The gold coins represent a "favor". A token of trust within the organization. It's less monetary and more of a symbol.

I seriously hate when ppl automatically go around believing false news or unconfirmed rumors that are spread by so called others’ personal opinions it really makes me wanna jump thru the screen and hunt them down, Keanu Reeves did great in 47 Ronin but the only thing I disliked was how bad he was being treated and having to die at the end which is probably why certain handful of people didn’t like it for whatever reason. I grew up a movie/tv series guru, so whoever you got that info from is full of s*** unless that person is a stalker or something. 47 Ronin may not be one his highly praised movie like many of his much older films he’s done that no one even remembers or knows about besides his BILL & TED ADVENTURES movies. *The movie in my opinion most disliked was “Generation Um…”, bc Ive yet to watch it since from the description & cover I already could tell I wouldn’t like it so never seen it.*
As many probably know NETFLIX made a sequel tv series Blade of the 47 Ronin where a group of teens or a young girl inherits the blade that was used by Keanu reeves and fellow samurais that these teens come across 300 years after the end of the events of the 2013 film in modern day. *I have yet to see it bc im hesitate especially being a big fan of keanu reeves and im not sure what his reaction was to this sequel.

LOL, I cannot believe after that very first fight scene you think John can't fight. Something people sometimes forget watching this is that every person he fights, they are fresh and he has been fighting constantly. Not only has he been in retirement for five years, but he is on a constant stream of fighting against each person who is fresh... and he STILL wins.

Rewatch more closely, he changes clips seamlessly! He trained with professionals, there are videos of him training. Its worth a watch.

That was the most absurd comment I’ve seen anyone make during a reaction to this movie. Guy proceeds to hit various sumi gashi’s, harai goshi’s, hip tosses, and several other moves along with various high level striking techniques and some guy who has probably had 4 bus stop fights and a lunchroom scrap in middle school is saying “man John can’t fight.” That was appalling 😂

Fun fact. Keanu Reeves didn't like the military-style eject and reload magazine technique his trainers taught him so he came up with his own and now professional shooters use it because it is quicker and more efficient. There are RUclips videos discussing this.

You did not see him shoot 50 times with one clip. You were not paying attention. That as a 14 shot gun and he had changed the magazine 4 times since he had started shooting in the Red Circle. I am not sure how you missed it but if you go back and re-watch the club scene you will see him change the magazine quickly and continue shooting. The movie was very realistic as far as the shooting goes. No unlimited magazines and every was limited to its real life capacity and needed reloading before it would continue to shoot.
The gun John use in the club is a H&K P30L it holds 20 rounds.
He is also shown reloading multiple times in that scene. They must not have been watching to closely.
He pulled the knife into the place where he was already stabbed to minimize the damage and get control of the knife.

Also, he was tiring from everything he went through. The shock of the pain, probably, gave him an additional adrenaline boost.
They didn't lay the dog next to him.
Tragically, the dog crawled to him in her last moments, which makes it even more heartbreaking.
Yeah you can clearly see the blood trail leading to the body. So, unless these guys smeared the blood of a dead dog to the body she crawled over to her master. I agree it's sadder that way.

I remember the time before this movie and yeah he did have a few missed pictures but his career was never in jeopardy. It’s important to note that in real life Keanu comes from a hard upbringing with his mother and sister. A few men in and out of his mother’s life, and he had to watch as his fiancée died and they lost a baby girl too if I’m not mistaken, stillborn. He’s the type that doesn’t care about Hollywood politics or royalty etc and interacts with many of the public without the prima Donna air that some have. He was reported to give up his seat for a woman on a New York subway train for example. He’s reported as super caring of others because he knows tragedy better than most. So although a few films weren’t so great, I think most recognize him as taking projects that interest him instead of what’s a hit or miss. His career was never in any real jeopardy. He’s just a very down to earth guy.
You’re absolutely right! What I was trying to say is that this is what brought him back to the top after a couple flops. Maybe I worded it incorrectly. Also Keanu is one of my favorite Hollywood stars despite not having seen most of his work and that’s solely based on his humility and kind heart! LOL.. Keanu Reeves didn't have unlimited ammo... If you re watch.. you will see him reloading his gun over and over again... it's just that Keanu is sooo damn fast at reloading.. it's very easy to miss it! lol.. but yeah.. he is constantly reloading! No infinite ammo lol ... That's simply credit to Keanu for how smooth and extremely fast he can do it! :)
They showed him reloading like 3 times, and he could have reloaded a couple times they DIDN'T show. Plus, I think that gun holds like 16 rounds or so. Maybe 20.

