Actually, Joss has stated that had Firefly had a second season, he would have had Spike show up in a scene. He would be sitting at a bar and would have said, "Nothing changes. Trust me. Nothing ever changes." So, you're not too far off. Buffy, Angel, and Firefly actually *are* all in the same Whedonverse.
If that's real, I'm gonna KILL Fox. And I was going to anyway...
As much as I want to believe this, isn't that exactly what happened with Jack Harkness in the Whoniverse?
in the comics- spike had a spaceship at one time that was ruled by cockroach alien demon things- so this could actually happen and be cannon easily
I know it's 6 months later, but Whedon reused people plenty. Zoe is played by the same actress as Jasmine from Angel. Johnathan M Woodward played the vampire in Buffy's "Conversations with Dead People", Knox the scientist who helps resurrect Illyria in Angel, AND Tracey Smith in Firefly. Joss really likes reusing actors lol
Stiles Stilinski Jack is pretty much a near immortal, it's only way, way into the future after he loses his human form that he finally dies.
Less drifting apart and more financial shenanigans behind the scenes that quickly and quietly ended one of the best RUclips series ever made.
Soren and Daniel have a podcast.
Quick question with Soren and Daniel.
It's not this, but it's pretty good.
Ugh, ikr. I used to read their articles every morning while I ate breakfast while in uni:) and I was so devastated when cracked fell. They really made some good stuff. It’s unfortunate they couldn’t figure out how to monetize it sufficiently.
Thank you!!
I’m going to look this podcast up right now
My favorite part of this episode is the end where they say they've wiped Michael twelve times... thus implying that he's figured out the conspiracy more times than the others. So Michael was originally the smartest of the group but we only get to see the brain-damaged version.
Isn’t that just Nimdoc from I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream
@@alicethemad1613Plus Kazan from Cube.
i especially like that this comment is 7 years old and is still getting replies a month ago
Michael has proven multiple times that he's actually capable of very complex, deep thought, as well as well thought out analysis. He sometimes has bursts of intelligence that shocks everyone around him. So if the ending of this is canonical, we can assume at least two things. His intelligence is still in there, but some combination of baser urges (like sex and food) distracting him constantly, and his entire demeanor being made fairly childlike makes it hard to access or observe. And Dan may either be impervious to this process, as his eidetic memory never seems to dull, or at the very least he'll take the most wipes to actually damage him to the point we see Micheal at.
Finally, this also means that Dr. Mr. Cody is not only a shadowy operative, but a higher up who gives orders. Yet still shows up multiple times over the course of the series, spying on this particular crew, dressed as a worker at whatever diner they are at. Probably made that time they recognized him very tense, lmao.
@@timlycantrophe lol yeah, apparently we all felt it was time for another rewatch. God I love this series. Lol
(Also, irl swaim is the smartest of them. Dude could have been something big if he was able to apply himself. I can relate.)
"i assumed we were just spinning our wheels until we inevitably drift apart" the sad part is that is what happened :(
Kinda, but they drifted back, specifically the table read of the final After Hours episode
They're still friends, IRL!
Has anyone else only subscribed to Cracked just for the after hours?
+James Bethell No. Most of the time I leave after the first few minutes because they fail to get to the point quickly taking more time than needed. They don't need 4 people to do a simple count down list. Their "discussion" detracts from the topic.
And that's exactly, why we love After Hours :P It's not count-down list like thousands of others.
me, but then I found obsessive pop culture disorder which I also like.
might be
Just after hours and the videos daniel does
I've seen this one before but never noticed Cody and their waitress behind the counter reacting while they were talking until now. Pretty cool
Jess I JUST NOTICED THIS TOO
After they all reacted did you notice that he was on the phone for most of the rest of the episode?
So, who was in the reflection in the window behind Soren? (or outside). It wasn't the cast. Was the one with his back to us Spike?
And explains why no one remembers Daniel's Pixar Theory!
I had to rewatch this immediately after reading this comment, and it just adds a whole new fun layer to this show. The waitress was out there a LONG time, and both of the guys were dressed like people trying to hide their faces (coat with large collar kept up, and the hoodie/jacket combo).
Years later, this show keeps on giving. ❤️
@@shaon317 how about the cups changing positions with the camera?
