- The Beach Boys - I'm Bugged At My Old Man, taken from the 1976 TV show The Beach Boys: It's OK, which celebrated Brian Wilson's return to the stage for the first time in over ten years. This is a funny clip. I love how Carl and Dennis crack up when Brian starts coughing during the second verse :D
Brotherly love......doesn't get any better than this. RIP Carl and Dennis.
I dont mean to be so off topic but does anybody know a way to log back into an instagram account..?
I was stupid forgot my account password. I would love any tricks you can offer me
@Atticus Colten instablaster ;)
When they all start laughing... my heart. I love these guys so much
I love everything anything bout the beach boys i raised on their music i still listen to the music i saw them 70s bham alabama oct 5 2023 they r suppose to come bham alabama i hope to c them i love them to death
"Blew his daaaaad"... Carl looking at Dennis like, "The fuck you just say?"
😂
Actually Carl sang that. He's the high harmony.
Both Dennis and Carl sang it and both laughed
Bro I caught that 😂😂😂
This was the 60s they were high lol Carl just laughed
Brian was always good at making people laugh. On another documentary he got Al to squeeze his nose and then did an impression of Mike singing California Girls. Carl and Al lost it.
Haha right! Check also this: ruclips.net/video/dxjGOM9w0wo/видео.html
I saw it too, hilarious
oh my gosh! which documentary?
Don't think he was trying to make anyone laugh. He was trying not to cough while singing, and it came out sounding hilarious to his siblings. He then recognizes how funny it sounded lol.
Carl moreso just rolled his eyes lol. I’ve seen that 😅 🤦🏼♂️ everyone has their demons man. I don’t hate on Mike Love. I love on him ❤
There's always a shade of sadness in these guys, even when they're laughing together. It's a sort of mutual understanding, words are unnecessary between them. They suffered so much in their youth.
Great to see the brothers laughing , truly laughing with each other. Still mis Carl+Dennis
That's the best part of the video
the three brothers together was always special.
Love to see the 3 Wilson brothers together!
If this song is anything, it's describing the real abuse he suffered by the hands of their father. His mental health issues have by blamed on drugs but more likely is, the abuse was the cause and the drugs worsened and brought to light the delicate state he was in.
I love Brian's smile and him smiling at his brothers, that's love.
It was the abuse, his drug taking just made things worse.
Yea been hit in the head by a piece of wood by your father as a toddler messed up Brian's head
but art makes lemonade out of lemons
When Brian starts laughing he looks so much like Dennis :)
vicki smith I agree. And the thing is...he's HONESTLY so happy! You can see it in his eyes and his smile. It's so rare to see Brian smiling.
This is such a rare moment to see my 3 favorite ICON's sitting side by side. In this version I love how they relate to a past memory and laugh. In addition you have a piano, BDW,DCW& CDW singing to perfection even with a cough....
So good to see Brian laughing
murray really effed up his kids
And, Murry's father was also a piece of work. Crazy, mean and cruel.
Generational trauma is real.
@@elizabethmcleod246 this. 100% this. It's no surprise that the only ones of the group that developed severe mental health issues and consequent substance addictions were the Wilson brothers
Hard to believe Brian was 34 in this, the poor man looked 10/15 years older, so sad 😞
He kind of looked the same until he lost all that weight in the early 80's.
By the mid 80s he started looking his age again
And he sounds older than that too.
I know a guy who's around 32-33 who looks like a thinner 70's Brian, beard and everything.
He's also a meth addict.
I just love this! It's funny anyway, but when Brian starts coughing..and then his laugh - Ha ha! Just cracks me up every time I see it! So good to see all three brothers having fun together ❤
I really enjoyed seeing Brian, Dennis & Carl having fun with this. Thanks.
I love this, but at the same time, it's depressing because of what really happened between them and their old man.
Violent piece of shit dad.
It was nice to see Brian, Carl, and Dennis only, together and singing....even laughing.
