- Windtrace is back in Genshin Impact, and since we've all had our fair share of turning into objects and sitting still, I decided to try out the Hide & Seek event once again, but this time doing it 'wrong'.
This means as a seeker, I try to use some silly strategies, and while hiding, I simply don't... Or I at least don't turn into any objects.
I dunno, it's a random wacky video that I hope you can get a laugh or two out of :)

for me, Windtrace is literally the most terrifying game mode. I always look at the hunter on the mini map, and have a massive sigh of relief when I see they walk past me.
getting chased by the hunter is super funny though, or watching someone else get chased.
10/10 game mode, anxiety machine with bonus points for being hilarious.

There was this one time I was just sitting down without a disguise only to see ganyu run past me with Bennett chasing her like I didn’t even get caught 😭😭
i just hid in a tree it was the funniest game lol since i wasn't sure if they could see me or not

The crazy thing is I used the Albedo-maid technique AND IT WORKED 😭

@@Bullminator I did that with wanderer on a map with my friend who is kinda a noob at windtrace, and they were RIGHT NEXT TO ME so I ran away, and they thought I was actually an NPC until I did that 😭
they said afterwards, “note to self: scaramouche is not an NPC”

I noticed that every time there was a Zhongli and Xiao in the game, and one of them is a hunter, they just walk around together and never capture each other. It happened already three times, literally every time there were Xiao and Zhongli together
I played as Xiao and never met Zhongli that would accompany me :(

There was one Sara and Itto having a date it seemed. I sat down the third chair and just watched. Sara took the favor and imprisoned me.

As a veteran of playing Windtrace wrong, 99% of the time you can stand on a tall structure, rock, or cliff right in front, or next to spawn undisguised and the hunter will just not find you. In the new Liyue Qingce village map, the one where you hide inside the village, not in the field outside of it, there's a small gateway right in front of spawn. You can climb on top of that using the two signs next to it. Always works, even had the 60 second reveal a single hider's location favor used on me and the smartest Childe main couldn't find me.
Lol I've done the same thing. Also that spot is pretty good for spotting favor and stealing it.

The Chasm map with the tall wooden structure, there's some banisters that hang directly above where the hunter's trapped in the beginning. I stand above them on the banister and I have had a 100% success rate. It's fantastic.
Actually something like this happened to me, but I was a hunter. Two mf was in village and I found one of them, but last one just disappeared. I couldn't find them. I think they used this tactic.

I think the only "wrong" way of playing windtrace is to try to get as few points as possible. Which is I believe 50 points per game. Easier as a hunter, you just don't catch anyone. Harder as a rebel because others may cause you to get more.
I got like 38 once, maybe even less. A hunter caught all 3 of us at the exact same second about 10 seconds after the match started despite us being scattered far apart. It was weird and definitely didn't make sense, it was kinda creepy. Blocked the hunter after that just in case it was a hacker. I even got an achievement I never got before after playing a total of over 1500 matches of Windtrace, which was 'Had an undistinguished performance' or something. Like what the heck does that even mean
Thats me lol, since I play the same way as hunter and prey. I just in for the primo, and won't touch the mode after its all done 😁.

Why do people go up to the AFK hunter? Because we think they are signaling to throw the game and want to befriend the rebels. Trust is now broken and betrayed, do not approach AFK hunters.
I have to say. I was hiding as a chair in the vines at the winery. The hunter passed me 3 times even pushed me and didn't know I was there lmao

did you know that last year’s windtrace, in the ritou map, there was a little gap between one of the houses and the floor, and you could turn into a stool and climb in? i loved that spot, too bad its gone
in this windtrace in vimara village theres a set of stairs and if you turn into a basket and go underneath it you go invisible underneath grass

When I played as the hunter at Dawn Winery one of the rebels who was Diluc sat down at the table so I joined them for a bit, I went ahead and looked for the other two and when I went back to the table I was met with not just Diluc but also Wanderer
I thought it was funny so the three of us sat down together until the end of the round with a confused Ayaka in the distance
10/10 experience honestly
i once had the best windtrace game. i was playing childe, and was the hunter. a zhongli player noticed me and started jumping near me. when i was released, we were literally chilling. eventually all the rebels stood by me and we sat down on a bench. and for good measure, i used sensory aura on them to get the exp books and let them win👍