"name Joss Whedon projects" *proceeds to name everything major, minor, and in between except for the masterpiece named Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog*
Me: not again
+Ethan Binotto mmm maybe bad horse is a demon and captain hammer was a employee of the institute. Then Dr horrible original worked for the institute found out it was corrupt(possibly by hydra) and is working to take it down.
brandon spitler,
They have a canon prequel comic. Dr Horrible just likes underdogs, which in their universe, was the brainy villains. Because Billy realized early on that the heroes are stupid bullies, and the villains are brainy men brave enough to attempt making change. Yes, the changes seem bad, but a lot of these villains were probably being bullied as kids just like Billy.
Caleb is resurrected as someone who's still a TOOL
i know
Five years late but Dr. Horrible was his brother’s show, not Joss’.
Not until almost the end did I remember that he said with ranch so that stuff on his apple is ranch.....
candy apple with ranch.

I love how M. Night Shyamalan's IMDB account has updated to include his writing credits on After Hours.
I had to check, and that is pretty cool.
That's awesome.
Omg
Soren: "I just figured we were spinnin' our wheels until we all inevitably drift apart."
Me in 2019: *sobs uncontrollably*
Have you seen the new stuff they've done together? Check out Off Hours and Some More News
Did anybody else notice the Guest Director Joss Whedon and Guest Ending Writer M. Night Shayamalan thing at the end? ...That's just a joke right?
Anyway! The next topic should totally be "Why Every Episode of Cracked After Hours Takes Place In An Alternate Reality"
N.Night actually has it on his IMDB credits, so I guess real.
Dollhouse and Agents of SHIELD share a direct connection.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
When Agent Coulson wakes up in "Tahiti" (the magical place), the first thing he says is, "Did I fall asleep?" to which the masseuse responds, "For a little while." This is the same call and answer scenario used in Dollhouse to make sure a doll has been successfully "wiped" of their previous identity. It also gets used just to indicate that some meddling has been done with someone's head.
Basically, they hinted that Agent Coulson may be a doll.
Which makes even more sense when you consider that he was killed (Coulson) and yet he (seemingly by magic) re-appears in the newest Avengers movie. Therefore, not only is it possible that he is a doll, but also that the everyday people around him are as well. I mean think about it. How many people die in every one of those movies? And yet every time a new one comes out it's like the only people that seem to recall all the carnage are the main characters (with a few exceptions, like that one girl Thor totally bones).. woah.. I just blew my own mind. Is that possible?
You know, except for the drug
HOLY FUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!
***** Life is a lie
except his identity wasn't wiped and they showed later what they did to him which wasn't turn him into a doll but keep him alive....which Coulson was the initial head agent for said project....
Also this is Marvel's Universe, not Joss's.
Honestly, this theory doesn't prove the worlds are connect, it proves Joss Whedon uses pretty much the same cliché over and over and is just too damn good at making them work without feeling like a cliché
I agree the same cliche is used time and time again. Let's tie in Dr. Horrible's Sing Along and then more Fillion plus Summer Glau and Jewel State and we have a Firefly reboot that we've been waiting for, for the better part of almost two decades. Then throw in some Bill Murray to mash up the mix and we could have a horribly fantastic crossover that could rule the ages. But seriously.
Joss whedon also directed a single episode of glee. "Dream on". It featured Neil Patrick Harris also. Ok I'm done.
what
I loved how when she said everything Joss Whedon writes is in the same universe the background crew freaked out. I love little stuff like that.
Omg I didn’t notice this!
From a theoretical point of view, the idea that some apocalypse occurred that drove humanity from Earth leading to the events of Firefly/Serenity make even more sense if we postulate this: River is actually a Slayer.
There is a lot of evidence to lead to this conclusion: her extraordinary grace and strength; her ability to learn almost any form of martial arts; even her telepathic abilities could be considered a form of magic.
Perhaps the reason we don't see any demons anymore is two-fold: first, "Earth that was" is a desolate, demon-ridden wasteland; second, for some reason demons really only seemed to be interested in Earth, NOT in our whole reality (a motivation continually reinforced in Buffy/Angel). Having taken their prize, we're left to our own devices, wandering the stars in search of a new Earth. In truth, the demons may have simply chosen a new way to prey on humans: Reavers.
