Thank you so much for your detailed video and explanations. Just had my truck do this to me this morning and now I atleast have somewhere to start to fix it.
I had a 2003 silverado that would turn over but no fire. I had millivolts at coils and a ground . I put a crank sensor-in it . No help . I then pulled cam sensor . I could lighty smell burning wires. I checked the plugin to cam sensor . We had pulled intake and put knock sensors in . Upon plugging the sensor back in after putting a new oring on it . The plugin got twisted and the 3 wires were bare 1/4 behind plugin . They had welded themselves Together in that twist .I pried them apart with a razor blade and taped them up . Engine fired up and ran fine .
This is exactly my engine. My truck sounds just like yours did in the beginning of the video. I bought a new distributor cap, rotar, plugs and wires. Replacing it all tomorrow. Hopefully...
My 05 Chevy dies and then just turns over won’t start. I’ll come out and try it the next day and it will start and sometimes drive all day then die and won’t start again. I changed the emissions module and it started up drive for a day but then died and now it won’t start again. If anyone can help with any suggestions plz lmk
Excellent video from the expert guy. However, I can't find it's necessary to check the TDC before you check the distributor condition. Then, based on the findings, you have to decide to check for TDC if firing is found ok.i.e means Timing Chain is broken?
Drove to work, got off work, truck cranks, no start, spark and haven’t confirmed fuel pressure yet. Now that I think about it I only checked one plug wire and it sparked about the right amount of times equally so it seemed normal. My spark plug was actually loose af and I hand tightened it back in. My ECM ign fuse thats “always hot” turns off during crank but the spark was still sparking. Thought maybe ignition switch but who knows anymore. Im going to buy a fuel pump, cap and rotor, starting fluid, rent a fuel pressure gauge and try to fix my truck in front of the customer’s house tomorrow. 😂. Thanks for the info. I looked for a way to see if I had fuel pressure but I didnt know it was hidden back there. I was literally looking right in that area. Im by myself and I dont have a fuse box under the hood. (1995 jimmy). It makes it impossible to listen for a fuel pump noise. Had a check engine light come on last summer for a cam sensor I think. It was under the distributor. The light stayed on ever since. Last few months it would lack a lot of power especially in the 1-2 or 2-3 shift. Gas mileage seems ok(15mpg city) so hopefully its simple bc I just got paid and that money is now possibly gone😂😂😂.

Brandon, if you have fixed the fuel pressure, it sounds like you may have a bad throttle position sensor[tps]. Either bad or out of adjustment. Adjusting is fairly easy, usually done with a torx screwdriver and volt meter. Hope that helps.

Replace your alternator, I did mine today and it started right up.(2000 Chevy 1500)
You can get a fairly cheap fuel pressure regulator and check for pressure on the fuel rail it should be about 50 psi.
That will let you know if it is the fuel pump or fuel filter.
A weak fuel pump or clogged filter or bad fuel pressure regulator could be your problem.
