This is my personal opinion. Not everyone is going to like what I like or dislike what I dislike. I just wanted to make a video as I thought the Yamaha MT-5's provide a great bang for buck and I really do prefer them over my previous pair (AT-M50) $100 for some pretty good headphones is the point lol Of course there's better more expensive headphones out there. I haven't tried all kinds of studio headphones I've owned maybe three pairs over the years. These are my favorite and they were the cheapest of the bunch. I thought people should know about them. If you have a chance to try before you buy def do that. I'm just a youtuber/musician stating my opinion.

Thnx for your opinion on these and I will tell you you're definitely not the only one. Many are pleasantly surprised with MT5. Blown away you could say:) Even more than with 7 and 8.

Would you say Beyerdynamic is the best of the bunch? (assuming you have a pair?)

Hello,I have bought them new last night from PMT shop and I am really disappointed, there is no bass at all! I had Sony MDR-xb600 for many, many years, but hinge area broke☹️,I am listening music via audio interface and broadcasting internet radio,I am surprised that all DJs reviewing Yamaha or Shure 750 are saying that there is enough bass? I am an old fashioned type of DJ and bass and treble are most important for DJs and for everyday use, because we normally listen dance music not rock or metal etc.yamaha has very nice clear sound, but no bass, but what was annoying to,I had to take them off my head after 4min because they were very uncomfortable,I tested Shure 750 last night as well and it's the same story about bass quality 🥺 what's the alternative to those 2?

I own these Yamahas. I just purchased Grado 225e thinking I was upgrading. I have immediately sent the Grado back. Their cable is far too short, they are uncomfortable and I prefer the Yamaha.

Texturas75 It’s really a good Headphone... Unfortunately, I had to return it because they were shouty on some of my classical collections(Bad recordings).. I’m sensitive to treble... I finally settled with Beyerdynamic DT 250... AKG k371 also fitted my taste very well.. I’m using AKG during mobility and glued to DT250 while at home...

I bought mt5 after m30x .. meanwhile I got a chance to check m50x as one of my student have them. M30X is not in the competition at all & I could say that I would prefer mt5 over m50x. Mids are very clear, the highs shine separately and lows are not at all boomy. Total flat.

I tried the overrated and hyped Audio Technica A50X and they were horrible, very harsh ear piercing treble, muddy bass and poor midrange.really mediocre headphones.
But I keep hearing Audio Technica A40X is actually better sounding than A50X and now this Yamaha MT-5..I’d like to know how they differ Yamaha MT5 vs Audio Technica A40X..both are in similar price range.

The 50x is hands down better than the 40x but the regular 50s are better than both

Mt8s are definitely better than the m50s and the mt5s definitely worth the jump. Massive difference vs both the low models for listening purposes, cant say for mixing. Mt7s are weak(next to the mt8s) definite skip. Again, listening purposes only.

Ive used the M50x for 2 years, The HPH MT8's for 6 months and the MT8s are better, but still not the best for mixing. I upgraded to the beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro and they are obviously by far the best ive ever used for mixing. I am now looking for a pair under 100 to use for non mixing and also a daily use and back up for the beyers, as the beyers are open back and I like to keep them stored when they arent in use.

I have both mt8 and the mt5 the mt5 for me has a better bass also the high are not as harsh on my ears when i use them both on my Yamaha genos keyboard. The mt8 treble is so high and the bass is flat but there to analytical and harsh on higher volume also the bass distorts as i tried to turn the bass up on the equalizer. As for the mt5 there not as harsh so i can turn up the volume and the bass is there and more prominent again turning the bass up more to a point so that they don't distort you have to get the right balance before the distortion . So if you like the highs and the more analytical sound yes the mt8 are better however if you enjoy a slightly warmer sound without the harshness of the highs then for me the mt5 are way better and the high are still there. I don't use the mt8 for the reasons as i mention above there still in the box .But to be very honest i don't like either of the two because i want that low end and warmer sound with the high but without the harshness' and the mt5 still lacks on the bass and that's my only gripe with them and i am still looking for a good set of headphones for my keyboard. Was looking at the ATH m50x and the m60s to see if there better than the mt5

@@bioshock6935 you probably want sony headphones or Sennheiser hd 58x if you just want warm sound signature. The mt5s have horrible peaky treble to me and sound overall muddy. You also might want to add an amp if the bass distorts. I have no issues with the bass distorting on a schiit magni.

I just bought the M40x's. They sound nice, a bit boomy compared with open ones (as expected). They feel a bit tight and uncomfortable (I have kind of big ears). I wonder how the Yamahas compare to that.

@@Texturas75 the m40xs are really good at a detailed high frequency. The lows I found were confusing sometimes to accurately hear the bass and where it sits in the mix. The were punch though. At first they sounded harsh to me but overtime I really really dug the sound.