Serenity explains that Reavers are the result of a drug trial gone horribly wrong. However, consider the sheer amount of punishment Reavers endure, let alone what they inflict. These "people" savage themselves beyond normal human endurance, without the help of medicine of any kind. They also run their ships with little-to-no radiation protection, creating what could be called a "hellish" environment. Perhaps the drug simply made those affect by it unusually prone to demonic possession, and the creatures known as Reavers are the result.
Regardless, interesting thought exercise.
Watching this video I was 100% sure it was going to build to "River is a Slayer."
As for the demons, it's possible they're simply unseen because of Firefly's limited scope. It's one ship that goes to like 10 relatively small places, most of which are very hostile to outsiders. Angel is based on the idea that supernatural elements are capable and willing to blend in to the background of major metropolitan areas. The alliance planets are just the new LA.
Steeve Octau Demons can actually live in outer space. There is one episode of buffy in the fifth season where ben summons a demon to kill all the crazy people that glory is making. The demon arrives via a meteorite impact.
There is actually a canon reason that demons may not exist in serenity. In the buffy universe as canon there was a time line created where there was no magic in the world at all. This is most likely a result of buffy destroying the seed of wonder in season 8 of buffy. That action protected this universe but also sealed it off from magic. In this future world slayers hadn't existed for a couple hundred years, but the magic was slowly starting to come back into the world and demons were returning, but it was slow.
TL'DR i like the idea of river as a slayer.
*****
Are you asking for an in universe explanation or real life? The real they look so much alike is that they were portrayed by the same actor.
Warning: Dark response incoming.
One possible reason is that Caleb was an evil, evil man. It takes work to get to that kind of evil; it doesn't just happen over night. One could assume he probably raped more than a few girls before he moved on to killing them, and so Mal is a genetic descendant from one of those girls many years in the future, except without the Psychopathy.
That is actually an interesting theory but that means it ties the Whedon-Verse, the Pixar-Verse and the Marvel-Verse together. Wow.
Disney has to have something to do with this....
no it doesnt
Disney bought FOX, so yeah, it does...
Wow, the OP is vindicated after half a decade, thanks to the corporate greed of an uncontrolled Disney. I wonder if Whedon realizes that his 'verse is unified like this?
Holy Shit! I just realized, what if River is a Slayer!
I like it, or possibly an attempt to recreate the slayers with science instead of magic. Maybe humans can only use magic around hellmouths which don't exist in their current solar system.
Additional theory...what if it was not actually used up...what if all the humans in the firefly universe only think that the world was used up because that's what their seed vessel clone parents were told by their ancestors. What if River is only one in a series of experiments to create a Slayer substitute to retake the homeworld and possibly magic itself if it really only exists in solar systems where the demons and powers that be are fighting. That would make the entirety of the core world's and many years of history just a staging area to eventually retake Sol. There could even be other systems similarly populated for the same reason some of which do have demons fighting humans and the blue guys in those systems might or might know about the firefly system and in some cases might even be working with the demons like the X-Files smoking man alien thing.
You are close. It's not specifically hellmouth's that allow humans to use magic but a special gem that is the world "seed" If you follow the comic continuation of Buffy in season 8 she breaks it and kills magic on earth.(though Willow eventually brings it back.)
Madder Max I did feel nerdier for writing it.
Justin Howard Huh? Well that sounds interesting. Does it say where the seed came from? How humans access it's power? Etc?
William Brown It's been a while since I read it so I am hazy on the details. No, it doesn't say were it came from but it's how new worlds are created. It's sort of a physical embodiment of the consciousness of the world. So when wiccans in buffyverse talk about gaia this is what they are talking about.(Though I doubt any of them new they were talking about an egg shaped crystal). Its power creates a sort of aura around the world that any being with magical aptitude can tap into it. Its destruction also did an interesting thing to newly created vamps. With no magic, no demon could cross over to inhabit the newly created vamp, so all you're left with is this undead thing hungry for blood with no one in the drivers seat.
I really hope the end of this video is a prelude to Agents of Cracked: Resurrection.
Also, he reused a joke. Kaylee makes fun of Simon for not swearing. Then he says "Son of a bitch." Everyone makes fun of Captain America for his aversion to swearing. He says "son of a bitch."
Whedon reused all of his "greatest hits" in the Avengers movies. That scene in the first movie where all the heroes are arguing with each other while the psycho-manipulator is smirking in his cell? Straight out of an "Angel" episode.
The workers in the background were cracking me up
I didn't notice that. Good catch!