Julie Anne I agree with you darling
Julie Anne Let me say that there’s a difference between discipline and vicious abuse. If the child grows up with anxiety fear and behavior problems, anger problems, confusion, or is easily intimidated and withdrawn, I can bet that child’s being abused! Loving discipline never crosses the line of emotional verbal and physical abuse! I’ve been in the same environment growing up, it drives you insane, breaks your spirit, downs your heart, creates codependency, stifles maturity and growth into adulthood (even cognition), and damages the person for life! It brings on emotional and social problems, slowed (or raced) thinking, trains the mind into intimidation and panic, indecisiveness, identity problems, and trauma bond which is very difficult to break! I can even say that hovering and smothering is also abuse! Loving discipline would never create such dysfunction and chaos, to where the child is often sick to their stomach from worry confusion anger or fear! And no child should be constantly pushed to the side, neglected, or shamed.. especially just for being a child (silly or not “perfect”), neither should a child ever feel as if they’d “never measure up” or is “not wanted”! That too is abuse, and abuse of any sort is Evil! The fact that Brian is still around today and doing heaps better is astonishing, and I give God the glory, for He spared him!
Murray Wilson was abusive because Murray's Dad was the same exact way towards him
Out of manure grow roses.
@@bunnyhop3211 That’s heavy. I think you nailed it. 🐇..🐇...🐇
such a fun video . love seeing the brothers hanging out together. I'm sure Brian misses them both a lot.
In his autobiography "I am Brian Wilson" he states that every other chapter...poor guy.
Right after Brian starts coughing and they all laugh, I get the giggles sooo bad 😁
And Brian has gone on to outlive. Carl and Dennis and has been the last surviving immediate family member of the Wilson's since 1998. It must feel horrible to be the last one left.
Definitely agree with you especially since he is the oldest brother sad. To outlive your younger brothers
@@heathervelasco5159 Damn! Just like Barry Gibb 😞
I wondered why Brian looks so unhappy at the beginning of this clip until I read the Rolling Stone magazine article The Healing of Brother Brian. Just before the cameras rolled, Brian got into it with the guy Eugene Landy had watching him because Brian wanted to eat and Landy's dude wouldn't let him. The whole situation seemed kind of sad and messed up.
I believe it was the prescription medication that mostly messed up Brian. The constant pressure from all around played a role as well.
@@eddo1983 this was the first Landy go-round in 1976-'77. I believe the prescription drugs began in 1983
That song is funny as hell! Poor control freak Murry kind of had it coming. The backup vocals are a riot. I love the ending “and he doesn’t even know where it’s at”. Brian had a dose of that from listening to the “How to speak Hip“ album I bet. Plus, you know, it was the swingin’ sixties and all.
1:06 That has to be a meme.
In the show, right before Dennis speaks here, Carl says that his Dad would walk into the room and "beat everybody up". He looks a Dennis and you can see the sadness in their eyes.
Terri Clary What show are you referring to? I'd LOVE to see the whole thing.
Yes, I saw that part once and was never able to find it again. Or perhaps I just read about it somewhere. I'm pretty sure I saw it, though. Anyway, it was a rare moment of honesty from Carl anout his dad.
Such mental illness in this very talented family!
Love this !! Thank God for the Wilson Brothers !! America's Band !! 🇺🇸
I love the laughing and the love that is showed in the video ❤️
just great to see the 3 brothers like this love it ha ha ha
Love the 3 brothers together ❤️❤️❤️
On the back cover of the band's Summer Days LP, I'm Bugged At My Old Man's lead vocal is credited to "Too Embarrassed". Brian need not have worried. A shining example of tongue in cheek, over the top genius. Job well done.
I love watching this video!!! They were so happy doing this song!!
8/30/2024
Dennis ❤️❤️❤️
Great that they are having fun
Love Love Love The Wilson Brothers Together
It's funny, but, it's kind of sad how he's clowning his father, maybe at the time that was the way Brian dealt with the anger he had towards his father.
