I have a a Yong Heng copy that has worked great for over two years with regular oil changes. I only fill the two tanks I have with it, do not use it straight into a gun and still no issues with exception of an occasional blown bust disc. If using for tank fill ups I highly recommend a long desiccant and /or molecular sieve filter to trap moisture. Wish you good luck with your unit 👍
They are great pumps ! I have filled my 9 liter Drager carbon tank about 25 times so far from 3,000psi to 4,500psi continuous fill. In my experience I used the Royal Purple compressor oil. And here is why I can run it continuously for hours without it even breaking 45 deg c I 100% believe in running the garden hose through it. I bought a inline garden hose ball valve to turn it on and off at the compressor. Put garden hose adaptors on the fittings. And took another hose and ran it outside into the garden so it waters the plants while I'm filling up. I run a 1/2" garden hose wide open through it and it runs cool as a cucumber topping 1 hour tanks 👍 A reservoir is fine for directly filling the gun though or tiny tanks..but I exclusively fill my 9 liter tanks with it so constant fresh cold water is a must or it heats a 10gal tub up to hot soup in no time.
I have had my young heng for over a year, it's a really durable compressor, and I have abused it plenty. I agree with alot of the other comments, your Slime is a biofilm. The best permanent fix is using 50 50 coolant, kills off the biofilm has corosion inhibitors and keeps it from freezing. Compressor even runs cooler.
Hi James, I use my YH all the time. I love it. I also use ONLY distilled water, because no minerals means no build up. I love your water tank. Great idea ! I use a gallon left in the fridge with the pump and tubes inside from a slit I cut in the side.
I've been telling everyone that asks to use distilled water. I also have water wetter in mine to reduce surface tension of the water to increase its heat carrying capacity.
@@Donny_Juanny I actually used the Rislone Hyper Cool Super Coolant but it's essentially the same thing. It treats from 3 gal to 5 gal so one bottle is all you need.
the best thing about compressor is. i pump my 215cc tank in 40sec. less than a minute topping off over 325 times. That less than 6 hr time on compressor. this will last a long time just pump you gun . remove the little filter and let dry after every shooting session it only get little wet but acts a gauge to what your pump is doing. like how much oil is getting thur that way you dont get rust in the line. great compressor
Hey James, on the initial video about the compressor, I noticed one of the hoses real close to the tubing. I thought to myself that it was getting hot. Great tips!!!
Great video as always thanks 👍 How often should the distilled water be change out? They sell "Silicone" hoses which are more durable and are able to withstand temperatures up to 400° You might consider using those in place of the rubber hoses.
I use synthetic compressor oil, antifreeze plus water wetter, better performance water pump. Silicone hoses haven't been a problem. Cheap oil and dissolved solids in water are not your friend. Fill guns and 30 minute Scott tanks to 4500 psi.
Upon receiving my Yong Heng from Chinazon, I immediately returned it as it did not come with a power cord, a full hose, a Chinglish instruction manual, spare parts, oil, or any of the water coolant hoses. I received just a pump at full price. Out nation is screwed because we rely on the chicoms for everything we buy and they only produce expensive crap that is missing parts.
Nice video and suggestions for folks who use every now and again. UNDER DAILY USE, no matter what you do, they break. Plain and simple. Using 5 and even 10 gal higher output pumps PLUS ICE Bottles, i have YET to have one last, never going ovr 50c, and i run a couple HOURS each day more than ONE MONTH of daily BigBore shooting. . Big Bore Caster, thousands of rounds a month. and these break so fast under a ONE HOUR cycle break. If they see much use, with even the most proper care, they just break. Unless you use a few times a month and NOT a dozen times PER DAY.... i would AVOID if you ever shoot thousands of rounds of Big Bore and air up 4 Scuba tanks a day..... Save up and get a HILL ENGLISH one if you shoot BigBore daily! Great review and input as to HELP others who do not use that much for BIG BORE 510s and such....I have ONE YONG HENG< last me almost three YEARS...but that was five years back, and made BETTER. all around. Now they mass produce and they break and even blow up, under 50c if you use daily and nightly. with Ice bottles even and a 700cfm fan.
the slime Is algey it grows under light. I wasnt aware it dosnt grow in distled water though? I use mine in the sink so the water is constanly Ive tried Ice but it melts.
