This ground that over time corrodes and needs the eyelet replaced is under the left exhaust manifold near the front of the engine. Follow the negative ground from the battery down to where it meets the small ground wire that attaches to the main ground on the engine. If you look through the bottom part of the wheel well with a flashlight, you can see the 13 mm ground bolt that holds the grounds to the engine. From the top side with a 13 mm deep socket and five-inch extension on my 3/8 drive ratchet I could loosen the bolt. The bolt is short, so when loosened reach down and take it off by hand. The small, loomed wire which is short coming out of the harness is the one you need to replace the eyelet. I replaced with a shrink wrap type eyelet that makes the connection waterproof. Hope this helps with this repair.

Dude, you rock. I am no novice when it comes to diagnostics, but this issue kicked my butt. I never thought that it would lose ground with key on! That's some funky stuff lol. Thanks for sharing this, you've helped a lot of people

You saved my day. My 2005 Chevy truck did the same thing. I was getting ready to haul in for junk price and ran across your video trying to find out why it just quit. Thanks for posting. 5 minute fix and good to go.

Just tried this on my 2004 z71 Tahoe and it fired right up. I been through so many new parts and even a whole column assembly and didn’t get any results until I tried this! Thanks a million!

Dude… this solved our problem with 2004 5.3 reg fuel. He had no 5v signal coming from the ecu to all the coil packs… cranks, but no spark. changed crank, cam sensors, coils, wires, plugs, rear o2 sensors, 1 fuel injector, had mechnics look at truck…no fix. truck got stranded and towed once… 3 weeks of this crap… and it turned out to be this exact same ground issue… note… we had to run a tap ground to both cylinder banks… no more misfires, truck run fine now. … thanks for adding the passionate explanation and the …we fixed it with an old 6ft extention cord for the tap grounds. Could have fixed this for $0 …I feel your aggravation…. This likely applies to all GM 5.3 and possibly 4.3 and others… bad GM grounds. Thanks for sharing!