@@Axlken214 literally happen to me yesterday. Saw them all chilling at the table, i just went there last minute at around 3 seconds mark, and Bam! All 3 of us rebels captured😂
You know, in spirit of Windtrace, what if you did one of those boss riddles in co-op but instead you went to a random location and gave clues to the other person on where you are? It would definitely rely on the other person not checking the map, but seems like a fun idea to me. Love the content either way!
i think it’d be legitimately hard for them to not check the map if the location isn’t nearby them, bc walking all the way over could be a pain. cool idea if it could be figured out though!
I'm pretty sure you can play windtrace with people in co op aka your friends, you just don't get points or any of the rewards. So it could definitely be done while windtrace is still here, could be stretched out to other rebels giving clues if Java is the hunter and done

I watch this thinking it was the new windtrace and i was confused why is there the chasm map and how is wanderer leaving in 15 hours untill i realised this is the last year's windtrace and wanderer caught 2 windtrace's in a row with his banner
thank god i haven't met toxic players yet who insulted me for being bad in the game but i'm seeing it happen to more and more people and knowing that this is not an irrational fear to have is definitely not helping my anxiety😭 i'm already way too anxious while playing this game, i think i'd just stop entirely if someone was mean to me, i wouldn't even care about the primos😭

2:12 that’s literally what I’ve been doing every single game. I have personally dubbed it “the spider on the wall technique” it’s surprising effective. I usually go Sayu for extra camouflage and smaller model.
I was once at the top of a building watching Yoimiya chasing Xiao and it was super funny XD.
Whenever Yoimiya tries to catch him, Xiao would always dodge the hunter's net by dashing at the last second. The chase lasted for like 45 seconds and he still didn't get caught. The result: We end up winning with the Xiao still surviving.

I feel for hunter on the Chasm map! I was pitifully bad here too, had a person somewhere up high without disguise laughing at me in the chat. This map is so hard for hunters for no reason!
It feels weird to be early and that Java always makes strange and different videos that are amazing and fun
my anxiety always kicks when this event goes up. But man sometimes the anxiety makes you feel alive ya know? Alive and very close to death lol

I mostly hide right at the Hunters Spawnpoint. I realized alot of people dont check the Spawnpoint and just start running straight forward and spam their Search/Capture skills

Windtrace is so much fun, I love it. I only wish u could see the other Rebels, because one time I almost got caught, ran away, went invisible and accidentaly led the Hunter to another Rebel. Then they were like "this is your fault, u led them straight to me". Bruh, sorry that I dont have a fcking clue where u are.
Anyway, loved this video, keep up the great work. Good luck for your Ayato pulls and Raiden, if you pull for her.
If the rebels are marked on the map (for the other rebels) I think they dont do that so people have a harder time betraying fellow rebels and revealing location? Some annoying people do that

Me too except when the hunter is near..gotta move fast(I like the highest point bc u can see the hunter, just put ur volume higher to know if the hunter is climbing to the place ur staying)
personally i don't use disguises, people usually are so tunnel visioned you can just stand under staircase or in random object slightly higher than the ground and they will miss you
I got chased by an albedo as a sayu on the village map (w all the scarecrows) and somehow managed to outrun him in the last minute (he was chasing me the whole time and I was constantly running out of stamina). I was screaming the whole time, I was so stressed
I did the same in the Springvale map, only I tried to contest the favor with Thoma. The hunter got it anyway, so I instead let them see me and ran them around in circles on the path around the windmill for the entire duration of their favor. I got caught, but they never found anyone else. Highly worth it and the most fun I’ve had at windtrace

That afk hunter strat was like watching a kitten rescue video and theyre watching from afar and waiting for the kittens to take the bait to capture them ahaha
I really wish Java would learn how to read. If he did, he would know that activating the favour as a Rebel gives you a massive speed boost, which you're meant to use to run away after snatching the favour. Also what the hunters net is and basically what all the abilities actually do.
This video was really funny and I wish that I could play windtrace but everytime I try my anxiety kicks in and I just cannot but this video made me kinda wanna play it.
I still can't believe they haven't found a way to rework the favor/comeback mechanic. On the large maps, it's usually just a way to further bully the Hunter. Since it's super super easy to steal it
my favorite way to play windtrace is to see if i can do it without disguising at all, bonus points if it's a character that stands out a lot. i won a recent game as ayato in the sacrosanct dominion map, not sure how i did it, but somehow running around to escape the hunter and standing behind other objects did the trick.
just played a game of windtrace at dawn winery where i was the hunter and sat as diluc on the bench and nahida, klee, and ayato joined me. we hung out for the full three and a half minutes. it was great
I tried to do the go invisible and then run behind the hunter strat last night... but I pressed the disguise button instead XD
I also had the same thing happen to me in one round, where I was in a good spot atop a small roof... but when the hunter was nearby, a dead teammate put an entire dead tree on top of me. Might as well have been a beacon... I barely got away! It's a nice idea, but it's pretty easy for your teammates to abuse their powers to try to end the match faster...

