dead and can’t do enough damage on the horns to break before stagger ends. But once I did get lucky enough to not die on Behemoth back legs, then the rest of the fights went well can cleared it.
I know I'm a couple months behind but I used this to help me with this battle. I didnt have 3 fury rings but the general strategy and builds definitely helped a lot! Thanks a lot man! Gonna study your pride and joy one as I get ready for that one

If you only have 2 refocus materia (since you gain the 3rd from this battle), try warding + subversion materia linked instead of the lightning and another rando materia to avoid the insta kill with Cloud. Tonberry seems to always go after him. EDIT: Finally finished the fight. Used the warding/subversion tactic, it helped me out with that second tonberry. Also got the enemy skill done for Malboro.

I like your break downs of these speed kill set ups, its one thing to see someone kill these bosses uber quick, its another to have it explained in detail. yup I ended up having to kill top secrets and this fight again to complete my asses list, don't forget to asses ifirit and malboro as this is the only place they appear in the game.

Do you think it's possible to equip Cloud with the enemy skill materia to learn bad breath, and then segue into your strategy to beat Malboro? Wondering if that might be rough considering the lower HP pool and lack of cleanse materia with this build.
Yeah go for it dude! If you want you can slap cleanse on for that to help out cloud. You might have to get hit by bad breath twice tho. For me I had to lol. But some unlucky others had to get hit 3 times haha

Ha!! Finnaly!! I followed your method and after about 10 tries I did it. Too bad I coulndt get the Bad Breath enemy skill all at once, but now I can do it again with confidence!!

Great tutorial for people who have problems with it, the Malboro itself is quite easy though just circle around with Tifa and hit him in the back he will not hit Tifa with his bad breath as long as you circle around behind him, just have to make sure that he does not hit the other two with it´s bad breath when he turns to catch Tifa.
The fights before are the bigger issue and for that this guide is golden. Thanks for the effort.
Yup! Tifas overall speed especially with parry materia is ridiculous for enemies to even try to catch her haha I love it

Just watched them; definitely helpful since I’m using all the tactics I can to get Aerith & Tifa’s last dresses. It’s just long to have to do chapter 3 again after just about muscling through hard mode but I love this game so it’s no biggie

@@BltzZ Finished after 2~3 tries. The fault is due to my own materia lvl. But boy, as soon as I reached Malboro, it has no chance to touch my team.
As I was planning to get Master of Mimicry trophy, I had to let it attack me with Bad Breath while equipped w/ Enemy Skill materia. Had to rechallenge it again to get this trophy as my team destroyed it easily first try.
(The other few fail tryout were because of Tonberry, screwed up my command)

No problem! So you get 2 extra refocus materia when you complete this challenge and the one before it! Having 3 total counting the one we get from aerith

Great video, im struggling with this, i cant get past the tonberry, i might be underlevel so i have a couple of questions, i just finished the game once (easy mode), im level 41 but do i need to finish the game again on hard mode to get more level and get more materia to level up? Because for example i only have one revive materia or the ones you use on 2 or more characters, or should i just go back to some chapters (ch selection) to farm materia and levels to come back to the fight?
Yes hard mode would get your 3X XP and 3X AP to level up both faster and you gotta be level 50 to easily steam roll past these :( but you got this!

I appreciate the guide a lot, I use your builds as a foundation and strat to beat this. I also found it easier to target the tonberry on the 4th fight than the bomb, clouds ai insist on fighting it 🤣. So I just reuse the strat on the 2nd fight to kill it off and it was easy.

Make sure to parry slide away with tifa to dodge them legs if needed and use ray of judgement with aerith asap and quickly

I have 2 refocus materias how do I get the 3rd? I can see the game gives u 1 for beating three person team vs monsters of legend but wouldn't make sense that being the 3rd refocus materia since people watching most likely haven't beaten it yet since they're looking up a build 2 beat it so where do I get a 3rd refocus materia?
I need you to tell me how you got 8 materia slots on you’re hardedge sword and I was only able to get 4
You need to get 250+SP to unlock the final core which usually has the extra materia slots. You get over 250 by doing everyone on normal including VR Challenges and colliseum challenges. Then you can play hard mode chapters select to get a quick easy 10 SP. Cloud chapter 8 fight with Reno. Tifa chapter 3 defeat wrath hound, aerith I forget. Barret guard scorpion chapter 1

Out of curiosity, I’ve noticed after watching a few of your videos that you don’t usually lock on to enemies. Is there a particular reason and strategy for this or do you just prefer not to lock on?
Good analyzation! I use free combat targeting from the menu. It makes switching targets on the fly much easier in battle when there are multiple targets. This is just my preference. I also don't like to manually lock on either for the same issue

Sorry, you get the multiple refocus from this challenge itself. I forgot to mention that. It's not needed to beat this tho. I just added it as filler materia
For future Remake parts, I hope they add a toned-down form of the gambit system or something like that for the non-controlled party members, like "Only attack who the leader's attacking," or the opposite, "Spread out and pick separate targets," etc.
I wish we could affect how aggressive the teammates are. They focus defense and blocking first but sometimes when enemies are stunned they just stand there doing nothing and it's annoying hahaha

