Paddy (and others reading this), the tables and stools at Lau Pa Sat satay street are only set up at 7pm on weekdays and 3pm in the weekend. Seeing cars driving through that stretch of road in the background means you were there earlier than that. Believe me, they set up the tables regardless of the weather (I know since I live right above Lau Pa Sat and my living room and balcony overlooks satay street. The only time tables were not set up was during covid lockdowns. Love your content and been following you since those covid days when your travels around Thailand gave me some mental escape from being stuck in place!
Ok noted, I’ll be back for the Taylor ❤️ concert with the missus and we will try again
I'm glad you decided not to scrap this vlog, Paddy. The videos make us feel more like we are with you when things are not perfect, not polished the the plastic stuff on the Travel Channel. This is real life, and I love it.❤
There are so many great things to do in Singapore that would cost absolutely nothing. A long walk along East Coast Park. A long hike along The Rail Corridor. Singapore is small but very big on nature routes. Good for the soul. Don't head to the malls!
Loved it Paddy...realistic and honest. A prime example of life throwing you a curve ball with the awful weather. In true military fashion you provided a great example of 'adapt and overcome'. Great job 😁👍
Thanks mate!
You can expect to pay that much for a beer in the tourist areas. If you go to the food courts below apartment complexes or outside some hotels, you can expect to pay Sing $6 for a liter and get a really good selection of foods at a low price.
It's 8$ minimum and only 600ml
Like your honest videos, much better than a standard "pad krapow" video of which there were thousands already on RUclips. Keep up the good work !
I think it's quite brilliant. Took me on a trip I wasn't expecting. Gotta love that improvisation. Working within a tighter framework gives way to great ideas and pleasant happenstance! It's educational as well. Nice quality of sound, including the background i.e. raindrops, etc, The lighting is tasteful, despite the limitations! Could use a bit more of this style, every so often. Rock on!!
oh cheers!
What I loved about it was we don't all get to travel all the time, but when we do we have expectations. This shows you to push through, nothing ever works out for me when I go overseas. I loved it😂
I love this video. Everyone always shares only the parts that show how much fun they're having making unrealistic expectations for everyone else. You show what it's really like and when things go wrong, it's not so bad and life goes on. I thought for sure you were going to knock your $17 pint over.
thanks!
I really liked this video Patty. I like the reality of it and you sharing your challenges. It inspires me to stop being so critical of myself and just create my videos with what I have. Cheers. Nice to see a bit more of Miss P. She must be getting more comfortable with your job.
Lau pa sat and newton are probably one of the more steep food centers in singapore as they cater more to tourists prices. You still can find decent price ones but they are a rare few due to the increasing rental rate and inflation.
The Indian meal you had is probably SGD5.00 outside Lau Pa Sat.
Thank you, omw to Singapore next week. I had Lau pa sat on my list. There are so many hawkers to choose from, I'll skip it.
At 11:59 as you were crossing the street I just notice there's 4 Porsche at the traffic light. And that gorgeous red 996
This video is fine! Seriously!
Sure, things didn't go according to plan but now we know a bit more about costs and how to better prepare for our OWN epic adventures!
Cheers!
thanks!
Paddy, what a great vid ,I feel I'm on a journey with you🙏
Love you brother. 1 suggestion- an umbrella. It should be an essential item in SE Asia. If not for rain, even the sun. Safe travels and looking forward to the continued adventures!
Hey 👋 ya .. Thanks for asking but it’s raw and it’s fine . These things happen but if you never try you never know !! That rain looked heavy . Glad to see you still smiling . Enjoying Singapore series mate . Have a fantastic week .
Cheers! we're off to S.Korea next week!
I salute you to brave the heavy rain to share this video, Paddy. Best wishes from a sunny afternoon in London ❤❤
😊 Great video whatever I've traveled to Asia every day is different and it's nice to see some rain so let us enjoy it with you and have a great. Time . I think this video was worth your time that's real life and we appreciate it thank you.
thank you patty
WoW Singapore changed so much! It was super cheap place to go 20 years ago 😂 Much appreciated for the raw footage! So real:)
I’ll watch this a bit later after a day of football. Myself and wife who are early 50s love the look of Singapore
Quite a few notable buildings from British rule were preserved: National Gallery, Fullerton Hotel, Raffles Hotel, Hill Street Police station, Hotel Fort Canning
I vlog with an iPhone and I use an audio recorder (Sony) and a lav mic attached to my bag strap. It's easy to sync sound when editing. It's the best way I have found to have consistent sound regardless of which camera I use and the batteries last for ever.
USD 20 is about SGD 27 and you can do with that a day without accommodation and liquor. Food is top rate.
