Woman here. I absolutely love this movie. Just a very complex yet well executed comedy. Of course, irl this is messed up but as a comedy. I enjoy how they never get a single second of rest throughout their shenanigans.
Same. Very funny comedy. It's actually the adaptation of a French play (Boeing Boeing) that has been an international success for the past 70 years. It played on Broadway again just before Covid and even had a US tour.

Akshay is simply brilliant in comedies! Garam Masala is peak Akshay, his expressions & timing. The way he modulates voice, everything is on point.
And the switches between his different personalities with different women is so good transitionally. Hes the best at thus stuff.

Almost all the movies are fictional, and people look for character arc because it feels good for us humans to have some kind of justice at the end, whatever it may be.

This was an out and out funniest movie of all time from Hindi cinema. Most importantly, if you would have caught the timing, nuances and expressions that Akshay delivered in this movie was beyond epic. It's his all time best performance.

Steph is definitely right about one thing, the story had zero character arcs and the first fiance even originally made me mad me as well when I watched it for the first time as a kid. I was like "girl are you this stupid, really?"

It had a very successful run in Broadway a few years ago followed by a US tour (it was also made into a Hollywood movie in 1965). The play had successful shows in France last year too. Garam Masala is in Hindi but it's a typical French vaudeville/bedroom farce, no different from the play which got international success, including in the USA.
