In germany even if you are just 16 and only allowed to drive 125ccm and 11kw you are still allowed to drive anithing on private land. So as long as you are not in open space you can technically practice everywhere
Big fan of slow speed drills/ something I keep in mind is starting w/ a baseline reference point/ ie, turns@30'/25/ 20/18/ etc- noting the differences when using front brake/ rear br/ body lean left: right/ are turns shortened/,wider? turning w/ clutch: no clutch: throttle/ no throttle/ but you are correct t- any practice is a gd thing-, so many gd instructors to borrow from. In time- progress is automatic.
I do weaves and "avoiding objects" (around man hole covers) and emergency stops every morning down the empty roads when I goto work. I have however dropped my bike a couple times doing this, So it's not without it's issues. Trying push myself to stop faster, etc. but, I am a shorter rider, so I have to adjust a lot of how I do things.
@@davidlv if you are learning, it’s progress. Controlled environments tend to have a little bit better success but the important part is the desire to learn and improve.
@@xmotojack I do what I can with what I got. I did the parking lot stuff, but it never prepared me for uneven streets as a short guy. So, I practice on empty roads that are uneven, even stopping is a skill in itself for us short guys.
@@JenniferMadden-l9p good question! If you have someone that can come along and help it’s always great to have some guidance and direction, and even some support as you learn. But it’s definitely not necessary.

@@jackk1583 it’s also very rewarding to work on those things and see the progress happening as you continue to practice.
