I have watched the last 3 years "end of" vids and watched every video throughout the year. But I still can't wait to watch all 3 hours of this. Haha bravo John for making such entertaining content
Wow. I was just watching this video again and caught when you said you traded a red Donkey Kong for the Pole Position. These days you could buy 5 Pole Positions for one red DK. haha. Oh how times change.
All things equal. Id rather have the blue one. The red ones have sum glitch when ur on the ladders. The barrels won't come down if you're near the top of ladder. Also, think the reds have the 4 stack board and u cant add D2K. And pole position is a fantastic game
Great job John on another fun-filled arcade year... Here's a thought, I'm sure I'm not the ONLY person that thinks this but, You've mentioned her a few times in this video, we want to be introduced to Mrs. Arcade, You know the woman that puts up with your arcade shenanigans! =) Just a thought, Happy 2018 and years to come!
The PPU is the Picture Processing Unit. There's one in the NES as well. People have pulled the PPUs out of Play Choice 10s and put them in their NESes just to get RGB output. Though you have to patch the games to be compatible with the different color palettes.
If I were you I'd leave the sente cabinet where it is and swap the mortal kombat 2 for one of your smaller cabinets such as the PAC Caberet or computer space ball. The mk2 just sticks out to far and is to wide for that spot. I think the computer space ball is the best choice because then I'd be right across from the computer space.
Great video. If you get the extension cables for your camera, an interesting live stream might be to go around and fix all of the little problems like the light on tron. Just a thought.
That story how your Quantum came to be is insane haha game looks very cool. So many good games man i got a chance to play Jay's Major Havoc at FreeplayRI, was my first time playing it, has beautiful graphics. Paperboy is totally worthy of nice sideart and restore for sure man. That's cool you dumped the rare crazy climber rom for mame. I like discs of tron ; ) Qbert is so classic its crazy. Tapper's side art always reminded me of the show Cheers' intro. 720 was always elite for me, older kids were killing it and id like die from bees and fail epically haha I would absolutely convert that sente cab to a Stocker, one of my grail games. Goodstuff man be well.
I can’t watch until later, but I was about to put on a Cinderella tiara and get into a fetal position waiting for your video, John. It ain’t the new year until I get to vicariously down an adult beverage with you while you recount your accomplishments. I hope you fixed the popcorn machine for the occasion. I’ll find out later!
45:34 I'm not sure if Luigi was named in the arcade version, but he definitely was in some of the advertising for home versions. (particularly with the commercials parodying the 'Car 52, Where Are You?' theme song.) Edit: 45:48, there it is.
I saw your vid on galloping ghost arcade I was going to Chicago like a week after I saw the vid that place was amazing and a great find my freind and I luved it
a old nes controller i had you used too do that kind of thing with and i used too use a role of electical tape too rock between the buttons in time like that and was fracking nuts at it
Hey John when your ready to make the jump to golden tee live drop me a line to see what some of your options are. Just finished my triple gt 18,silver strike X and power putt combo. You won't regret it.
Great line up of games! Another super end review, always look forward to your videos. I think your missing a shooter,..operation wolf?!*hint hint*personal fav of mine.:)
On the Robotron brain level, do you know the trick of keeping the brain guys from grabbing Mikey? The brains won't turn the moms into evil moms until they pick up Mikey. So don't pick up any moms, at all, try to kill all the brains, and keep one of the firing robots alive. You can then clean up every single mom. Massive points.
Cool stuff. I'm surprised I've never heard of some of these. I'd have more fun here than at the huge ohio amusement park arcade I just watched a video of. That one vector game major havoc is tripped out. They had a 720 machine at the 711 around the corner from me but I think I'd die right away to bees and then have to leave. IDK but I was always way more into the idea of the game than I got to play it. I remember being let down by the nes version. I recently noticed the 1985 Disney movie 'The Black Cauldron' looks and sounds a lot like dragons lair and space ace.The sound and animation is so similar. It even has yellow flashes once in a while
1:34:16 Hey John, it seems as if the Pinball 2000 flipper action isn't as "solid/tight" as some of the other pins?? I have a Star Wars Episode I, kinda feels like my flippers aren't as responsive as my others???
I love love love my Star Wars Episode I! It's one of the most played by my family and friends...I am going to LED mine also. Yea the flippers feel just a bit slow.
John you missed a secret warpzone in super mario Bros when you made that block appear on 4-2 there's actually a secret vine in the blocks near there you can climb it and in the nes version it takes you to 8-1 Vs version I think takes to 6-1
John I think you should do what Ed fries did with computer space and do the little mod he did to make the coin return coin the game up that way you don't have to put quarters in and it will be easier to play it same with computer space ball
The reason why vs Super Mario Bros. is harder is because they replaced the later levels with levels from the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 levels, also known as the lost levels in the states.
I played a really glitchy cabaret version of donkey kong Jr at a retro arcade in Monona Wisconsin once it was deffinetly a strange game lol especially cause the board or monitor wad flakey
Oh, when you said "LCD" and then paused a bit, for that second I was like, "Oh, he's not gonna say it!" But then... "...display technology"! Ahh, you HAD to go there! "Ahh, he had to say 'LCD display' again!" There's no such thing as an LCD display!
Totally off topic but is John the admin for the forums or has that been delegated. Applied some time ago and still awaiting approval. Keep checking my junk mail but nothing. Tried logging in but says still awaiting approval.
About losing sound. Strange thing happened with my Galaga that has a 60-1. Walked across the carpet with socks on and when I touched the coin door, received a nice static ⚡️The machine was powered on and I lost sound. Did I the ole reset and back to normal. Found it kinda strange. Nice video 👍🏻
I only have 90's and 2000's machines in my arcade but if you were to have a open invite at your arcade, I'm coming for your journey score and golden tee score lol
How do people program their own versions of these games at home? On what? What kind of emulator can they get these things to run on before burning them to E(E)PROM?
Opening the ice-cold-beer coin door has become a part of these new years' videos. Opening it would be like sniping Santa 360-no-scope.
I have watched the last 3 years "end of" vids and watched every video throughout the year. But I still can't wait to watch all 3 hours of this. Haha bravo John for making such entertaining content
Love seeing people keeping the arcade alive in 2018. That galloping ghost video is 👌🏻
This video has the best rewatch value for an year end review. I just love it.
Yay! I’ve been jones’n for some John’s Arcade!
I absolutely love these year end videos! From one Jon to another, keep up the good work!!!
the tube for the skate game is ok jhon, you just need to put some fridge magnets at the corners of the tube to focus the 3 colors into one.
Part one completed. What an excellent episode, though I fell asleep half way through and had to go back again.
I leave the channel and come back for this one video just so I can be shocked. And then I go back and watch it all.
I thought you put the music in yourself for atmosphere....but its golf. Great video.
Binge watching in 2021. Hope you're doing great John! Miss you man.
Wow. I was just watching this video again and caught when you said you traded a red Donkey Kong for the Pole Position. These days you could buy 5 Pole Positions for one red DK. haha. Oh how times change.
Yeah. Bad move maybe. Lol.
All things equal. Id rather have the blue one. The red ones have sum glitch when ur on the ladders. The barrels won't come down if you're near the top of ladder. Also, think the reds have the 4 stack board and u cant add D2K. And pole position is a fantastic game

