Absolutely outstanding #Seekers the best its unbelievable well sang and you guys gave the best respect to our natives families the islands of fiji 🇫🇯 Vinaka Vaka Levu ...Love from USA 🇺🇸
Originally a Tongan song used as funeral/tangi backing. Moved on to Fiji late 1800's and eventually was commonised as an average farewell song, my grandfather had this played at his funeral as he loves the islands so much, the words translated are heart breaking, the raw emotion and love performed originally was outstanding, and as much as this is nice it doesn't have the real emotion behind it. Hope this answered your question (:
To my knowledge, this recording of Isa Lei was adopted in the promotion film prepared by Fiji Visitors Bureau or Fiji Hotels Association as the back music, around 1979. Does anyone know the fact?

Nice try but no...
This song was composed by Fijian Chief Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba, father of former Fijian PM and President Ratu Kamisese Mara.
Sweet memories…thank you so much. The fact they are not Fijian makes it even a treasure.❤️❤️❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼👍👍

It's a farewell song with the emotion of leaving is deeply entrenched and cherished for future times.
0:06 -- the picture is too much horror for this video.
Can't we handle just one picture where they're not smiling? It fascinates me that it's possible.
Sorry, wrong picture.
