People need to be careful. If you allow people to drape "national" flags over themselves during graduation and say it is my heritage, then someone else will wear a confederate flag and say that it is their heritage. I mean, shit, if hes got all this pride in Mexico, then go back. He wants to drape the Mexican flag over his damn gown...but what has Mexico done for him? It obviously couldn't afford him an opportunity at a good education. So his parents brought him over here and he got his education from the United States school system, and used United States resources. Okay first off a lot of y’all are saying stuff about the rules and so on . But come on just because they are so called “rules” doesn’t give that principal the right of withholding his diploma! I went to this school and this principal has always has always been like this . Making rules out of the fucking blue . Like come on clearly if the teachers didn’t tell him “hey , take it off your not allowed to wear that” is because they clearly didn’t see a problem with it . They are literally a line of teachers sitting down before you even get to the stage . If she had a problem she could have easily said okay talk to me after the ceremony and then dealt with the problem. Be like “hey you did this and I’m not happy with it it was a distraction or whatever “ but no she decided to basically humiliate him in front of so many people !!! That’s the worse thing she could have done like come on . Why go out of your way to do that . He was already going on stage . Why try to take it off right there . Idk but only thing I gotta say is most of y’all don’t understand that . There are many different ways they could have dealt with this . She is just making herself look like a whole fool tbh .
All graduating students are given a dress code. Nobody else is wearing a flag of any kind but him. If you come out of dress code, you have nobody to blame but yourself. I'm not even a huge fan of America myself considering what it's done historically and currently doing to my root countries, but I have the decency to be good and grateful to THIS COUNTRY and acknowledge all the good things it's done for me and my family, I just happen to be an American citizen born and raised in America. I wouldn't wear a Korean Taegukgi or a Japanese Nisshōki at my ceremony after graduating from an American school that America gave me.