This is 2017 video u mna
@@davidbanan. it's the *year end* video for 2017.
Your basement is full of awesome, rare Arcade Games!!
I'm happy for you, that you obviously can live your dream.
Well, arcade games, but yeah.
Check out the big red, it should have a headphone socket next to the memory card reader.
Always enjoy the year end reviews!
This popped up on my feed ,thought we where getting a New end of year vid but it is an older one ,still worth watching :)
The PPU is the Picture Processing Unit. There's one in the NES as well. People have pulled the PPUs out of Play Choice 10s and put them in their NESes just to get RGB output. Though you have to patch the games to be compatible with the different color palettes.
Yes, I know. :) Certain VS. PPUs work with the NES RGB mod. The prices of those PPUs shut up crazily.

The mk2 just sticks out to far and is to wide for that spot. I think the computer space ball is the best choice because then I'd be right across from the computer space.
Greg Elliott i was thinking the same thing i was thinking the pacman though or even crazy climber because that has a small footprint as well.
Good call on the Space Ball. I was just going to suggest he move the MK2 if he's going to keep games there (after he's done restoring it).
Great video. If you get the extension cables for your camera, an interesting live stream might be to go around and fix all of the little problems like the light on tron. Just a thought.
It's been another great year for the channel. Many thanks and all the best for 2018!
Need to binge watch this later...
Franz still has your laserdisc player, but do you still have buffet's crimpers?
Aww, shoot, the restoration of your I, Robot control panel was SO good that you even forgot to mention it here!
Video starts- & automatic like. Thanks John!!!!!!!!! Keep it going!
Great video John. Look forward to the next part. Great meeting you at Arcade Club UK last year 👍
Red Dk... oh my. The history you know of the companies is cool man. Great collection, watched an hr, will watch more later ; )
Thanks!