I had a hunter come straight towards me while I was a tree and just stare at me till I ran away as a tree still cause I didn’t know how to cancel the object transformation… they just let me run away slowly, I had very mixed feelings about that round 😭
I once watched a zhongli get chased by a childe hunter who was using the favour where only one person is marked and they were literally running back and forth for so long the favour disappeared by the time the zhongli was caught
myself (who was literally on the wall beside them the entire time) and the other rebel unanimously texted "noooooo"

Java, if you play again, equip the net as hunter, it's overpowered :,) (it helps u spot a rebel from a certain radius, takes off the rebel's disguise and you have 2 of them at your disposal, only problem is the cooldown (10 seconds for it)
Yeah. I was really surprised when I found out that they can shoot those mfs up rooftops too. I thought they can only shoot infront of them...

as a childe main (with horrible artifacts) I just type in chat and chill the whole time. met a lot of zhonglis that just stand or just walk around with me. met a lot of fun childes who just went along with whatever gibberish I was up to too.
i actually did what you did in the secong game but i used qiqi so i was smaller. it was really funny seeing the hunter run past me so many times. once they were climbing right under me...haha

my favorite hiding spot for the vine yard one is in between the wall and the crates and barrels as a lantern, or on the wall
whenever im on the springvale map, i always go as sayu, hide in a chimney of a house, and turn into a haybale
there was also this one time i was sayu and hid in a hole. the hunter could see me but couldnt capture me. 10/10 moment. loved it so much

A god hiding spot as a lantern in the dawn winery map is in the corner with the stack of barrels! there are like vines on the wall and if u climb till the very roof and position urself better to seem like ur glitching into the wall as a lantern...I can assure you guys that the hunter would definitely not find you with the 'vines' covering you- (well if u get marked by the favor then I dont know about that...)
This windtrace was really funny when the hunter got trapped spinning on top of a flag pole while climbing. All of us hiders just went out of hiding watched with concern lol.

The last map is pretty op for rebels cause you can just mask as a stone and become part of the wall or the floor, you should try this sometimes :)

Yesterday i played the best windtrace game so far. It was the second Qingce village map. The hunter sat at a table for a whole game, i joined them like a minute in, and we watched the third player run around like a vase and then climb on our table

if you get the qingce village map an dont want to use a disguise, go by the old man (to the right of the hunter) and if the hunter gets close use transparency and climb to the top of the house as fast as you can

The secret to not being captured without a disguise is to either roleplay or to literally just run away from the hunter and let them chase you around the map until they give up. I did that as Scara just to me a menace and in the end I may have gotten captured a few times but it was an effective distraction to keep the hunter from searching for other players (I didn't even need the coins at that point lol) and even after I got captured I'd be a menace to the hunter, following them around, placing stuff and really just talking shit in the chat.
That last hiding spot? CCTV camera? That but as the stone and on the opposite side so you are one with the leaves. Never lost.
Playing windtrace as Yae in Qingce village. I literally don't transform and just hides in the farthest bush, if hunter pick a favor I just change place to near the bridge, and still doesn't transform to anything my Yae just stick herself on the stonewall and she kinda concealed herself inside the roots. Pretty sure that Yae's color theme is pretty contrast to Qingce village color scheme, and the hunter literally run around on top of the bridge xD my heart literally beating so hard.
Once, a hunter pretended to be afk and once we were near them they used capture and won, how smart. But when I tried I failed

At Dawn Winery I usually tranform into a lamp and hide on the floor among the vines.
It works great except at night when you give off light.
This was so funny 🤣 also you and many of the people in the comments must be getting so lucky because it feels like the people I've been playing with on Windtrace are so high level for no reason...I hide at the tallest point(s) or in places where you literally can't even see me and they still find me! Lol

in the maps with chairs, i just sit down and the hunter either sits with me, passes me, or catches me.

I've figured out the best hiding place is under a bridge, I always win when I hide under a bridge, especially if I'm in water, because if the hunter finds you they can't use their capture ability while in the water and it won't reach you from on top of the bridge
this whole video was just java climbing to the highest places he can find and being a security camera
i did something like this, it was a liyue map so i thought it would be funny to just slowly walk around the map as zhongli (in the complete utter open)
the hunter was nice and just started walking with me, then the other two rebels came and walked with us too, it was like this until the game ended, didnt capture
