In the dark ages, when drafting was done by hand, we put three thicknesses of masking tape on the underside of our rulers, near but not at the edge, to raise the ruler just enough to keep from having ink drag. (I am aware that this is my second comment, but I knew this and wanted to share.)
I’ve been noticing this issue! I will have to give this a shot for all my rulers, thank you!
Thx for hint.
This is the reason I purchased cork backed metal rulers used for drafting, cartography, etc. They are raised off the surface of the paper.
This is a wonderful comment should be very informative for many sewists. Thank you!
@@annbrookens945 Exactly! I still remember my delight the first time I got a cork backed ruler. The bonus was that my name inked on the cork was permanent - unlike the taped ones! No more ruler theft!
Face palm. Coloring the button hole is flipping brilliant.
Omg that hat is gargantuan! What is it like to wear a hat like that? Im honestly gob-smacked at how much work you're putting into this, your attention to detail is amazing. Wish i could see this beautiful suit in person 😭 but there is an ocean in the way! 😂
It's honestly not bad at all, as long as you have enough hair to stabilize it. I wound up wearing a wig with it, since my hair alone just wasn't going to work out. And thanks!
Club soda is along great stain remover. It works on fabric and carpet, works the same flat or fizzy. Its great for blood, berries, beer, wine, mud, tomato sauce and anything else that my kids have managed to get on themselves over the years.
Also, you can use liquid hand soap and water on washable fabrics to get blood out. Works best when fresh but will make a good dent in dried blood also. I find it more effective than hydrogen peroxide for cleaning up blood.
I can't believe you painted that whole ribbon by hand!!! When I saw pictures before, I thought you'd been lucky enough to find that material somewhere (and I haven't yet seen your video-before-this.) It looks amazing!
Thanks! It was definitely tedious!
The hat came out beautiful! I never noticed how there was that heavier color different in different parts of the ribbon; these videos have been wonderful to watch to learn about the details in the costume alone, and it's amazing seeing you recreate it. I hope you had an enjoyable trip and got lots of great photos of the costume while in the costume irl!
I would love to see close ups of the actual costume (or at least one version on it)! That would be a great resource
I was always taught to use a soap bar and cold water on on blood. Use the soap like a crayon rinse with cold water, repeat as needed. It has NEVER failed me, and as a woman, it gets it out. This comes for an Australian cleaning guru.
That kind of attention to detail would make me insane. I absolutely respect people that can do that. For example, my husband is an engineer and he’s nothing if not fully attending to the details. The world needs people like me to balance out the amazing people like you. I love the hat so much.
The boarding dress was never my favorite, but the boarding hat was right up there with the swim dress-so go figure. It goes without saying that you did an amazing job on the entire outfit.
I accepted, but never loved, that skirt. Then, when you revealed the mock-up, I fell in love. That may be the perfect skirt! I love, love, love it!
Rebecca, that hat!!!!!!!!! It is the most beautiful hat I have ever seen!!!!!! Keep up the great work, you should spoil proud of yourself!!!!!
Thank you!
Your creations are always a joy to watch and your attention to detail is a thing of beauty.
This was so beautiful on you! Interesting how the purple stripes on the ribbon look more vibrant on video than they did in person. Thank you again for sharing the process.
I am slowly catching up on the videos that stacked up while I was recovering from the school year…. Down to only 100 videos in my “mirroring while I work” list! LOVE your explanations of what, how, and why you do things. Also feeling less alone since I am not the only person who occasionally has a “Snow White-Rose Red’s Mom” moment… 😂
Gotta love the absolutely ginormous nature of Edwardian era hats ❤.
That hat bow is amazing! So much work, but the effort was worth it. I adore giant bows.
I would have used painters tape to separate the stripes.and then stecilled the colours and afterward I would have done the black stripes
I’ve got patterns for my granddaughters American Girl dolls to make the sink dress and the pink wool coat. That’s as much as I have patience for. Lol. Your boarding dress and hat look so pretty. I’m looking forward to the final reveal.
If the hat keeps tipping forwards get some penny weights for curtains (drapery weights in the US) and sew a couple around the back under the ribbon to balance the weight of the ribbon at the front. BTW, the hat looks frigging amazing!!
Yes! I came here to say this!