Tbh you should put computer space ball next to computer space.
HAPPY NEW YEAR JOHN!! Look forward to you flipping the switches on each year, thanks for all the vidz
"I just don't have the time in my life to ever do this" ...says the man who's doing exactly _that_ right now!
just realised that matt ownsby worked with my brother on daphne emulator..its a small world.....my bro is paul blagay btw :) game programmer
i would do a travel very far away just for playing Tron again... LOVE THAT GAME
So this is the first time you've ever touched that Q bert tax stamp! Wow!
*sees facial hair* a new year, a new John
Apparently you didn't see the previous videos.
You're right! I need to start catching up
I saw your vid on galloping ghost arcade I was going to Chicago like a week after I saw the vid that place was amazing and a great find my freind and I luved it
And remember Jon last year end of the year video is when your journey arcade game video started breaking.
Yeah it was me who suggested it 😉get on Twin Galaxies for Computer Space! 😁 I could found track for you as you need points to do so 👍
Miss you John. Rest in peace. What a terrible accident
Hey John, when is part 2 coming out? Can't wait...
My mvs 4slot has the same problem with the sound going out usually just dirty slots. You ever use the headphone jacks on it?
I have a dent-puller that can pop open that ICB door.
We should do a video together opening it. :)
Like Al Capone's vault.
Oh, NOW a tell'im, Adam!
Yeah, S, I agree! And then edit the live after the fact to have the opener and closer, etc.
Have you opened it yet...?
When you first start showing Pole Position, you can see the reflection of those missing kids. Creepypasta!
Anyone know if this guy is still around? I have a 1980 Williams Black Knight pinball machine for sale.
He's been coming and going for the last 3 years. I'd say 2018 was the last proper year of this channel.
@@RWL2012 do you know why he’s doing less content?
@@davidrockefeller2007from what people have been saying, being an operator, modern gaming and "life" have taken over.
holy crap! where's part 2? you keeping us in suspense on purpose? :-P
Awesome tour of the basement arcade!
I can not wait for the next video i love your channel. This video was great and i been waiting for this all year. John keep up the great work.
a old nes controller i had you used too do that kind of thing with and i used too use a role of electical tape too rock between the buttons in time like that and was fracking nuts at it

That TV needs new filter caps. That's why the numbers look like they are bending in the wind.
Dude, you HAVE to open that coin door on Ice Cold Beer!! It could be full of treasures, Government UFO Top Secret Papers or whatever! :D :D :D
Cool stuff. I'm surprised I've never heard of some of these. I'd have more fun here than at the huge ohio amusement park arcade I just watched a video of. That one vector game major havoc is tripped out.

Pole Position Trick
High Gear, Low Gear, High Gear, I learned that ages ago by myself.
John, YOU are the GREATEST! Btw, the John's Arcade T-Shirt I bought from you is simply amazing, Man! Thank you for that also! And...: BYE! ;)
1:34:16 Hey John, it seems as if the Pinball 2000 flipper action isn't as "solid/tight" as some of the other pins?? I have a Star Wars Episode I, kinda feels like my flippers aren't as responsive as my others???
+Arcade Hollywood not sure about that. It does have a different feel. Sometimes need to play a few games first.
I love love love my Star Wars Episode I! It's one of the most played by my family and friends...I am going to LED mine also. Yea the flippers feel just a bit slow.
Pole Position was my favorite game in the basement.
If I had infinite power I would make your basement arcade easily put the Galloping Ghost to shame.
You need to travel to arcadehry a retro arcade museum near prague with tons of original cabinets!!!
I would give myself to John
My bbc version, which was great, had mountain dew instead of bud.
Being I scotland in the 80s didn't have a clue what mountain dew was!.
John you missed a secret warpzone in super mario Bros when you made that block appear on 4-2 there's actually a secret vine in the blocks near there you can climb it and in the nes version it takes you to 8-1 Vs version I think takes to 6-1

Which game plays that delightful 3-note tune over and over that doesn't make me want to blow my brains out? (Oh, the golf game.)
Does Major Havoc machine always flash or is it a camera issue, whilst filming??
40:27 i used all my energy on that game one time when i went to the arcade
Oh, when you said "LCD" and then paused a bit, for that second I was like, "Oh, he's not gonna say it!" But then... "...display technology"!

XTronical bro they don't want you.
Love the beard John, I believe it will bring more subs :-)
Love the popcorn machine I have the same one in my barcade bro
New to the channel. Great collection!!! Are u making any videos soon ?
He disapeared
Can't fit more games? Time to move, lol.
I have some questions about how to wire up to the right connections
crazy climber reminds me of that spiderman game on the Atari 2600
Neo Geo had volume and headphone I believe....

John no buying anymore games until you get a keggerator for down there. I have less games but 6 beer taps. Priorities.
