It’s 1994, many flights around the world still permit smoking on certain rows (e.g. last 5 rows). I remember when I flew BA 744 between LHR and HKG in 1994 and was seated in or close to smoking area.
You're partially correct. The A340s that CX ordered joined in 1996. However, there was already an A340 in the CX fleet in 1994. Those were originally intended for PR but were leased by CX on an interim basis until their own A340s were delivered.
yes but probably the ones that change channel to either display the airshow computer (sponsored by bedat & co) or multiple channels of video8 tapedecks playing from the avod room
First time i hear "this is a smoking flight"
Same

Back then smoking was still allowed on some flights.
I know but I mean in the safety video because I never watched old safety videos
@@Flying_Gamer76First time watching pre-21st century in-flight safety videos?
It’s crazy how they even allowed smoking on board which is one of the most dangerous things to do
This is an a330, since a340 wasn't in the fleet back in 1994, it joined in 1996

i believe this is the inflight safety video for the a330, not the a340, as the plane shown in the 3d renders only have 2 engines
Hmm, It is an a330, Cathay Didn't have a340s until 1996
But in fact A330-300 and A340-300 has the exact same cabin but different engines
@@asphaltforce yes but the render has two engines
Why a ban on using a compact CD player? Its doesnt transmit any radio frequencies??
I think it's more to do with paying attention during taxi, take-off and landing in case there was an emergency.
Right? I used to listen to music on my CD player when I was little in the early 00's.
This is actually an A330.
A340 has four engines.
Dang did they have ife screens ALREADY back in the day??
Yes, but of the overhead variety like you still see in charter coaches rather than on seatbacks as we know them today
Yes because back in the days cathay pacific was the best airline in the world

Smoking is hazardous to your health.