So great to see the three brothers together. Takes me back to the good ole 60’s.
Its a great strength to keep your sense of humour in trying situations..a healthy perspective.
This is my favorite Beach Boys documentary. The entire film is hilarious.
Dennis I miss you so much!😢
And Carl
Capolavoro. Che bello vedere la felicità nel viso di Dennis e Carl che ride. "Smell so gooooddddd" ahahaahhaah
That quick glance into the camera Brian gives after coughing through his singing makes me so sad. He looks like a scared little kid who is afraid to get smacked by his dad for screwing up the take.
nuh uh
I agree but Brian needed some discipline in his life, at this point all he was doing was eating and snorting coke and smoking cigarettes. Landy should have worked as a personal trainer and nothing more.
0:18 Did Carl just say "blew his dad"?
Hard to hear clearly - the line is 'blew it bad' but the little snigger with Dennis suggests you could be right
carl sang blew it bad which is the correct lyric, and dennis sang blew his mind
First time i seen the full version of it so cute
Love You Dennis…Your Music 🎵 Will On LIVE ON FOREVER. 🌊🏄♂️🌴🎸🥁🥁🥁🥁
this was probably my favorite moment from this great special
If anyone deserved the OLD FART of the year AWARD it's Murray Wilson. 😢😮
Happy 50th birthday to the heart attack that killed Murry!
Lol
True points but never use that book as a citation for reliable information. Brian himself has testified he did not write nor see the final manuscript.
oh i love this! thank you for posting...yet it makes me so sad........
HAHAHA. I Love this band so much :')
I agree, it's funny AND sad. Look at his little eyes!
Such a painful time for Brian...
Well, actually his whole life is a painful time for him...at least since 1967.
Best part of the song:
THEY GAVE MEEEE SOME BrEaD cRuMbSsS
And a little glass of water
*SMELLED SO GOOD*
When will they love meeeEEE *CmoooOoOoOoOoOn*
LMFAOOOOOOOOO XD XD XD XD XD
1:12 Awesome!
I love this .........
It's so sad-------seeing these clip[s now. I remember watching this -------now, the memories are just so overwhelming. -------------------------------WolfSky9, 72 y/o
Also true. I have read the book twice and one can only sigh for what might have been.
The best thing ever seen ;}
Absolutely love it!
0:19 Dennis says blew his dad and Carl laughs
I always come watch this when I want to laugh ❤
The coughing kills me 😂😂
Does anyone know where to see the rest of this television special?
www.imdb.com/title/tt0775426/ You can probably find it on DVD or a stream
@@ms8596 thanks
1:21 ❤ such a great moment.
I guess it s a big trauma for these brothers to have an angry violence dad., poor boy s RIP .
this is very psychologically revealing.
Please say more.
This song was recorded in the 60s and was a track on the group's "Summer Days" album.
I just love the humorous moment they had together at that moment , but sad to know they were thinking about their father.. I'm buzzed.. so what,,, Emily Werner, I love you,
"blew his Daaaad" 0:14 AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA CARL & DENNIS!
Brian, Carl & Dennis WERE THE BEACH BOYS!!!
Love how Dennis nearly lost it at "Blew his dad" 2:20.
Wow if you look back at this time it was around the time they couldn’t get Brian to leave the house. For example during the same time Belushi and Akyord filmed the sketch invading his room trying to get him to surf with them. It blows my mind that not only did Brian outlive Carl and Dennis but has outlived them by decades!
I can't help thinking this is a dig at Dennis although clearly it is about Murry. It was written just after Brian's famous row with Murry on the recording of 'Help me Rhonda"". All the lyrics describe things that more likely happened to Dennis rather than the other two and somehow I can't see Dennis saying "darn my dad"
0:17 "Blew his daaaad!" LOL
i’m kinda digging Jesus era Dennis 🫣
relatable
Somebody said this was on the 15 Big Ones. It was first released on Summer Days & Summer Nights.