What if all Joss Whedon shows actually take place inside the imagination of a young boy playing with his toys? That would explain why he keeps using the same actors; because the boy's playing with the same figures over and over again.
Guest Ending Writer: M. Night Shyamalan. What a beautiful moment
What a twist!
What the fuck is Michael eating?! A candy apple covered in ranch sauce?
dunnowy123 Someone PLEASE answer this man's question!!
I think it's an ice cream apple
I think it was country gravy.
+Sean Wilson I think it's heavy cream, thickened with powdered sugar. If it were ranch dressing, which he ordered, then we should be able to see little specs of pepper and spices used to give the cream in ranch dressing flavor. Instead, the topping has a solid white appearance; so I am betting: not ranch.
+czdaniel1 but, he did say put ranch on it.
Does it help that the Avengers program was originally called 'The Avengers Initiative'?
I wish these were uploaded more often. After Hours is the only reason I'm subbed to this channel.
Me too!
Yep its the same for me. I found one ep of it then watched every single one and started waiting for more.
Remember when Joss Whedon fired an actress because she got pregnant? Quality guy.
Meh... the Avenger's movie doesn't really fit their timeline very well.
How come~? :o
Cabin In The Woods came out before the Avengers, so technically the world din't end yet.
Now I guess one could sat that the ending of Cabin In The Woods could be the beginning of the apocalypse, which would mean that Loki and his army could be the angry Gods that Cabin was referring to, but in the Avengers and Thor, there was never any mention them invading Earth because they didn't get a sacrifice.
adorablecreature79 Or, if it's true, these stories didn't come out in chronological order. Firefly was before both Cabin in the Woods and Avengers but according to this theory, it happened after.
Just like the Pixar theory, the story is being told out of sync.
adorablecreature79
The timeline isn't set by release date. Just a large bit of them happened to coincide with release date.
Whitney S & NatethanialG
Okay, I guess that could make sense, unless there's specific current dates mentioned in the actual movies themselves. That could throw it off.
I always assumed Dollhouse and Firefly were in the same universe, but I never considered Angel and Buffy as part of that universe.
(This comment was editted, as the original prose made it seem that i didn't know Angel and Buffy were part of the same universe. Clearly i do.)
You mean... despite the fact that Angel was actually IN the Buffy series?
QuestionTime No i meant it didn't seem to fit to have Buffy/Angel-verse to be a part of the Firefly-Verse.
DeadpoolAndFriends Ah that makes much more sense, apologies.
DeadpoolAndFriends it kinda does... think alternate reality.... Buffy/angel failed to stop apocalypse leading for humanity to escape to space then boom we got Firefly
***** no magic in firefly... for me that's a problem, with the whole idea... i would have thought that people would mention it was elder gods awaking... it would pretty much change everyones ideas about reality...
watch it again, but this time watch the people in the background. totally different video.
I really liked this episode! However, the Marvel Universe began years before Joss Whedon was born. Ideas like S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers were already in place, it was merely asked of Whedon that he put his take on them. Also peeved that no one mentioned Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog. Could have easily been added in and fits the theme perfectly.
Guest Director: Joss Whedon
O.O
Guest Ending Writer: M. Night Shyamalan
NOOOOOOOOOO!
Going by this theory, the Dolls are like pre-Companions.
So, this would mean that River Tam from FF is effectively an artificially created Slayer?
Makes sense, as at the end of BTVS, all the powers of the Slayer got dispersed into all potential Slayers.
Over time, that would mean a reduction in power across the board, making Slayers either markedly less effective or extinct, necessitating the experiments/program(based on Dollhouse tech?) that is responsible for River's powers.
Except the future is fluid, and in lots of cases it isn't linear. So there could be infinite versions of the future.
I’ve seen this episode SO many times and THIS IS THE FIRST TIME that I noticed the server in the back look up and look shocked as soon as Katie said “all joss Whedon’s works are connected” or whatever 😂🤣😂! I love it!
There is a Weyland Yutani Easter egg on the AA gun in the pilot of firefly, which connects it to Alien:resurrection.
+BlaK HawK Weyland Yutani is mention in many works of sci-fi as an homage, including Star Trek, hardly that means Star Trek is in a share universe with the Alien franchise and Firefly
+Luppercus actually...
thetommywestphall.wordpress.com/the-master-list/
+Luppercus never question the shared universe. Just accept it.
