The slide on the 9E is very difficult to rack indeed. This gun has the feel of a 1911 in MY hand and I really enjoy shooting it. With its 17+1 capacity, she's an intimidating carry piece. Ruger uses what they call 'glass filled nylon' for the frame which I think (no proof) is superior to the polymer materials used by other manufacturers. I'm curious where this 'range' is located. It looks like it's in the Northwest, Washington?

I was right, they are located in Snohomish County north of Seattle. Anyhow, I have since added a SR45 and SR9C to my collection. In all three guns, I replaced the recoil spring/guide rod assembly, striker spring and guide rod with Galloway Precision components. The Galloway parts make these guns super reliable, never a light strike or load/eject failures with all three guns. In fact, I did the 9E first and had the Galloway parts on-hand before taking possession of the 45 or the 9E. All three of these guns are in my carry rotation.

@ Scarpia My sister has the SR9c and it is definitely too hard for her to pull back to rack. Some of the edges on this gun I feel are too sharp as well, but overall I think these SR9s were decent guns and it's too bad Ruger discontinued them.
The scenery around this couple is certainly beautiful, although I don't think I could ever live out West.

I have since completed my collection of the SR series by adding the SR40 and SR40C. The 9E with the Galloway springs is much easier to rack and without light primer strikes. The SR40s are not a problem. I see in my first posting that I should said I had the Galloway parts before taking possession of the SR45 and SR9C, not the 9E.

    It's not a sr9e... Just 9e
