one of Melinda played by Elizabeth Banks quotes that stayed with me after watching Love & Mercy: "I do not want to be one more person that wants something from you..." #RIP Melinda #GOD Only Knows what would have become of Brian if you never met
He's an imposter. A fake. He rode the coat tails of Mike Love into fame. Then he was proven a fake in a court of law and forced to pay millions to the real Beach Boys frontman. Mike Love.
History will place Brian Wilson's name along with Ludvig Van Beethoven and Wolgang Amadaeus Mozart. God bless you Brian and thank you for sharing your love with the world. Your music has gotten me through the worst of times and helped me celebrate the best. God bless Brian Wilson.
Wow this is such a beautiful version of this incredible song. I’ve seen the 2001 tribute; but this is amazing. The arrangement is spot on. I have to assume Brian was the music director on this performance as it’s so perfect. Hearing him sing this in such a perfect musical presentation is a blessing.
Love Brians beautiful voice and this wonderful arrangement of one of his best songs to date. Beautiful song and words. Thanks for posting this clip of this amazing and multi talented man hard at work with one of the best songs he has ever wrote. I have the Pet Sounds album and love it and all the liner notes telling you all about the songs and the players of the instruments and the vocals.
He does a nice falsetto in the next clip: (Type into youtube) Brian Wilson "I Sleep Alone" It was written with a woman's perspective in mind. Was submitted for a movie, but don't think he got it. :/ Eugene's girlfriend wrote the lyrics.
Indeed, Brian still admits to today (2023) that Landy "did" help in a number of ways IN THE BEGINNING, but things went really south, when Landy was given TOTAL CONTROL over Wilson...and things got exponentially, increasingly worse; we're talking ground floor, rock bottom. I truly believe that if Brian was not released from Landy's control, he simply would not be here today, but laying in final rest, like his two brothers. BCRadio
@@BolsaChicaRadio What Landy did was a pure miracle! Usually this kind of mental disease progresses and things are getting only worse. Look at Syd Barrett. But Landy managed to save Brian, put him on foot, making him function properly and it have last! Nowadays, Brian is over 80 and still doing well. Landy was a genius. Period. Maybe he wasn`t the most nice people in the world, maybe he asked quite alot of money but he saved a brilliant mind. We all should thank him, not bash.
Yup, because his was being SO incredibly & incorrectly drugged by his shameful psychologist at the time, his poor brain could not compute a straight single sentence. LUCKILY, after he was legally removed from that evil doctor's grasp (and I don't even wish to mention his name) Brian GREATLY improved his cognition & ability to write & perform again. BCRadio

Brian Wilson is one of those people you can call a genius and no one will disagree
You are absolutely correct
He's an imposter. A fake. He rode the coat tails of Mike Love into fame. Then he was proven a fake in a court of law and forced to pay millions to the real Beach Boys frontman. Mike Love.
Brian Wilson is the only one who doesn't want to be called a genius . Sorry Brian you R out numbered by about a billion . 😊 ❤

there's a recording of this song from the Pet Sounds sessions with Brian singing. easily the best version. you can youtube it.
#RIP Melinda
Carl Wilson sang this song on Pet Sounds Lp in 1966, for me his voice is better than Brian's. One of my top ten love song's.
That's why he wrote that song specifically for Carl's voice.
But still, here we see and hear Brian knock his song out of the park.
He does a nice falsetto in the next clip:

Eugene's girlfriend wrote the lyrics.
My number one love song....Awesome song I also like Cole Porter too "Ev'erytime We Say Goodbye"

@crimsonwhite1 He is still touring. He is also still writing music.Still here.
the best of us are gone before they can get us.
Wow! Great! Brian acutally look kinds of normal in this one.
I'm not a fan of Landy, but without him, Brian would not be here today.

@@marguskiis7711 Indeed, I DO agree with you, concerning the EARLY, PRELIMINARY days of Landy's treatment with Brian. No doubt about that.
BCRadio
Landy saved Brian's life, then took advantage of him big time
@@garyt19651 Yes, in the short & concise, that pretty much sums it all up.

Sweet.
What show is this clip from?
these specs
1988
He sounds alot better in this then in the 1980 concert

@Tarn1968 are you REALLY serious??? Bieber owes his fame to Brian
@relimes
Of course, his whole life
Was he still on drugs at this time?
Medication. He was deep in the Landy era.
is this lip synched? no offense to brian i love him, but does really look like it might be.
It’s not as good as Carl’s lead vocals. 😊