For cloud with the time materia, I gave him the tarot cards accessory. Makes the stop status last longer, which is especially good on type-0 behemoth and malboro and tonberry. And I had an asses on tifa and enemy skill on cloud so I could get full data and bad breath skill from malboro. Other than that, I managed to beat it after a few adjustments to tactics, especially after viewing this vid.
Can I ask if you are using 3 refocus mataria how do you get the 3rd before doing this challenge? Am I right in thinking you can only get 2 before getting this one?
Yeah that's a mistake on my end. The refocus materia aren't necessary it's just filler materia I added in cuz we didn't need anything else. You can do this without it and earn the final third refocus

How do you get more materia slots for hardedge?
Thanks for this. If you don't want to deal with the nonsense from the Tonberry, put a mastered Warding + Subversion materia on one party member and keep control of them so Tonberry focuses that character. On round 4, defeat the Tonberry first as the bomb will keep healing you up and the bomb poses very little threat compared to the Tonberry if you have Fire + Elemental in your armour on two party members. I managed to beat this challenge on my 2nd try using tips from this guide, I lacked the big burst damage required to take down the Behemoth quickly and lost to that on my 1st try. The main differences on my setup was the inclusion of two Healing materia, one Cleansing (for last round), Enemy Skill + HP Absorb on Cloud and my choice of weapons + accessories. Weapons: Buster Sword, Silver Staff, Sonic Strikers. Accessories: Champion Belt, Circlet, Circlet. This is a much slower run and you will take some hits, however, it may be easier to pull out a win if you're struggling with the yolo team.

Good to hear dude! I got the top secrets guide as well on the channel if you need it. Be sure to have elemental materia with fire on your armor slot as a backup just in case towards the end! This will heal you when attacked by ifrit. New Barret Kamikaze Nuke build I dropped today as well be sure to check that out too :)

I followed your suggestions for equipment and materia, except for 2 slots on Cloud and Tifa. The bottom right connected, I put warding and subversion. Protection from Tonberries instakill. After honestly 5 attempts, I beat Behemoth! Beat Malboro on my first attempt, was pretty nice.
How do you think they are gonna expand on each character in the new part
It's hard to tell tbh I think that well be able to use the R2 button or L2 button as extra shortcuts for more moves. Hopefully some of the purple materia like parry and deadly dodge is implemented into the base characters skills to not waste a materia slot. Tbh it feels very good they just need to fix the aerial combat and camera issues. Focus on the open world environment and we have a solid game!

KUDOS to you sir!!! I didn't have the Fury Rings and was one short of Fire Materia, Refocus Materia, and to top it all off, I didn't have the last Sub-Core (IV I believe) maxed out on my weapons, but your strategies were full-proof!!!
Behemoth Type-0 took a couple of tries to learn the strategy, but Marlboro was cake. Thank you!!!!!

A bit late to the party but thanks for this detailed guide. After much practice following your steps i was able to kill malboro several times. Totally not loving the fact getting bad breath is rng as well
I do find however that the behemoth is the one to watch out for especially when his tail shake could almost 1 shot either tifa or cloud when attempting to ray blast it with aerith

This is the best guide I've seen. Still having trouble, but I also still need to get some of the material leveled up (never even got elemental on my first playthrough, lol). Plus the one time I was close, I needed to take a bad breath to the cheeks for the skill, and it all went wrong after that, lol

It seems like anytime I’ve tried to use magic against the toneberry he instantly kills me. How are you able to cast blizaga on him?
In the beginning of the fight it's not going to focus you heavy just control tifa and use Blizzaga from the command menu with aerith. Once it hits then you go in!
Finally got through the Behemoth fight thank you @BlitZ for the video I couldn’t have done it by myself!! It definitely took the tarot cards equipped to Cloud to extend the stop spell on the upper body for me to dish out enough damage to stagger it without getting punished because I’m not that fast yet!
Doesn‘t Tonberry usually one-shot you if you try to use a magic spell on him? I can only cast magic at the beginning of the fight
Not from the initial hits of the aga spells. Aga spells should pressure it then you can stop him in his track. Don't hit him with Aeriths basic attacks either. Just focus Blizzaga then build up ATB to stop and use tifa to take it out
I used your guide. Failed the first 2 times after i spammed the wrong buttons, or Aerith didn't hit the Behemoth.

refocus increases all of your stats by +1 when its equipped. Attack is +2 so having 3 refocus increases clouds attack by +6

Malice has been been the sensei when it comes to learning the competitive strats. This challenge had me so triggered, but once I figured it out, I kept playing it for fun. This game has soooo much replay value if you’re willing to practice and acquire the state of the gods. Also, I totally agree! I was playing hell house earlier and the cpu ally loves to run towards jet stream and step right into the fuzzy wuzzies every time. I wish it was like Kingdom Hearts where you could set the AI to stay close to Cloud/focus on an enemy/etc.

And here's me just started hard mode chapter 1 and the scorpion keeps nailing me! You make those bosses look like you're playing easy mode.
No worries dude just counterstance that scorpion into oblivion! I live streamed myself starting hard mode chapter 1 last night haha be sure to check that out if you can. My network provider lowered everyone's connection speed so there were hiccups in the beginning but it stabilized later during the stream!