+Nicholas Alexander () That thing is stupid. it assumes that all crossovers, cameos and homages is canon i.e. actually happened in all of the referenced series, even where they contradict each other. And isn't the whole idea that everything is imagined anyway? You know, it is possible to imagine that something that exist is different than it is in reality, and it is also possible to mix fiction that one has seen in ones imagination, with other fiction one has seen, as well as with one's own imagination.
RubberyCat Stupid, sure, but brilliant too (it was created as a riff on nerdly fans' die hard attitude to cannon).
Never noticed before, but it's impressive that their segments are filmed one half of the table at a time. You can see their glasses of water are in different positions when Michael and Katie are talking, as opposed to when Dan and Soren are in the shot.
Can't help but notice the glasses sitting in the middle when shot from one side of the table then divided out looking at Katy's side.
If you guys saw The 6 Most Unintentionally Creepy Sitcom Characters, you may remember Cody was following them in that episode. Coincidence? I THINK SO.
The background characters...they make this episode perfection.

THEY KNOW! XD
But Agents of SHIELD is just what happens in Marvel comics, which Joss Whedon has no part in. He didn't think up SHIELD, he's just going with it. Near apocalypses, monsters, aliens etc have been fucking shit up in the Marvel universe long before Joss Whedon started doing any of that. Not to mention independently. I think the argument would have been stronger if you only went with Joss Whedon's original works.
I mean, the first Blade comic came out in 1973, Marvel had a vampire slayer 20 years before Joss did. Also, he was 9.
Yea but Joss choose to make those movies. Maybe because he knew they would fit perfectly into his masterful scheme :O Dondondondoooon
Olodus How do you know he wasn't inspired by Marvel?
Wheadon also did a scene in the first X-Men movie! River could be like Jean Grey.
Wait If Josh Whedon guess directed this than that means that he is okay with this interpretation and probably helped the Crack staff refine it and fix any errors they made so that means *it's true*

Wait wait! I don't remember in Firefly saying the world was destroyed by unknown forces! I thought it was because the Earth Government had problem with other planet colonies and started an insurrection, just like in Halo before the Human-Covenant war?
Bungie even hints that the UNSC and this blue gloves from Firefly were kind of like ONI doing stuff like the Spartan program. Also almost all the Firefly cast do the voice acting in the Halo trilogy and give hints about the Firefly events before the Human-Covenant war?
Mind= blown
Here's how it is: The Earth got used up, so we moved out, and terraformed a whole new galaxy of Earths, some rich and flush with new technologies, some not so much. The Central Planets, them as formed the Alliance, waged war to bring everyone under their rule; a few idiots tried to fight it, among them myself. I'm Malcolm Reynolds, captain of Serenity. She's a transport ship, Firefly class. Got a good crew: fighters, pilot, mechanic. We even picked up a preacher for some reason, and a bona fide companion. There's a doctor, too, took his genius sister from some Alliance camp, so they're keeping a low profile, you understand. You got a job, we can do it, don't much care what it is.
:O
Whedon already says his works are continuitus and Buffy is in the same universe as Firefly. He even claims stuff as his when his involvement could only be called minor. He was nothing more than a script doctor for that alien movie, yet he put a Waylen-Yutani logo on a building in Angel and made the 'Buffy vs Aliens' comic. This video is trying to conspiracy- explain something about him that he openly says to be true.
DazeDream That's what I said immediately when I saw the title. I was like, "What's the secret? This has been known for years and years, he's even talked about it." It's like Stephen King, it's not like he's trying to hide it or anything.
Also, they missed one of the biggest pieces of the Whedonverse theory: that River is a slayer
Then wouldn't that mean that Reavers are vampires?
I like this theory
Or maybe like an experiment by blue sun to make slayers of they're own an that's why she's always tweaked out
@@lastnamefirstname5265 I think it's kind of both. Blue Sun learned about slayers and found River, a potential layer, but after so many years they had no idea how to activate her. So they just poked her brain until something snapped.
@@jossc8280 a very initiative thing to do lol
Excuse me, Joss Whedon wrote Toy Story?! My childhood just got better even better.
Thank god, more After Hours.
wait...if Joss Whedon guest directed this episode, then how would it fit in with the rest of the whedonverse?
this episode would fit some where at the end of avengers . around the same time that the avengers were having swharma .