The song is not on 15 Big Ones. The original was on Summer Days. The show was filmed after the release of 15 Big Ones (which had two hits - Rock and Roll Music and It's OK) and was shown on NBC in August of '76, titled "It's OK". www.imdb.com/title/tt0775426/
This clip makes me say Paul Dano nailed his performance as Brian Wilson.
This is hilarious but probably true... Love them. X
Great!
The brothers
This song kind of encapsulates Brian's childhood.
I mean, excluding all the beatings.
1:12 is priceless
cool man
Sounds so much like Bill Murray in the 70's LMFAOOO
People call Brian soft and weak, but he must have endured some immense things during their upbringing for his younger brothers to revere him as much as they did. They never faltered and always had his back. They look at him with so much respect and pride, always.
My mother always told me people won't respect you if you don't stand up for yourself, but I think Brian defied my mother's logic. However, I think in Brian's case, it depended on who he had to stand up to. It was easy for him to stand up to the Wrecking Crew and tell them what to do, because he was paying them to do a job for him. But his dad was a different story
1:06. Absolutely hilarious!
Im dying man hahahaha
this is the shit Brian put them through *just repeat it back Den *
Bummer!
The first diss track
John Lennon made one.
@@arfansthename not in 1965 did he ? This track is originally from 65
Dennis looked totally wrecked only 3 years after this !
I'm bugged at my ol' man
Cause he's making me stay in my room
(Darn my dad)
I came in a little late
And my ol' man he just blew his mind
(Blew it bad)
Why did he sell my surfboard?
He cut off my hair in my sleep
I wish I could see outside
But he tacked up boards on my window
(Gosh it's dark)
I can't hit the surf, can't drag
Can't do a dog-goned thing
(Wish I could)
I tried to call up my chick
But he jerked my phone right out of the wall
They gave me some breadcrumbs
And a little glass of water
And they're out there eating steak
(Smells so good)
I ripped up my wardrobe
And I'm growing a beard
Oh when will they let me come out
I'd listen to my radio
But he took it and he's using it in his own room
(Now it's gone)
I wish I could do some homework
But I got suspended from school
(Blew my cool)
I'm bugged at my ol' man
And he doesn't even know where it's at
1:14 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I bet Brian would make me pee my pants from being a goon in the studio!!🤣
HuUh???????????????????????????
And people criticized Mike Love's lyrics? 😆lol
This originally came out in '64-'65, before Brian abandoned the surf stuff and became his own artist. At that time, they were their equals... equally kinda shitty & juvenile.
its a joke song
Per quell'amore che era in loro, nonostante tutto, erano in grado di far bene anche quando le evidenze erano contrarie. Gesù misericordioso accolga l'anima di Dennis e Carl e conduca quella di Brian, fino alla salvezza eterna. _Per Mariam, fiat!_
Brian was an absolute basketcase then...I saw the show in Anaheim and you could tell that he was waaaaaay off on Planet Wilson: Population 1 as they trundled him out like some trick pony they'd let out of it's cage. It was sad, heartbreaking and repulsive all at the same time to see Brian stumbling around like a zombie while his "caring" family blathered on about how "Brian Wilson's BACK"...it was beyond obvious that he was in no shape to perform, beyond obvious and downright cruel.
Great video, and no Mike !
They gave me *sOmE bREaDcRUmBS* 🥴
I think my abusive, alcoholic dad and your dad abusive dad knew each other. Us 5 kids were always being wailed on when our dad was in the mood. I got punched in the face by my dad and he broke my nose when I was 16. I had a "lovely" childhood 😏. So unfortunately I felt these guys pain. I'm so sorry these 3 guys endured so much pain and emotional baggage resulting from years & years of suffering at Murry's hands and mouth. RiP Dennis & Carl.
Anyone see the irony in the fact that he sings this song after he didn't attend his old man's funeral a few years earlier? On the other hand, who can blame him
0:58 😅😅
