Singaporeans literally have the most creative city planners, architects, engineers and designers in the world. They thought really hard how they can blend greenery with man made structures and basically created a whole new world - it's not even just a city anymore. It's more like a Disney World, fantasy land interactive experience.
We plan 5 years, 10 years, 20 years and 50 years ahead. Building T5 now.
You're judging this by like 5% of Singapore's landmass. Go out of the tourist traps and you'll see how shitty and uncreative we are as a society. Especially with all the walkways that lead straight into walls under many new apartment buildings.
Loved my visit to Singapore in 2018 we had visited during Chinese new year and the whole airport was decked well for the festival and with the addition of jewel the airport looks even more beautiful.This looks like gardens by the bay inside airport.
Paddy when you come back to Changi Airport go to Terminal 1 public side, go to the far right corner take elevator to basement to Staff canteen (signs everywhere to find it,public allowed to buy n eat food there) cheap as chips and great food
I was just there a week ago flying home from three months in Thailand. It's a nice airport. Coming into Thailand back in February, I spent a 19 hour layover in Singapore. It's a fun, delicious, yet expensive city. I wouldn't mind getting a chance to spend a little more time out there on my next layover to really experience the airport more.

And if you’re still keen, I can introduce you to my Nepalese friend who runs his own trek/adventure company in Nepal. I believe u can get a “guide” but still have the freedom of your solo treks. Pretty sure he can work something out to cater to your style of travel. Don’t let the new “law” deter you from the trip of a lifetime! 😊 I’ve been to Nepal 5 times, so I hope you can experience it too!

Changi Airport is definitely one of the most beautiful airports in the world. So much to see and do and of course the jewel 💎 is the amazing waterfall. The canopy walk was amazing but yeh definitely other areas you can go . Shame about Nepal but understandable so with your trip to Europe I’m thinking as you said mountains 🏔️ I’m sure your going to Switzerland 🇨🇭 I hope 🤞 so it will be stunning to watch the series . All the best and looking forward to seeing your travels for 2023 .

Hey Paddy, I actually did a tour with a guide in Nepal and it was great. I did the Manaslu circuit and that one you had to do with a guide. There are plenty of agencies where you can book customized tour, reasonably prized. I did it with a privat guide, who also carried half of my luggage. It was a nice person and good company as well and I was absolutely free to do the tour as I wanted to. E.g. changing schedule along the way was no problem at all. Absolutely recommend it!
Good to know! Even if it’s not Paddy’s thing, some of us prefer guides to mor easily communicate with locals, as well as knowledge and information you’d never learn! Unless of course, you meet a very verbal local lol. 🙏🏻❤️

Between spending time at the Jewel and having a swim at the airside pool (T1), I could have a 12 hour layover at Changi and be very happy about it. It's truly next level.
There's a free 24 movie theater, free Wifi, free water, free slide, free butterfly garden, sunflower garden and cactus garden. There's a koi pond too and lots of shops to shop.

❤❤❤We also stayed awhile in airport. We took Monorail & saw the Jewel that way. Also sunflower garden, butterfly park & amazing garden with over 1,000 orchids. Brought back memories. Only had 3hrs on site-seeing coach for free, but well worth it. Looking forward to next vlog. ❤️🙏🏼💞💞💋💋
My ex wife did Everest base camp trip as part of a group and I have to say that new law is most probably correct as 3 out of party of 15 got altitude sickness and had to be taken down urgently, one starting to show signs of pulmonary oedema, so maybe for the best but sad

Hi Paddy, I did the Everest base camp as a solo hiker last fall. It’s true the new rule about guide was brought in, but the local government in the ebc region has refused to enforce it. Solo hikes are totally doable. Highly recommend it.

Some of the best lounges in Singapore airport too. Lots of HK expats moan about Singapore but there is a tonne to see and do if you have energy to tolerate the heat. Mcritchie reservoir is my favourite accessible jungle in any Asian area. love bar hopping the various quays along the river. I’m going to be heading back to Europe soon myself to hopefully run in the alps.I’ll be staying in Switzerland near Mt Blanc but running in Italy and France too.

How old is that waterfall? I flew in and out of Singapore in 2017 and never even noticed it. I'm the suckiest traveller ever. My highlight in that place was Universal Studios and the zoo. Not an easy country for nasty smokers like me. It is so clean and lovely.
Jewel was officially opened in Oct 2019! Smoking is allowed in Singapore but only in certain places - open areas with no shelters or designated smoking areas.
As a local, I mostly head to the basement levels where there are mid priced eateries, a food court, a supermarket and a cinema! The canopy restaurants are for tourists mostly 😂
A few totally unrelated comments. First, looks like we're getting a slow reveal of Miss P. Second, $27 USD for those two meals in a major international airport seems very reasonable. I'd spend more on a couple of beers and a hotdog at a professional sporting event. Finally, give some more thought to the Nepal trip. There's a real opportunity here for an entertaining buddy adventure. Remember "Cowboy" in Cambodia. I know the challenge here is to find a cowboy that would bring the right chemistry to the series. It's a risk, but I think you could pull it off.
Those in transit don't have access to the fountain , you can catch a glimpse by taking the train.

Paddy hope you will reconsider Nepal for later this year, November is a great time to do some trekking. I have done 4 treks in Nepal, as a solo traveler but always with a local guide. For me a guide adds so much to the experience, besides safety. Many people in the mountains don't speak English (or very little), so a guide is the perfect bridge between you and the locale Nepali people. I was able to share so many story's with them, because I had someone with me to translate everything. For you as a filmmaker, it's also practical to have a local guide with you. He can film for you and point out the best views and locations!!!
I was shocked to hear about the law. I feel very sorry for the independent hotels, restaurants and other small businesses that are now hostage to the tour guide mafia along the trekking routes. I guess there wasn't enough business to go round after covid, so they made a power grab to control all the available business. So sad.

Hello! Could you please tell which month did you visit singapore?? Because getting such blue skies in singapore is quiet rare to be honest.
Singapore is my favorite stopover, the airport is so close to the city and you could get the best food in the world for less than 10 usd, (the restaurant that you chose is overpriced and the food is so bad, I made the same mistake)
did you go down to the bottom/basement floor? you can see the waterfall from underneath! and three's good food down there.

Too bad you can't go to Nepal but I know they still allow lone trekkers for EBC-Sagamartha area but for other areas ie. Annapurna they require a guide.
