I was planning on skipping Ayato and I just got to 180 wishes saved with chasm, but his trial convinced me otherwise. His E was a lot of fun and I spent days debating if I should pull. Keqing came home in 40 pulls and it took Ayato another 78 to follow. No regrets.
How many wishes did you have before chasm?

I miss the days when Jay would go into the lore of every character,still his videos are entertaining 😂
Mom and dad flew to the heavens and he got a world record on Any% Personal Growth speedrun to become the leader people needed him to be.
I do remember his lore times and I also enjoyed it, but the truth is, there's so much fun content around every character and none of it is in their past. Only a few don't have dark or depressing stories to tell. Personally, I'm ok with the lack of lore. His videos did not lose any of their entertainment value from it.
Maybe he doesn't have enough friendship to unlock his story

At first I also think Amenoma Kageuchi looks better than Haran, but after I got it and ascend it, Haran's the best designed sword I've ever seen so far in Genshin IMO.
Amenoma looks better on ayato because it uses the colors in his outfit's color scheme. Haram definitely looks cool too and is badass on it's own but amenoma is very pleasing to the eye when ayato is using it 🔥

I was farming artifacts for Xiao ever since that domain in the chasm came up. I was pretty lucky but suddenly I got Ayato on my 36th wish. Now I have 3 crit dmg circlet with crit rate for my Ayato but nothing for Xiao

Just a warbing fir ayato mains out there:
DO NOT farm echoes if you have high ping as the set sometimes does not wirk with high ping
Also, echoes is in a very resin inefficient domain so i honestly recommend to farm HoD or use glad pieces you have lying around
I have a well built echoes already, almost same stat as my HoD
I still prefer HoD, consistent damage.
Can you explain how it doesn't work with high ping?

@@voltaicangelo The current theory is that the 4Echoes damage passive is calculated on the server's side, not the client's, so if you have high ping, the information whether the 4pc passive procs or not for that specific slash attack doesn't come back to your client in time.
Also you can replace Mona with Ayato's.😅

Ayato and ganyu in one team and their bursts basically do all the work, both do 5k each so all I do is slap a couple of boba slashes and the enemy gets dusted

Just to add context on his weapon choices (I lucked out as a low-spender and got his signature weapon)
Haran Geppaku Futsu (signature weapon)
-Much like what Jay said, it's definitely his best in slot weapon. The total benefits of this weapon when fulfilling the conditions is 12% Elemental Dmg bonus + 40% Normal Atk damage bonus (1 stack = 20%, essentially similar to HoD's 4pc bonus but only Normal Atks are affected including his E-skill slashes). The collected stacks of the weapon last until Ayato uses an E-skill or is taken off the party; and multi-instance elemental skills like Diluc's Searing Onslaught will count one slash as one instance (so Diluc can essentially fill the 2 stacks on his own). Only real caveat to this weapon are 1) Chasm enemies are very limited so much so that it'd take a while to ascend the weapon if you haven't been farming these guys (the Abyss Heralds/Lectors don't drop as many needed mats as the Black Serpents) and 2) it is very rotation-dependent on elemental skills, so you can't get full benefits when soloing with it (not that it matters anyway lol). All in all this weapon pretty much is tailor-made for Ayato and would be somewhat gimmicky for other units since most sword DPS units have charged attacks mixed in; but even if so it's a great stat stick if you don't have Ayato but you got it out of luck; just not as useable on all as Mistsplitter or Jade Cutter
Mistsplitter Reforged
-This one is a little more friendly in terms of getting the full benefits. At R1 you get 12% Elemental Dmg Bonus + a total of 28% additional character element damage bonus (in his case Hydro) when fulfilling the conditions. This is a lot easier to use in terms of soloing shit (not that anyone would anyway), and the Crit dmg is very welcome. The disadvantage of this however is that Ayato needs Crit rate if anything since he doesn't have anything outside artifacts that increases his crit rate. The reason why Ayaka can pretty much forego crit rate circlets is mostly because Cryo resonance can increase crit rate + Blizzard Strayer bonuses are amazing for crit rates (not to mention Hydro resonance is kinda dookie on the offensive side). If someone happened to luck out on Crit rates with artifacts (very likely people who farmed for Childe) then I think Mistsplitter is a good choice. Damage per rotation, this might outdamage Haran but not by a lot; and I feel like more luck with Artifacts are needed here unlike when running Haran.
Primordial Jade Cutter
-If you have this and haven't lucked out on Haran, this is a really good option since much of its effects amplify Ayato's bonus damage on HP. Caveat will definitely be on the low base dmg of the weapon. I do think this is a very good option if you're planning to get Ayato's constellations on a rerun because his C2 (increases Namisen stacks by 1 and adds 50% HP when he has at least 3 Namisen stacks) will crack this thing to the high heavens.
The Flute (4*)
-Is definitely a good stat stick much like the Amenoma. Unfortunately outside of Black Sword and maybe Blackcliff Longsword not a lot of 4* weapons are that as amazing as the 5* ones (unlike other weapon types where some of the 4*'s are insane even on their own, e.g. WIdsith, The Catch, etc.). I definitely think this is a good thing to build if you're not a fan of Amenoma's passive.
P.S. If you happen to have Ayaka and Ayato, they pair really well if you're thinking of new synergies.

I use ayato, kokomi, beidou and fischl taser comp. Energy recharge is amazing and with kokomi i always have the harbinger of dawn on ayato, it's passive is up 100% of the time
I ran Ayato taser team in Abyss this time, Shogun Burst hyper-carry, Ayato main on-field dps (with shogun bursts in Ayato skill downtime), Kokomi for the resonance, and off field heals/hydro application. Then Beidou for some more electro-charged and to just give Ayato some more help. It works amazingly.

Cool tip, if you have a good Shimenaua and hearth of depth, Childe can use the Shimenaua set very easily. Maybe ranged burst first than E , you don't even feel you are using the set.

Shimenawa is Ayato's most damaging artifact set. You just need to rotate him out for a bit so he can regen some energy off-field.
However, he WILL need a little bit more ER than the other sets, just so that he can offset Shimenawa's 4pc effect. From my own testing, a minimum 155% ER is needed, but I'm aiming for 160% ER just to cover for scuffed rotations.