The hat ribbon came out beautifully! 💜
Thanks!
I always admire your attention to detail. Just making sure, one cannot see the metal under the one layer of fabric on the button, just shows your attention to detail.
Looks amazing. And Dora be like “How very DARE you, Human?”
@@cassmacdonald-perfectlyimp2486 hahahahahahahaha
I’ve done a lot of painting with acrylic on costumes. I really like it.
Your attention to detail is amazing. Your outfit is gorgeous.
Thanks!
Way too late at this point but what about sewing ribbon on onto the big hat ribbon instead of painting/drawing the lines? Would that work?
I think it would have been just as tedious as painting, without as clean of a result.
Cold water for blod stains! 😁 Spit (didn't know you could use that 🤔) can leave spots too!
A friend (professional costumer) has a non-stick teflon plate-cover (clled a "shoe" I think) for her iron that stains just wipe off. I keep meaning to get one to try, but havne't gotten around to it.
Looks awesome! Can’t wait to see how you make the dicky and cuffs, even if you don’t get the cuffs done until afterwards. Have fun!
It all looks so wonderful. I cant wait til you see the actual costume! How exciting
Thanks!
Very excited to see the finished product! Couldn’t help myself, you look so cute at the end, had to take a few inspirational screenies 😂❤
epic costume recreation🎉
Thanks!
The outfit is really lovely. Hope your having an awesome time!
These iron cleaner sheets seem SO much better than the waxy stick thing I was able to get here in Denmark 😆 It's such a mess to work with!
I would have only painted the parts that show up but I get impatient easily. I love the way it turned out!!!!
This suit is looking fabulous! I'm so excited about the final reveal!
Thanks!
that's a heck of a hat
Thanks!
Hydrogen peroxide! Put tiny amount on a paper towel and blot lightly. It should dissappear. Then blot spot dry gently with dry paper towel.
Yes! It gets everything out except iodine or ink.
14:58 oh my goodness I was just looking at my iron today!
I saw the Instagram pictures and you look EPIC with the ship behind you. ❤️
As a person who frequently pricks her fingers, I swear by having a tide pen at my sewing desk for anything I could ruin with blood
I always love watching your videos it always lifts my day. Id love to see you review your first antique garment you bought for your collection. I just watched your antique garments and how u store them. I loved your I think green and purple antique gown from 1830
I do have a video examining the striped 1860s dress, though you may have to dig through my antique playlist!
@@LadyRebeccaFashions oh awesome I'd definitely check that out it's such a beautiful dress. And I'm recreating one from the same era at the moment!
🤔I've been thinking of interesting, **nice** jacket forms. Even if this jacket is a cosplay, I'm really liking how it looks proportionally. I may test that out with mine
Hydrogen peroxide for the blood stain. It bubbles, very cool :)
Beautiful. Such an eye for detail. Also hydrogen peroxide removes blood from fabric.
Be sure and clean your sewing foot and plate after you sew the painted hat!!!!
Awesome!
OMG what a great idea to visit that museum! will think about you as you visit LA this week--- have fun!!!
Also it will be hot down here all week!!
Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to go to the museum, but I did have a good time in LA!
This is turning out fantastic! I hope you do get pictures of you with the original! How cool would that be? Very!
Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to visit the original. But I did have fun wearing mine on the Queen Mary!
Use hydrogen peroxide to take out the blood spot. It works quite well.
in the future, hydrogen peroxide lifts blood from fabric. But also, you've put blood, sweat and maybe tears into this? lol
On blood spot use hydrogen peroxide it works wonders, learned from icu nurse
💜💜💜💜
There was a separate Microsoft Azure outage that didn't involve Crowdstrike
You are fabulous 🧵👏
Thanks!
H202 for blood stains.
Are you going to be wearing gloves like Rose did? They appear to have purple inside the cuff of the glove.
I did wear gloves, but mine didn't match hers.
peroxide removes blood, I found this out AFTER menapause!! but now you know
When will the 1880s video be coming out it’s been a while
I haven't had a chance to finish it yet. I started it back at the beginning of the year, and then everything got crazy. Hopefully sometime in the next couple months!
@@LadyRebeccaFashionsthanks for the information keep up the good work
Peroxide takes out blood