But it'd be a massive breaking of the fourth wall, since Joss can't write scripts of things that're supposed to be actually happening...
Benjamin Stern Unless his scripts are actually prophecies he is writing!!!
Well, this happend YEARS later..
So many years later that people forgot that this so called "universe" was real life.
People found files, these files were so cool that they made it into shows.
Joss Whedon directed these movies that were based upon these files..
But secretly Joss Whedon is a part of this circle...
Maybe illuminati?
I can't even concentrate. What is that guy eating? An Apple coated in Gravy? White Chocolate? A spherical pile of mashed potatoes with a cinnamon stick in it? This is bothering me.
A candy apple with white chocolate, which just looks absolutely delicious.
It's an apple with ranch dressing. He ordered one "unusual" at the beginning, with extra ranch. Decidedly not delicious.
apple covered in ranch
The whole multiverse thing is easy to understand as one does not want to destroy their own creations even fictionally.
... IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW.
Speaking as a person from 2020 I appreciate that the agents are all wearing gloves and masks, but sad that that one agent just tosses her gloves on the floor as she leaves.
Terrifying thought - Agents of Shield only follows one unit. Shield is a big organization. Crazy shit must be happening everywhere, all the time.
yeah there is. so good thing the Avengers are there to stop it
Garth Palmer But what if S.H.I.E.L.D. is actually creating all that mayhem that they then send the Avengers to fight? Think about it. What better way to keep a bunch of super powerful people out of your way than to give them other super powerful people to fight? Meanwhile, you go about your quiet little way of taking over the planet.
Yeah. SHIELD can totally pay off Thanos.
Allen Birkholz yeah because SHIELD convinced Loki to bring an alien army to earth to take over right? or did the same with all Iron Man's villains, or is even convincing Thanos, right?
Garth Palmer Does S.H.I.E.L.D actually have to convince Loki to do anything? Or do they just need to see that there is a potential opportunity and nudge things along. Quietly "arrange" for the one powerful artifact Loki is looking for to fall into his hands. Then, while Loki is attacking Earth and the Avengers are all busy fighting him off, they are free to do a little something to help themselves somewhere else. Something that might attract the unwanted attention of some super "hero" if they weren't all busy fighting this obvious threat placed right in front of them.
Finally there are people talking about Buffy and Angel in this decade. Takes me back!
Wait... so Wolfram and Hart is headed by Bad Horse?
I'm behind this if we have Wolfram and Hart headed by Bad Horse... as well as the guys in Cabin in the Woods... also headed by Bad Horse.
It would certainly explain the musical episode of Buffy.
The only problem I find in all the shows being linked, is there is an episode of Buffy which /heavily/ implies that the entire series is made up in Buffy's head while she sits in a mental hospital back in California. The episode ends with Buffy beating the delusion needle handed demon and stabilizing her mind and everything like normal, but then before the credits it shows her in the hospital, with her Mother and Father talking to the doctor, with the doctor saying that Buffy is basically gone forever, that her conscious mind is no longer accepting the real world and has retreated back into her fantasy world possibly forever. And then the credits roll. Which to me says "This is the reality." And it's late in the series, like, one of the last two seasons I think. Which means everything in Angel is also made up in her mind, and they other shows can't connect to it because once Buffy dies of old age or her brain shutting down for good, there is no more fantasy.
Ooooh. This video did not age well.
That after credits scene. Also Guest ending writer: M.Night Shyamalan XD
The apocalypse in Dollhouse is the same one pre-Firefly. The resources were destroyed by the butchers. So they left.
“... Just spinning our wheels until we inevitably drifted apart.”
Wow the small beans channel just became very sad.
"I just assumed we were spinning our wheels until we eventually drifted apart." Oof man this hurts to read, considering everything that happened.
The fact that DoB and Soren have a podcast together takes some of the sting away
All I took from this episode is that Joss Whedon is more formulaic than I thought. :/
Hey, if the formula is badass I'm not going to complain ;-)
Without form or structure in your story all you have is rambling, incoherent, word salad. A formula, or formulas to fall back on help move a story forward to completion. Good grief
Ben Hudson In other words, Tropes Are Tools, and Tropes Are Not Bad.
You hit the nail on the head.
More "After Hours" please and thank you. Hands down, my favorite Cracked production.