Once I started filling up the hundred cubic foot bottles I had to go out and buy a Atkins compressor in order to get those big bottles done without tearing up my little compressor.
Good tip with the airlines,, would it help cooling if you used regular antifreeze and when filling a large tank stop every 15 minutes. To keep the temp down. Would that increase the lifespan? it's hard to accept the fact of spending all that money and then consider yourself lucky if you don't has significant breakdowns before one year,, a decent product should last several years if maintained. Of course I realize we're living in a throwaway society nowadays which really sucks!!!
Whats the hottest it should be shut off before I continues use ? I've got one and it's excellent almost a year no problem. However I think a 220v setup would be better so it dont have to work as hard as far the electrical stress is concerned.
Alberta A.- I found out in one of the blogs, that up to 55° C / 131°F is recommended, but I wouldn't push it to, or exceed 60° C /140° F. Hope you find this information helpful. Happy shooting.
moving. Got the one that looks like this, but has no name. Burst disk blowed a few times, can't find them there smaller than yong Heing. Any ideas? Thanks
@James.......brother , this video was extremely informative! You seem like a strait shooter , and always enjoy listening to your info / advice on this PCP air rifle stuff. Thank you! BTW.....this video was a year ago. How is the YH treating up till now?
Good day, I am thinking about purchasing this for rifles from 3000psi all the way to 4500psi...HONESTLY, what is your experience with this as filling an air rifle? Also, would you recommend it? Lastly, how fast does it fill?
in my experience, best PCP compressor out there, the non coolant/oiless wont last long, that's why theyre warrantied for only 1 year with the option to purchase extra warranty, the Yong Heng fills airguns fast but can also be used for bottles
How long does it take to air up the Air Venturi Avenger? My Yong Heng arrives today? Also - what is the volume of the air tank on the Avenger? It's nowhere to found in the manual. I know it'll take 4300 psi.
I would use deionized water, cheaper, and easier. All of your cartridge car washing systems produce zero water as in 0 PPM. I upgraded mine by hanging a 6 inch in-line ducted fan on the inlet air intake with zip ties to assist the existing fan and I never get over 30C topping off SCBA, I never have to use ice. I also ran a sacrificial magnesium (only magnesium) anode in the water reservoir with the wire running to the cylinder head, the aluminum water jacket isn't coated or protected they start corroding almost immediately. I blow the water out, out of my water jacket after every use.
Hi, James: In a long-term grid-down situation, which PCP rifle and caliber would you rate as best for using a hand pump? I only have break-barrels (.177, .22 and .30) and I hesitate to buy a PCP. I live in an apartment and really don't want to deal with compressor issues.
James, I have watched several reviews about this compressor, and have hear d them say not to use an extension cord when using this. What is your take on it?
@Matt Mann a bunch of guys in our Origin owners group have gone with the GX3 and seem to be pretty happy so far. As you mentioned I wonder about longevity. One thing that does attract me to the YH is it seems to have pretty good parts availability should something break or wear out. I'm afraid with some other pumps once they go I won't be able to get parts.
Distilled water will prevent mineral build up like lime and or iron, but the “slim” maybe the beginning of algae development. I know from gardening that transparent watering hose or storage tanks will definitely end up with algae in them. The solution is to use dark colored hoses and tanks to deter that. Once the distilled water is exposed to air, that algae is possible. I’ve heard of people running radiator coolant through their Yong Heng compressors. Anyone have experience with that?

Umarex origin all day. It's the same rifle as the avenger pretty much but the EPT system makes it a breeze to hand pump to 3600 psi.
