Fun Fact: I saw them at D.A.R Constitution Hall, Sunday, August 13, 1967. We were there for THE WHO that were opening for them on the tour....the parents sat in stunned silence as the green smoke wafted over their heads after the set climax of 'My Generation'...me and my buddy Phil Beach?...We were going NUTS~!!! Herman's Hermits weren't the greatest maybe, but they were part of those groups that made the entire planet listening to rock and roll and announced how much talent was coming up next from England. Herman's Hermits gave us such wonderful, simplistic "feel good" songs in the mid sixties. This was one of them.
The band did okay in their native Manchester and had a minor impact in the rest of the UK. But in the USA they were superstars, and 17 year old Peter Noone seems to be having the time of his young life here, performing for an audience of his screaming American fans.

Somebody should do a study on that whole "screaming girls" phenomenon. The Beatles didn't care for it, I guess. It must get old fast. Nice work here in spite of that. Vocal was definitely live, I'm guessing the instruments were too since the ending didn't fade out. I've sung this tune to myself hundreds of times since I first heard it on AM radio in 1965. A groovy tune.

    • @bradleyscarton3931

Yeah, it’s certainly an interesting study of why they did it. It’s no wonder the Beatles got sick of it. Even other audience members who actually want to hear the band must have gotten annoyed fairly quickly. I don’t understand it - to love something so much you just stand and scream at the top of your lungs the whole time. I’m surprised none of these bands told the girls live in concert to shut up.
