      this happens to me so much. but each time is an exercise in accepting that ocd is a chronic condition, and that the thoughts will never go away and that everyone has them, us ocd ppl just have an unhelpful relationship to something we can't control bc we just want it to so badly not be true. it's okay, the thoughts will come, recovery means making peace with that and continuing on with life regardless

    • @cerealis_5432

      @@rabia1180 it’s so hard to not take them personally. I get thoughts that question my intellectual capacity, my morals, my passions, sociability, being self aware/introspective, and other important aspects of my identity. Any advice?

    • @mindpower421
      @mindpower421 3 года назад +25

      @@cerealis_5432 no matter what they say just move on, don't give your attention to those thoughts. You can't stop thoughts from coming but you can control reaction to those thoughts. No matter how much pain you feel just be neutral. Don't dive into content. Believe me you can never beat ocd by logic. By using logic and analysing you will make ocd stronger. Just accept it. Even if it says you are gay, sex addict, phsyco, you have deadly disease, etc. No matter what it tells just move on dont give your attention. If you will practise this long enough then after sometime your brain will understand and you will recover. This is the key in recovering. It is never easy but it is possible and many people have done that before. I am also struggling with it but from my experience I learned that feeling guilty or analysing will never help. It might give relief in short term but for long term you are creating endless pain. So just follow this and see the results in your life. We will recover no matter what thoughts or themes we have. Every human mind has immense power, if we can develop ocd then we also have power to win beat it.

    There was a time when I was about to commit suicide
    I had a mistake in tha past that I couldn't get out in my mind..
    Not a day by gone that i have not spent the last one year in the peace.
    But now I am almost 99% recovered
    It took 3months to.recover.
    The only way to recover your thoughts Is let it to come.in starting your anxiety level will go high,but slowly it will go down,your anxiety level will decrease,plz do not react just try it ones for the sake of your future life.wish u all the best

      I agree! Out of all the techniques out there I feel that the best thing to do is just let those horrible thoughts, feeling and sensations that feel soooo real just sit there. Let the anxiety flow through your body. Observe the thoughts and say absolutely nothing to them. Uugghhh its tough but its working for me. Im glad you're almost done with this! Best wishes!

    OCD made me rethink about something today which was not that bad and I still get what I want but in a new way, even though OCD mad helped me with my work to positive and negative effects (negative emotionally at times).
    I don't need it anymore but it still gives me questions, what if's and perhaps false feelings for other things like worrying about being a bad person and could give me false feelings, I try to analyze why I feel this way or analyze a thought that has to do with my work when I just want to move on but still makes me a question and gives me what if's.
    sometimes the ruminating/analyzing feels like it's on autopilot that I can't help but do it and sometimes I worry it could be intuition when it could be fake intuition due to OCD feeling real.
    like today I forgot what caused the trigger (it was a thought but I forgot the question, feeling, or idk) and I figured out a new way to look at things that I was mistaken but everything that I had before for my story is still the same just seen in a new light but I feel like my OCD (whatever it was ) was right but I just simply forgot the question or whatever so maybe it's not actually right.
    edit before I was finished editing: ok maybe I found out the question I guess basically I don't want anything negative and I guess I was right there is nothing negative I just basically found it in a new way but it messes with what I did already but I can say it's still the same just i need to think of it in a different way.

    We are not our thoughts. Mind is a complex phenomena built for survival. Good servant but a bad master. Seeing that the identification with the mind is a misunerstanding, really helps. Mind creates abstractions from the world around us. Its doing its job as good as it can. But when we mistake those abstractions as the truth, we get all sorts of mental health problems. Not just OCD but other as well. Life does not happen just in our minds. Learn to view life not just through the lense of the mind and its paradigms but by being fully in the present wherever you are. Life might seem scary at times but its even scarier to be trapped in you own imagination.

    • @theepickidnews
      @theepickidnews Месяц назад

      This. I truly do believe 90% of life’s battles are mental. Not that scary things can’t and won’t happen in our lives, but those things lose power quickly out of the present moment that they take place in when you take away that mental weight. When I’m present, life is wonderful. And it’s real and tangible. But when I start to slip into the mind too much, and over identify with all the little things it can say, and the emotions that it can trigger, life then becomes that much harder to grasp and enjoy. Only the now is real. Everything else in a sense is truly just an illusion. Even having that realization, I still currently struggle with OCD, an overactive mind, and gripping unto intrusive thoughts and emotions. But if someone can beat it, than anyone can. Our mind is a tool. If it can be trained into the patterns that create over identification, it can be retrained to naturally do just the opposite. With perseverance, faith, and the art of learning to let go. I do believe it’s possible. I have to ❤

    Hi Ali i hope you're doing well. I have a question. I'm on treatment for my icd but i still get intrusive thoughts that come like ( do this or do that in a certain way/ wash again etc or you will die/harm yourself, avoid kitchen tools, avoid people who talk about self harm etc etc ) and i get the urge to do a compulsion like washing my hands right after the intrusive thought to stop it.
    I also get extremly triggered when i read something about harm or death or s**cide or anything like that. I also get triggered when someone talks about these so i avoid to talk to that person which i know is ridiculous but it's not easy. Should i avoid these triggers?
    It's hard with this type of ocd to expose myself to them as it causes me a lot of panick fear and anxiety.
    Also is it common in ocd to get the feeling like you should do a compulsion right after a scary intrusive thought?

    How do I know if I’m doing a reassurance behaviour, or if I’m just trying to focus on something else? I tend to listen to calming music, or like an Ali OCD video whenever I get stressed during disregarding. Just curious. I don’t really think it is a reassurance, it’s more just to help keep my mind busy like I still have the thoughts but it allows me to refocus?