What's that you say, Buffy and Angel take place in the same universe? Madness!
Also, Firefly and Serenity taking place in the same universe... psssh yeah right.
Your sarcasm is misplaced. The point is that the Buffy, Firefly, and CITW universes are all the same.
Project Except they spent more time (see: none) explaining hoow buffy and angel were in the same universe than they did buffy and firefly.Really it was "both shows have cliche secret organizations that are nothing at all alike in purpose or methodology"
+MasterFhyl okay, now I see I missed your original point. But, they made more of a reach than use any proof.
MasterFhyl I think angel is just a common name like John Smith or angel the vampire who is Buffy's ex boyfriend both both very common mistakes. but to be serious though I swear the original angel episode ended with Buffy staking him? didn't it? I mean it's been years
"I thought we were just spinning our wheels until we inevitably drift apart."
That hits different 7 years later.
Does that mean Captain Hammer is Mels Ancestor?
+EpochDeus Given the physical similarities I think he is. I mean Captain Hammer was a superhero. If they need to repopulate humans on another planet wouldn't superheroes be on the top of the breeder list.
+EpochDeus And don't forget that Violet from Buffy must have left her dangerous slayer life behind and started a normal life in Los Angeles only to accidentally die in a showdown between her two love interests
+Naila Zahin Also, the Hammer is his penis. Best line of that movie
+Trynackle agreed
you forgot that nathan fillian is also caleb the insane preature in buffy. 2 ancestors, 1 hero, 1 villain. creating the perfect mix for a certain space pirate.
This episode makes me so happy.
I love the woman in the background, lol.
ALRIGHT SUGARTITS!!!
In the pilot episode of Firefly an anti-air turret's display shows the logo for Weyland-Yutani, which is the omnipresent super-corporation in the Alien franchise.
Seeing as Joss was involved with Alien: Ressurection, that would mean that the Alien universe should be included in this.
I always thought buffy was a implanted memory in dollhouse for a sexy vampire slayer
I didn't realize how much I needed this theory in my life.
Did no one notice the background? These details are SO amazing
1:14..... Soren you evil bastard... now i miss this group more than ever.
i'm surprised they never mentioned that river is basically a slayer
You had everything going until you tried to connect Joss's world to Marvel's. Stan the Man decides what is and isn't...>_> Don't make that mistake again. You even know you made a mistake because when you mentioned Avengers and Agents of Shield (which aren't stand apart projects from the rest that Joss had nothing to do with) you don't even flesh that out.
Angry Marvel fan boy alert!!
A long time ago i tried writing fanfic I called "Remnants" where I was gonna connect Buffy & Firefly together using a very old Spike and The Earth That Was. Never finished it. Cuz it was stupid. This video puts everything together better, but I was on this wavelength. One too many apocalypses led to Earth That Was being uninhabitable.
What is the plural of apocalypse? Apocalyspses? Apocyli? Maybe it's just apocalypse for both like moose or sheep.
i love how the two in the back stopped working when she got to her point and started to listen
Um, In the pilot of Firefly, they said we left Earth because of over population. Earth couldnt support our numbers.
they did over populate the earth but they also used up all of its natural resources like iron and other metals
Yep was going to say something I'll add that these people are idiots
Cant we have some fun without being idiots right away?
A teacher in an Alliance academy said that. It's possible that this was a lie. Governments do that, from time to time.
Drew Little it was definitely a lie that the government spread to save their asses. According to Serenity, the movie continuation of Firefly, they discover that the reason we left earth is because the government was using a drug to make all of human population easier to control, but a small percentage of humanity had an adverse reaction to the drug and were turned into Reavers.
I think this is the first time I've ever noticed the background shenanigans in a video before I was actually told about it! I'm fairly proud of myself.
I'm surprised they didn't mention Joss Whedon's disturbing obsession with stabbing people.
Well in his defense, stabbing people in movies/TV shows is AWESOME.
As the Joker put it "Guns are too quick. You can't saver all the little emotions. In their last moments people show you who they really are. So in a way I knew your friends better than you ever did. Would you like to know which of them were cowards?"
