I have 6 of these. Perfect for SxS utv's. Also have one on a jeep. Two of them split on the seam. I use their mounts also. I also had one come off on a really hard rough ride. I think I need to let pressure off more often. They also have a way to mount them 2 deep. Gets them up out of the way off the roll bars.

I use Jaz 5 gallon cans. I mean they cost a whole lot less and can carry more than twice in volume. No EPA spouts for me. On top of that, I had a spout break and the Jaz rep at a hot rod swap meet just gave me a new one for free! Now that's customer satisfaction.

Somehow got a 3.5 gal Rotopax for $60 a few months ago. Ended up needing a 1gal since the 3.5 was too big on my rear rack and paid $54 for that size lol. What a difference.

How do you know what mounting hardware you need for your particular application? And do you know if there is unique hardware size or type for each gas container?
For example does the 3 gallon container take different size hardware than the 1 gallon container.
    Thanks

I hope that is not the same cheap nozzle on the cheaper gas can because once it is left in the sun and got overheated the plastic & spring latch inside the nozzle came dissemble.

I suggest getting a super siphon hose you can get them on Amazon for 10.00 I run a nato 20 liter can on my truck and I don't even need to take it out of the rack to fuel just open the cap stick the hose in and shake it ....it'll transfer that gallon faster than you can dismount the container and set up the nozzle.

This is a really useful video Harley, even though it's almost a year old. Thanks for putting it up.
I'm considering this for a 4WD Tundra I take off-road, and specifically, for a four-day trip across Death Valley this fall. I'd like to know what your thoughts are about (a) how well filled tanks actually work, kind of hanging off of this blade attachment; and (b) doubling them up, say, two three gallons on one side, versus two blades on either side holding one single three-gallon apiece - going over rough terrain. Any thoughts you have appreciated.
    Joe

    • @HarleyWood23

Thanks man. I actually had to use the gas recently cause I ran out. Link below.
      ruclips.net/video/XSqBHzhnzIg/видео.html
As for the various configurations you asked about, these do bounce a bit. They hang off the rail and there's nothing supporting the bottom. I stuffed a tarp behind it to stabilize it and it worked pretty well. Be sure to Loctite the bolt.

    • @carricknagavna7659
      @carricknagavna7659 9 лет назад

That's critical information, actually. I think I'll either need to stabilize it somehow or go with a hard mount to the crossbox or the truck bed. Drop-in bedliner makes that second option a challenge.
And give your camera man a raise, it's hard to hold an iPhone and gas up from a Rotopax at the same time ....
      Thanks for responding.

Is the water container BPA Free? If not, plastic that sits in heat or in the sun, will emit toxic gases into drinking water. So, wondered if you knew if the container was BPA free. Thanks!

I like the concept but have issues with quality control .. I have purchased three cans, two 2.5 gal and one 3 gal, one of the 2.5 gal and the 3 gal both leaked on the bottom at the seal .. This is extremely disappointing when I purchase three cans and two of them leak without ever being used .. Customer service has been great up to this point as they replaced the 2.5 very quick .. I have contacted them concerning the 3 gal today and am waiting for a response .. So a word to the wise, fill and test them immediately upon receiving or you may have a very disappointing trip when your fuel supply is leaking out all over the ground ..

I can get 3, 5-gallon steel jerry cans with metal holders for the cost of one 1 gallon plastic POS. Plastic is never good for the storage of fuel for the long term. it will deteriorate from fuel sitting in it and they don't last for very long with UV rays also shorten the life of anything plastic. Steel I always the best. The best way to store fuel is in a stainless steel fuel cell-like race cars.