5:30 Keanu had lost his girlfriend and a baby in the late 90s and early 2000s. He knew just how to feel in this scene. 6:40 they spent $5,000 on that turd. They couldn’t get the dog to go so they used cgi. I was surprised the wife or even the company she got the puppy from didn’t send kibble along for the puppy cause John wouldn’t be prepared for one. 18:44 they surprised him the first time and sucker punched him. Plus he didn’t think anyone would be that dumb to go after him. 23:34 I love how when he watches his wife’s video her words pretty much match what’s going on. Like here she’s asking him what is he doing. 28:36 he secretly told John how many of Viggo’s thugs were in there by using weight loss. 30:08 to make the club scene even more impressive. Keanu was sick with a high fever when filming the fight scene in the club. He also did the majority of the action scenes minus falling off the balcony. The director was Keanu’s stunt double for “The Matrix” movies so he knows what he’s capable of and they discuss the scenes and if a seasoned stunt person would be seriously hurt then Keanu didn’t do it like getting hit by a car or falling from a high distance. Keanu also doesn’t call what he does stunts cause he doesn’t consider himself a stuntman. He respects stunt teams and buys his crew gifts after filming. I think this one he bought motorcycles for each of them. 51:56 cause she did business on continental grounds and broke the rules mainly for killing Harry. 52:14 when I first saw this movie I thought that Winston treated John like a son. It was how he talked to him. 53:26 Viggo is high and knows his life is over. 54:40 cause he realized that Viggo didn’t reload his gun after killing Marcus. There was only one bullet in the gun. 56:25 he directed the knife to his previous gut wound so he could disarm Viggo easier. 58:58 the dog he took was scheduled to be put down.
also the guy who got killed while john was handcuffed was the same guy who bested him in the club and threw john off the balcony to the dance floor

Great reaction but one thing I cant let slide, they are EXTREMELY detailed with the gunplay, thats why u see him purposefully reload sometimes, so no he didnt fire "like 50 shots" in the club scene before it ran out lol
I agree,These two are new to the J.W. world so they don't know just how much work Keanu put in to get things right and he does most of his own stunt work as well.
He reloaded several times. They made it a point to show him reload. Competition shooters in real life have started to use Keanu's method of reload because it is faster.
You should go find Keanu's training on a live ammo course. Those head shots dont look so impossible. He is fast with several different weapons.
Keanu trained in 3-gun (pistol, rifle/carbine, and shotgun). You'll note that he uses some form of all three in every movie.

The Mozambique Drill is a CQC (close quarter combat technique) extremely effective in eliminating enemies with little to risk from them as you move past them to engage other targets because in most all cases, the target is dead before your back is turn to them. This technique involves 2 shots to upper torso and 1 to the head. In the club John killed or fought dozens of targets, anyone doing this will start to wear down, add a worthy opponent to that senario and you end up stabbed with a broken bottle in the abdomen and thrown off a balcony.
Most likely John's wife was a veterinarian. She gave him a puppy when she knew she was dying. He knew exactly where to go to self medicate his wounds. And to get another puppy! As he and the new dog walk away, they are walking down the same path that we see her collapse at the beginning.
As a side note, when he's reading the card she gave him with the puppy, she mentions the car. Most likely she bought the car for him.

In all my years of watching Keanu movies and reactions, having Keanu conversations, reading everything Keanu-related, and just being a fan, this is the first time I’ve heard the words “John Wick saved his career”.
Even if the last thing Keanu did in his career was ‘The Matrix’ he’d be fine.
But again, we learn every day.
I’m actually a big Keanu fan just because of the kind of person he is. I think ur taking what I said the wrong way. The movies he did before this didn’t perform so well and this one brought him back. Not sure why ur so offended by that. Doesn’t make him any less of an icon. Anyways..thats just what I learned researching this film for this video. Thanks for watching!
The gun in the club scene holds 20 rounds and he did reload you just don't know what you are talking about and/or are not paying attention. You try too hard to sound like you know something when you don't.
Whoever you heard that from doesn't know what they're talking about. Keanu's career has NEVER been in jeopardy. Keanu has never been involved with ANY kind of scandal or illegal act/dispute. He's one of the most generous people on planet Earth.
One of the most talked about subjects of this movie is the realistic reloading Keanu Reeves did.. you saying "how many bullets you got in that clip," only proves you actually don't know about guns. For one, it's a magazine with 17 rounds not over 20, (which it can hold with an extended magazine) and two he reloaded after every mag dump.
Of course he’s never been involved in any type of scandal. He’s like the nicest most humble person in hollywood! He had a couple flops (what actor doesn’t) and this movie brought him back to the top. Not sure why everyone’s so outraged by me saying that lol -Selena

Marcus asks if the contract is open or exclusive, asking if other assassins will be after John.

The main reason that John didn't take anything from Viggo's vault was to send a message. This was personal, and he was going to keep hurting Viggo and his business until he gave up his son. If John had taken any of the money or gold coins, it would have muddled the message. It would make it look like he could be bought off with money or influence.And the priest would have reported, before he died, that John had taken things. Plus, John was plenty wealth on his own. You saw the stock of gold coins he had buried and wasn't touching, but still had a beautiful house and car. He wasn't hurting for cash.
Oh, and Viggo's line at the end, "Be seeing you." Was him saying, I'll be seeing you in hell.

