Great video. Clear, simple presentation. I like the addition of the finger guard at the end of the sled to prevent the blade from going thru. The microjig slots are a great idea. Simple to do.

Thanks Bill! I do think the box is smart reminder to keep fingers out of the way. Thanks for watching!

I never had many skil tools but did have one of their 3x18 belt Sanders. I really liked it and had it for many years. I was using it one day and a chunk of the commutator broke off. I couldn't find a replacement rotor so sadly had to get rid of it. I might have to look into the product line again for good budget options.

I never owned a Skil tool before this channel. The first Skil vid I bought a brushed 4 tool set and wasn’t too impressed. Since then Skils sent quite a few new releases and they have all been very good. I’ve really changed my option of Skil in the last 6 months and I honestly wouldn’t hesitate to buy Skil. Buy the newest stuff if you go that route. Thanks for watching!

I’m about to build my first sled. For me, def worth 25$ to have the guidance and kit for first time go. In the future, who knows. Besides, 25$ is same as 2 dozen eggs these days, totally worth the price of a few omelets.

It is nice to build your first sled from a lot with instructions. Thanks for watching!

Nice video, you do a nice job of pros vs cons. How are the micro jig dovetails holding up for you? I have had some bad results when using other types of woods, when you tighten down the wood gives out to easily. When watching this i realized after some thought on it that i had not tried them in plywood, duh moment huh.

Hello David! I’ve got quite a lot of use on the hardware since the vid and all the channels I’ve made are still holding up. I do have some that get stuck though, when I loosen the wingnut I have to push the dovetail bolt down to the bottom of the channel with a pop and then it’s loose. Possibly the channels aren’t perfect size because I didn’t use the official router bit? Thanks for the comment!

Newbie here. Question: For the checker board design that is for the dove tail bolts, the checker board design doesn't have to span the whole board. I mean if you only have the left side with the checker board design you can still get the "mirror cut" or right side by just flipping the wood upside down and 180 degrees.
It's late at night, I might be wrong.
Very cool design, thanks for sharing.

I have to ask…. Why not just dove tail the whole thing? It would really only save you 3 passes and the last ones are the fastest to do.
Just 180 would do it but your blade slot would be off because most (I think) saws slots are different distance side to side.
It’s late here too. Possibly neither of us makes sense. Thanks for watching!!

Central Machinery Dovetail Fixture .... "This is probably all this is good for".
I have been shopping for a Dovetail Jig. I gather that you do NOT recommend this one :-)