The quality is fine I've enjoyed it thank you 😊
Love it man. The real side of travel. Shit happens. As we speak I’ve started my first big travel adventure. 6 weeks in Europe. It’s just a start. Hope to get to Thailand next. Keep up the good work. I learn a lot and your pretty damn entertaining. ✌🏼
Such a fun video!!❤
Luv yr video but wrong place for the $20 challenge 😅😅
Cheers Paddy I liked the last video that much I’ve watched it a few times,,,peace and happiness on your travels
Well done with your phone mate, hope you got the dji repaired. And as always, C Ya in the next one, cheers 🙌🍻
Thank you for sharing! I like seeing the lows along with the highs ☺️
Dude went to the most expensive Hawker in SG
Chad from CB Media seems to film all his content on a iPhone, and it looks great. It can be done Paddy. We will be here regardless of the picture and sound quality !
You`re a brave man Paddy in this rain. Thank you for sharing! Once again I find your video a bit different and thatswhy more interesting than others made under the brilliant sunshine.
Paddy U went to the wrong place . Lau Par Sir is an expensive place that only office worker go there for lunch. Sorry gotta tell the hard truth
Where should you go?
@@JJ-vy2rh The price of the food at the Hawker Centres in the neighbourhood are much more cheaper.
@@JJ-vy2rh Neighbourhoods further away from the CBD
💯
Good luck on your $20 food exploration. Singapore 🇸🇬 weather can be unforgiving, always carry on umbrella ☂️. Great video Paddy.
do consider going to the heartlands areas like Bishan or Ang Mio Kio for cheaper food options and scenery where to locals are. You can go there vai Red Line MRT from City Hall from the marina Bay areas.
Hiya Paddy. It is good that you share with us the good and the bad.
I do feel for you with your gear. You have had no luck. Your curry looked good. That rain was so heavy.
I love that I will make sure it is not poisonous. Haha. I say that a lot. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day.
cheers!
What an exciting city!❤🌇❤
I'm old enough to remember when Paddy Doyle was passing judgement on all of those "lazy vloggers chasing views". $20 challenge indeed.
But his gears were broken. So he just created something quick and simple along the way.
Lunched at Lau Pa Sat every week day for years. Wonderful selection and great quality. I can almost taste that food.
Good for you to push forward on days like this! You probably already figured this out, but you can still use your mic on its own, and then you can sync up the audio with the video in editing.
Paddy, I was at the same place last week on my trip to Singapore. Currently in Da Nang Vietnam and love it here. Thanks for the video.
I love that place. Went there a couple of times, but never in the day. And never in the rain! ☔
Singapore is so cool. U did well to vlog there! 👍👍👍
$20 won't last longer than a few hours in Singapore
Have your noticed you can only see names with@ at the start?
You can in food court. Just do not go anywhere eg universal studio Sit there morning till dinner time.
Morning - kaya toast or nasi lemak plus kopi o
Lunch - chicken rice + Chinese tea
Dinner - just treat yourself to Indian briyani rice. What the heck right?
Supper - cendol dessert or fruits.
Complete 20 usd.
Don’t worry soooo much! Just enjoy and take us along for the journey 🙏🏼
Drinking game. Take a shot every time paddy says the word ‘cheap’ 😂
You may have left the budgeteers, but the budgeteers will never leave you haha.
This kind of video makes me subscribed to you😂
A difficult challenge to do in Singapore, worth a try though. Good video, thanks for sharing.
Paddy says: "Oh it's so British that Victorian Market. . . . Yes, Paddy Singapore was British ruled for 144 years which ended on 9 August 1965. Singapore separated from Malaysia to become an independent sovereign country. You are so young. 555
Not far from Lau Par Sir is Maxwell Road market where the poplar Tian tian chicken rice is. Further down a bit is Tanjong Pagar market. Next time ya
Thank you for sharing this Paddy
Things happen and it’s nice to get a real take on your adventures. I think a lot of travel blogs and such only deal with the good and it’s totally unrealistic. Sometimes you have to play the cards you’re dealt while exploring and it’s perfectly fine!
If I had known you were in town, I would have bought you a meal.
In my opinion, this is a very vibrant vital video, because it is how it is - so real💦Smile about it✌Thy Paddy for your vlog in Singapore, it`s expensive but joyful time, have a safe travel !👍
Satay Street or Lau Pa Sat (Hokkien dialect meaning Old Market), food over there is not cheap, the price is more towards Food Court. There is another hawker centre nearby named Amoy Street Food Centre, the food there is much more economical.
I appreciated the video. I enjoy travel, and sometimes things go pear-shaped. 👍👍
I spent like 2 hours in that food court in january, eating the exactly the same indian food and some other stuff. Nice food court, nice ambiente but one of the more expensive ones. aaaand we had exactly the same horrible weather and no umbrella. :D
I am sorry to hear about your DJI wireless microphones. I just bought the same ones and I can't imagine having them break! They are so expensive!
don't they come with any warranty/guarantee?
What did you do with your Mini 3 Pro controller? I remember you cracked the screen on that one very quickly... now the DJI Mic.. I use both, but never tried to connect the DJI to my phone.. mostly use with my GoPro. It looks a bit fragile that reciever dangling of the iPhone with only supported by the tiny connector.
Hi Paddy!
There are many food options in Singapore.
Lau Pau Sat is expensive.
I would recommend other food centres like chinatown complex , old airport food centre , Amoy food centre etc.
Do be adventurous and try around.