A few things: John reloads several times, Marcus missed intentionally to warn John, Francis tells John how many people are inside so John gives him “the night off”.
But I love how almost everyone suggests John take some money before setting it all on fire. 🔥

Marcus didn't miss. I love that everyone singles him and Winston and Charon out as baddies, but they're among John's truest, most loyal friends.
Also, movies 1-4 take place in the span of 2 weeks in-universe.
John is a man of his word, and a man of principles. These things have earned him as much respect throughout the world as his skills have. His conversation with the door man at the Red Circle, the doorman was telling John how many guards are inside. This is why John spares him. He repeatedly gives Vigo chances to back off. He even spares Perkins, because she gave him some info he could use. Sure, he's the guy you send to kill the boogeyman, but he's professional about it.
Don't ever bring a weapon to a John Wick fight, cause that's just something he'll use to kill you.
Vigo only gave the Allstate insurance actor guy a gun with 1 bullet. That's why he's laughing. Nothing else he can do, cause he knows he's dead, now.
When talking about the puppy you kept saying HE! The name tag said DAISY!! That is a female name! And NO, they didn't lay HER next to him. The respect John receives from everyone around him shows what a person he is. And we didn't need exposition to tell us that.

You were asking why John didnt fight so well the first time - a few things
1) John is well known as dangerous. He never locks his home. Hes never on guard. People dont come for him. So when someone did, because they didnt know better, John wasnt on his game. Dude was half asleep.
2) His wife had just died. That kinda depression fucks with you. Almost like you been drinking (biological impact for reactions and stuff)
3) Rusty/not ready. When he fights again, hes mentally ready. Suited up. Armed. Mad. Back in his old mindset.
Seconds after John pays Charlie with coins-
"What are those coins for, is that how he pays them..?"
I love the little touches - like Jimmy the cop takes his hat off as a mark of respect when he realises John is working again, plus he covers his body camera with it so there is no evidence to clean up. He's clearly been well paid to keep the area safe and quiet , knows who John is and what he can do
I hate to say this, because I was always confused but it's not a clip. It's a mag or magazine. Clips were used in old guns. Mags or magazines are used in modern guns.

You never see John shoot more times than the actual gun can hold without him reloading. He changed clips a number of times. You have to pay close attention.
When he used the staple gun on himself it reminded me of when Dalton (Patrick Swayze) had to have a knife wound stapled and he didn't want any pain medication before it was done. That is an older movie but it is still one of my favorite movies.

I'm sure you won't believe me. Turns out Keanu is a surfer. I was a kid in Cape Hatteras, the island off North Carolina. Was just walking the beach looking for sea shells. Some kids run through my sand castle. My parents were close by. "Mam will you go to get ice cream with us" "My surfing wasn't that great his castle was broken and I think we need ice cream" I had no clue as a young kid who it was. I still remember my mom when it clicked. Omg omg your Ted. Keanu if you ever read this. Thank you as a kid on the OBX and thank you for being one of the most humble people I have ever met.
I think 47 ronin was a solid movie. If I'm not mistaken the 47 ronin were like the protectors of the Japanese emperor or samari or something along those lines
That one was special to Keanu because he got to explore his Japanese roots for the first time in a movie. He rarely ever plays to that side of his race. The second time was in, "Always Be My Maybe."

You wasn't paying attention John emptied clips and reloaded multiple times on screen. That's a major difference between this movie and other shot em up movies. He constantly reloads.

Wasn't a Cobra, was a BOSS, which even fewer were made, especially the 429. Most of the BOSS models were 302, I believe.

If you guys are wondering what happened when they filmed the scene when the thugs in John Wick’s house where one of the thugs killed the dog, the actor playing the thug that killed the dog in the first John Wick movie, he actually felt really bad for hurting the dog, even though he was acting. And as the first John Wick movie was directed by 2 people, as one of them was David Leitch, and the other director of all 4 of the 4 John Wick movies, his name is Chad Stahelski, when one of the director yelled cut from filming that scene where they killed the dog, he actually picked up the dog, to make sure the dog was okay, because even though he was acting, he didn’t want to feel bad for hurting the dog, and I think that Keanu Reeves and everyone else from the John Wick movies, I think they all love dogs in real life, that they wanted to make sure that the dogs were okay in the movies, especially the dog from the first one, when they were filling that scene, where the Russian thugs broke into John Wick’s house to steal his car, as well as kill the dog. And I am sure glad that the dog is doing okay, and if I was to ever meet that dog, I would love to pet it, and maybe play around with it, as I am a dog person myself. And I know that all 4 of the movies are all different from the first movie, and I know that none of the movies are real as they are all fake. But if someone was to, either hurt or kill my dog, I would go, John Wick mode on anyone who dares to hurt or kill, one of my dogs, as I am a dog loving person, and a huge fan of the John Wick movies.
As far as john wick resurrecting Keanu Reeves career .. he did a little 4 part saga called the matrix ( oh and Reeves’s trained for the fight scenes )… the matrix is still being reacted to on RUclips .. to this day ..
