  • Throughout history, people have moved across the great expanses of the globe to establish communities. Some of them have even grown into large cities which harbor millions of individuals.
However, some people have chosen to remain in smaller groups that are totally off the radar. These communities have withstood the test of time in near isolation. In fact, many residents have never left the small area of isolation they call home. Here are 5 Isolated Inhabited Communities At The End Of The Earth

The irony is that if you lived in any of these place you would pretty much be forced to spend more time face to face with people than in any modern city. Small communities may be isolated from the world but that doesn't mean that you are isolated from them. Tbh as an introvert any of these places would be my worst nightmare. Move to any gossipy town in middle America and you will get a taste of what I mean. The easiest place to actually be isolated, ie. have nobody notice you exist is ironically in any major Western city. Food for thought.

There are some more isolated communities in the north of Canada. I worked as a speech language pathologist in Inuvik NWT, Canada and travelled for work to all of the 12 communities in the north of the territory. There are several that you can only reach by plane. Sach's Harbour, NWT, Canada is a small community along the Arctic Ocean with only ~100-150 people. From what I remember, the next closest community to it was about a 2-3 hour flight away. It's a beautiful place!

Typical life of an oldest sister mkv Ok, but the president said it on live TV, that people who are in contact with drugs, should get killed. so international news are not really exaggerating.
Also alcohol is killing innocent people, but nobody would get the idea to kill people who drink or sell beer.

We have a didferent views and perspective and I respect yours.. But I'll just voice out my thoughts same as yours, I'm not a Fan of the President, but as what I've said it is much worse when Drug addicts are killing innocent people especially child, because they refused to surrender themselves to the Gov't for their rehabilation or getting jailed, and also I personally have watched the TV when the President announces the war on drugs.. And as what I have remembered The President will not hesistate to kill the addicts when they refuse or fight against the police officers (I also personally belief that some of the killings of the addicts is not doing/orders by the President, but it is also some of the moves of the Drug lords so they can silenced they're pusher so they can't do the talking.) about to those alcoholic, the president imposed an order to have a curfew in every bar. Anyaway nuff said.. Let's just pray and hope for the best in our Country and always look on the brighter side. God bless you 😊

The video was completely unfair about La Rinconada. I know absolutely nothing about it except for what was shared here, but you can see one thing: The producers of this video won't accept anything less than tourism, vacationing, shiny aesthetics, and modernity, as they cater to middle-class people in capitalist societies. None of which are necessarily bad, but...come on. Roasting a town in an developing country simply because it is underdeveloped is abominable. Is there a better excuse for sticking their tongue out at this town?

@@standporter I HAVE researched traveling to LaRinconanda quite a lot. The video really shows it how it is... and it’s nothing better then that. Most of the workers stay there to get a chance of being rich and hope to leave afterwards. There are those who have struck it rich, keep coming back and own nice homes a 150 miles away but the majority are desperate people in total poverty survival mode there. The men are not paid wages at all...they work for for 30 days without pay, in severe conditions- extreme cold, dark caves, lack of oxygen- for NO wages. The women and children work out on the scrap piles chipping away stones for a hope of some gold. On the 31st day, workers are allowed to fill their pockets and arms with any gold they find and leave. Many do not have gold...or just a tiny bit to survive on so start a new 30 day cycle of working for nothing. There are deaths due to cave-ins. There is a lot of prostitution, extreme alcoholism, and a lot of serious crime even on the road on the way to the town. Robbers abound, and the mine owned trucks carrying away the gold have been robbed and the drivers killed on the way out of town. Everyone has to chew cocoa leaves in order to breathe. There is a lot of toxic mercury exposure by everyone...even children. The tin shacks are like 10 x. 6 feet. A bar crammed with people drinking and girls dancing is a shack 10 x 15 ft. You wanna go there? The stench even in cold weather is nauseating from all the sewage and garbage.

I've been travelling since 1986 and have discovered some real remote gems around the world. And I agree with some posts here that it's better not to disclose those locations. The most amazing discovery I made was less than a mile from a main road in the Swiss Alps - a farming community only reachable on foot who got by by producing their own wine which they sold to 2 restaurants. I was just curious where a track would lead me - they said that I was only the second foreigner that had ever found them. The last was in 1958! They requested that I keep quiet about the exact location, and I have.

It can be driven to by vehicle, but motorcycle is much more exciting and easier. The trip to get there is exciting, very dangerous and may be next to impossible with the huge snows that are hitting the Himalayas now. Summer trips may not even be possible this year because of landslides and washed out roads from melting snowfall.

50,000 people living on top of that mountain in Peru seems like the toughest. All cramped in because of the cold.

No Alert, Nunavut? Longyearbyen, Svalbard? Motuo, Tibet? So many communities are more isolated than a few of these.

Utqiagvik, Alaska looks like where they shot 30 days of night. Or they based their set off of this exact location.

The advice here is incorrect. You can’t just move to Tristan da Cunha however much you might want to! Immigration is tightly restricted. Unless you have islander relatives or have a temporary contract, you can’t live there. Resources are too limited.
