  • I just received my OnePlus open yesterday and immediately noticed a fogging issue inside my house in a temperature controlled environment. here's a test showing it fogging up live going from 70 degrees to 40...making the camera useless. I'm sad about this fog. :(

Will do! I'm wondering if it's a warranty issue or manufacturing issue..😮

Hi, I live in Canada and received my OnePlus 12 a week ago. I've been enjoying taking photos and videos with it. However, today I encountered an issue where the camera lenses fogged up when I went outside to take photos on a cold day after being in a warm environment. When I returned indoors and then went back outside again, the fogging disappeared, and I was able to take photos normally. I researched Reddit and many people in Canada and the USA experience the same issue. I decided to return the phone. I love the phone but this issue is annoying and worrying, This phone will not have a long lifetime. I decided to return it and buy an S23 Ultra. I used many Samsung S lines in the past and had no problems.

Took mine out of the box last night, set it up, love it. Then I went outside to take photos, within seconds of being in minus 15c the cameras were completely fogged and unusable. It’s going back unfortunately.

Noo!! So sorry to hear this. I think more people need to be testing these in colder climates. Such a great phone too.

Too bad man! Did you also have the black version? Curious if the green version has the problem as well.

I have the green. Buuuuut, I'm thinking that due to the hinge drain holes, the potential for moisture is there. I'm going to test drying this thing out and seeing what happens. Also, see what OnePlus says...

@mattbon4101 I let mine dry out for a couple days with no luck. Then when I reached out to Oneplus they insisted I was in a humid area. Again, I hope they've ironed it out.

Thanks for the video and heads-up.
Looks like they can fix it easily with maybe some extra silicon or rubber.
Here in The Netherlands just above freezing in the day. Will order the phone and hope I don't have the problem.
Was waiting for the black version. Only the green was sold here previously.

Got my OnePlus Open last week. So far even more happy with it than I expected! Rooting (for adware removal and firewalling) is a bit more hassle and TWRP is not available yet. No problem for me, everything now works as I want it to work.
Cannot replicate the fog problem. Mostly due the coldest outside temperature was around 6 degree Celsius (around 42,8 Fahrenheit), I think it is too warm.
Or they did somehow fix the problem. Manufactured date is 22 November 2023.

100% you'll have the issue. And it doesn't seem to go away... I tested it several times, then customer service promised to get back to me but didn't. I said forget it, back to Samsung. Reviewers live in nice climates or they are covering up the topic.

When I picked up my phone to charge it - the three lenses on the camera were covered in fog. Straight out of the box, it had this issue.

I live in Thailand and the whole return and refund process is a real pain. It's really disappointing to spend $1600 and have this kind of experience.

@tishap7739 It's legit but other reviewers are covering it up or living in California.

Have you tried taking out Sim card like other people have said in forums? Is the fog one time thing or keeps happening all the time?

No way. I don't get any fogging on my Samsung phones.
