Thanks to our sponsor, Take Me to Japan! Check them out if you’re interested in visiting Japan and learning Japanese! :D
They have a few quick tips for those of you looking into moving here, just visiting, or learning the language:
    1. Language school is one of the best ways to come to Japan; the wonderful staff and people at the school will provide a great support network for you, so you are not alone on your journey.
    2. There are over 500 language schools in Japan. Every school has a different atmosphere. Some are really casual, helping you learn Japanese without feeling like you’re studying. Others are more serious with students studying towards proficiency tests. Take Me To Japan will help you choose and apply to the one that suits your needs, and they’ll even help with visas and finding accommodation.
    3. Learning Japanese will help you experience Japan more fully, and will expand your career opportunities to things other than teaching your native language.
    4. There is no age or education limit; whether you are 14, in your 20s, or in your 50s, you are welcome to join. Even if you know zero Japanese.
    5. You can come for as short as one week to up to 2 years or more. There are a variety of courses where you can do everything from enjoy a memorable trip learning conversational Japanese, try fun cultural activities, or study hard toward getting into a Japanese university or finding a job in Japan. There are many jobs open to foreigners once you’re living in Japan, and it’s much easier to apply for them if you’re living here rather than from your home country.
    6. You will meet people from all around the world, with many different backgrounds (students, professors, business owners, etc.).
    7. All other information is on the website, so please read the FAQ and send an inquiry there! -> www.takemetojapan.com

@@bumblebeehappy Bees I understand that it's different since I'm a black girl living in Japan. But she acts like the concept of straightening perm is an entirely new construct only found in Japan. And in her follow up video where she mentions relaxers, it seems like she still didn't understand what it is, since she said they weren't permanent. I'm just amazed by white Americans' complete obliviousness of African American culture. We've been in America for hundreds of years. I get really interesting questions from Japanese people that shock me, but I'm sure I'm the first black person they have ever met. I have nothing against Rachel. This page helped me adjust to life in Japan. I just find it amusing. That's why I said "chuckles in black girl"

There are many parts of America that simply have such a low black population that it's not really something white girls would know. I've lived in both areas and in-between. I don't believe she's trying to be rude, she probably just didn't get exposed to it. America has a lot of different cultures in different areas, not every American will be exposed to it all.