Brad Couce Well, not directly, but remember the Tarentino-verse episode of After Hours? The way to claim power in Tarentino movies was to eat someone else's food, by physically claiming something that's personal to them, that earns you power. In Whedon-verse, the claiming of someone's blood is what earns you power, by taking it up close and personal with something sharp. Angel and Buffy's fights are obvious examples. The Cabin in the Woods has Dana stab the tech guy, representing her taking power over the Cabin, and the Werewolf stabs the Director with its teeth and claws, representing the monsters taking power over the control. In Avengers, Loki stabs Colson to represent taking back his power. That Whedon-verse consistently parallels the taking of power with stabbing, tying all these movies and tv shows together into one "law of the universe" package. It's definitely not a strong theory, but it could work.
Casey Alcoser In Dr Horrible, maybe Penny getting stabbed represents the Doctor finally being free from the power his emotions had over him.
Casey Alcoser By that logic 'the one who stabs' is the one that has the most power. which makes sense in the buffy-verse and i suppose in the cabin in the woods aswell but in avengers the people who have the most power don't stab at all. I mean Hulk...well smashes and thor who is a literal god has a big old hammer so maybe there isnt a fluidity in that theory
al might Don't forget Iron Man and Captain America
Connections between Joss Whedon projects...
Me in 2021... That will not end the way you think it will...
The Blue Sun / Watchers Council / Initiative connection is further supported by the connection to how slayers came to be. In Buffy we learn the origins of Slayers and Council amount to an ancient council of men selecting the best female from the tribe and performing a horrifying magic experiment type ritual to infuse her with demonic power to make her strong enough to fight back.
With the ending of the world and the retreat to space and new worlds my argument is that the Blue Sun corp's ultimate goal wasn't just making assuming but trying to somehow duplicate that ritual. They were trying to make River into a Slayer.
Cracked was so stupid to let these talented people go
Joss = Joss. Why the FUCK would connections between his work be considered mind-blowing - the SAME FUCKING PERSON created these things!!!! FUCK!
I'm glad I'm not alone here.
Me, too!
I only just now noticed Cody Johnston in the background
Which means that Cody’s Showdy is just mind control from the Initiative. 😮
Angel and Buffy are givens. Sort of a duh that they are connected. I give you guys those, but throwing Agents of Shield on there was like stabbing yourself in the hand.
meh.... it sound farfetch at first but if you look at it one way, SHIELD does sound like the Initiative.....kinda
Can't help being distracted by the fact that the drinking glasses are not consistent with different perspectives.
whether or not this is legit, Avengers and Agents of Shield have nothing to do with it, those are in the Marvel universe which has nothing to do with Buffy or Firefly
Maybe, maybe not. Honestly it wouldn't surprise me. After all it isn't like vampires and alternate futures have never been a part of Marvel.
Arkham Creed yeah but not Buffy. Marvel would have to ok it first
Yes, but Whedon has written for Marvel in the past. So, it would be easy to morph his chronology into a marvel storyline. The plot roots are subtle, so he may have even contrived the idea for the secret organizations in Firefly or Buffy from Marvel's S.H.I.E.L.D. Hence, making the coincidences seem unrelated.
***** Buffy was a movie first.
***** Buffy was a movie then a series which spawn a few books and stuff before spawning a Spin- off then a comic
You guys are awesome. I can't get enough of these After Hours videos. Please do one about the 1983 Molly Ringwald sci-fi movie, 'Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone'. I wore out my VHS copy back in the 80's & it's so bad that it's good. Please & thank you!...& keep up the good work!
I really wanna know where Dr horrible is in this
Somewhere before Avengers. Possibly before Buffy.
Does Titan A.E. work in that logic as well? Is that just thousands of years passed the Serenity timeline as well?
I think you could reason that in there somewhere. Enough time and you can reset any storyline in space haha
Battlestar Galactica esque
The Weyland-Yutani logo from the Alien series is in the pilot episode of Firefly.
Which scene?
Z Dean Very first. The Battle of Serenity Valley flashback when Mal jumps onto the AA gun about 3 minutes in. The logo appears in the gun's HUD.
DMStraylight OH MY GOD
Z Dean Weyland-Yutani was also one of the companies represented by Wolfram & Hart in Angel (5x09, "Harm's Way"). #tinfoilhat
DMStraylight My mind is blowned
Would it stand to reason the River is actually The blue sun's/ former watcher's attempt to remake the slayer line? Or possibly her being a the holder of the dormant Slayer gene and so they still experiment the hell out of her.
two by two, hands of blue....