Awesome effort for your video sorry to hear that your DJI broke.
Hope you can get it repaired.
Cheers
Interesting video, Paddy. At 5:34, I’m sure the pronunciation of “Satay” is “Sah-tay” and not “Sah-tie”. Moreover, I don’t think one can expect cheap food in the CBD. Pity about your DJI equipment. Last time I was there, there was a DJI store. I’ve had very good customer service from them in SE Asia by just walking in with broken equipment and they’ve had me up and running on the same day. Good luck!
Next time you can always go to Funan Centre, Sim Lim Tower, Sim Lim Square to check with the product agent or someone to repair the items.
Welcome to the equator! 😄 I can't ever remember a visit there when I didn't get rained on 😅
Lau pa sat was amazing…I went to the same indian 2 days ago store you did and we found it lovely…..we had the signature dish they did there ❤️ we had chicken and rice from one store then the indian….then in your back ground got drinks from beverage and beer store….amazing food! Video was good btw 👍🏻
Love us some butter chicken!❤ If you guys ever head back to Singapore, we LOVE to show you some of our favourite beautiful (and free!) sights a little further out of the city. Also, sorry about the rain 🥹
Hello Paddy! Greetings from California. GREAT video. All of your videos are fantastic! I'm headed to Singapore in November and that hawker center is very near my hotel. Can't wait! And.....I'll bring my wallet as you advise. LOL. Be well. Stay safe.
You bloke is in singapore? Damn, just thought about you today and there you are in my country. When are you gonna continue the vietnam trip? I went there last year because of you, and i think i caught the bug again this year.
If your staying in Chinatown maxwells hawker restaurants are very good near you and that Louis Vuitton shop has a subway that goes under the water and you come up into the shop little India is good for cheaper food have a good trip
if you walk up to amoy street hawker center its just 10 mins walk from your location , would had a better bang for your buck
A Heatwave is Singapore and you need an Umbrella 😂
Paddy if u bought it with ur cc to buy that mic can you claim the cc insurance on it.
BIG welcome to u and your GF to Singapore!!! hope u hv a great time
You can fix the sound in post mate. Do you edit on DaVinci resolve?
Lau Pa Sat looks like it has undergone major renovations since I was last there in 2018!
People shouldn't compare Singapore with the rest of Southeast Asia. It's a developed country in which prices should be compared with Australia and the likes.
Great video thank you
You did well today, thank you 🙏🏾 for telling the truth Mr. Man
The food in Singapore is 💯. The humidity is a killer though. 🥵 Watching from Vietnam where Nước mía(sugar cane juice) is like 50cents. Great vlog Patty. Lovely to see Ms P too. Safe travels.
Cool Paddy love ur work
I live in South Korea, Looks like you're planning a trip-- curious if you'll really dig into the best parts of the country. I know you like biking and there are so many stunning drives.
$20 works better in neighbourhood hawker centre rather than Lau Pa Sat which is not cheap. Cheaper food in the day time & during working days are around the area instead.
Excellent video Paddy with all the problems you had. Iphone is a good way to go! Interesting little tidbit of info to here you trash 10 percent of what you make.
You should also leave just enough for a 1 dollar lottery ticket, that could potentially win you a million. That's what locals love to do.
Ooh, I'm looking forward to South Korea! 😄
The iPhone video looks better than the Sony.
As a Sony fan, this is hard to admit.
it's not far off
Mate I get sweaty palms if I have curry with no Popadoms... Pure anxiety without them isn't it. Haha
😮tis is not Thai Street...it's call Lau Pat Sat🤦♀️direct translation of Chinese Hokkien (Old Market) 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️, most vendors used to b at Satay club...u gotta know the history to enjoy the food.... Satay is a Malay food... it used to b located along Queen Elizabeth Walk, jus opposite the Padang...
In Singapore you don’t challenge with $20 but challenge with how many nice and affordable food you can find it here 😂
No worries on the equipment, suspect it bugs you about a ten-fold more than any of your subscribers. As an aside, surprised we haven't seen the obligatory Chili Crab yet....(:
You could have got an umbrella at 7-11!
This is cool. I love rainy days. Not everything has to be sunshine, smiles and flowers. upload the crap also paddy ( if you know what I mean )
OMGGGGGGGGGG Paddy..what u doing to yrself??? U look fantastic...10 out of 10..wow...be safe be good..xo
We ate china town because they were cheapest and most tasty food 🤩
Hi Paddy, Yesterday you mentioned that you'll come to Europe, gemman speaking... Let that be Switzerland! If so, I'd love to meet and maybe give you some ideas. Cheers from Zuerich
If you go to Singapore, you are going to get wet. Rain or sweat, that's your choice.
Never Should yourself 😊
You can see the video quality dropped. I was wondering why and now I got the answer. IPhone is great on videos but a mirrorless cam and a video cam are much more better
Shenton Way….ghost town on weekends. LPS is touristy.
Hasha now u know with your experience in Cambodia so cheap for food 😊
20 dollars in Singapore 😂😂😂 that would of went real far 😂
$17 USD for a beer?... that 20 won't last long.
