If it is a Henry, it is worth buying. The correct number of Henry rifles to own is one more
Love it 😂
@@BlackBearOutdoors 😊 thank you
I love my Henry 410 lever gun !
I have a henry 3030. Not the exact henry that I want or looking for. But it is a henry and still looking for the exact henry that I want. But also, I am looking for a 357/38 and a 45-70.
@@stolnpckup I got an all weather 45-70. The old model though without side gate. Such a sweet rifle. The wood stock is immaculate
i've needed to use henry 2x for minor warranty issues- I own 3 henry levers in brass (.22, 45 & 45-70)
both times all i needed to do was call with my serial # and within a week I not only received my parts at no expense to me, but the parts cam in a box full of henry gear (coffee mug, henry hat & stickers) AMAZING customer service and an equally impressive high quality product! i'll always be a henry customer!
2x ? what for
Which of your Henrys would you trust against a black bear? The .45 or the .45-70? (Or, both?)
And, as "working rifles" (I mean, working "in the field"), does the softer metal (brass) receiver resist getting scratched up?
>> Does it hold up well?
We owe the Henry company a tremendous debt of gratitude for keeping the lever action concept alive when Marlin & Winchester were floundering.
I received one of the original Henry Big Boys as a gift, in my first box of factory ammo there was a squib load that jammed in the barrel. You couldn’t tell because I was on an indoor range with 20 other people firing all types of rifles. I fired a second round that struck the the squib load and luckily for me the barrel didn’t explode, but it only caused a slight swell about 8” from the muzzle. You could barely feel the bulge with your fingers, the ammo manufacturer was great and agreed to pay for a new barrel. I was very lucky that a range officer was attracted to the rifle and had witnessed the entire incident!
I contacted Henry and they were even better, I sent them the rifle and they couldn’t have been nicer. They replaced the barrel and had it back to me in less than a week. It shot even better than the original barrel. The original was grouping about 1.5” at 25 yds the new barrel was capable of less than 1”. I have to thank Henry for their superior construction, I could have easily been seriously injured. The gun is a favorite, I just wish .38 spec. and .357 hadn’t gone so high in price and availability with the shortage, so I could shoot it more often!
They should have given you a new rifle. When barrels are replaced something else always goes wrong.
@@Mcseverythingoutdoors I respectfully disagree.
Good to know.
Atleast it’s 38/357 meanwhile I’m crying about 30-30 at nearly $1.50 per round to use my Winchester model 94… Now I’m here to check out Henry to considering to buy one in .38/357 as they can be found under 50 cent per round.. might get one with loading gate
@@SlavicCinnamonRollie556 $1.20-$1.50 a round now for .357!
2018 of August is when we bought ours, Henry All Weather 357mag/.38 spl
One beauty of a lever action rifle. We live in west state Colorado. Perfect place to use our Henry for game or play. Shoots accurate and smooth cycling along with not having to worry about wiping it down from being outside or in foul weather. It's made for those that go into brush and higher mtns where the elements come into effect. We did our research to find the right lever action, theyres many to choose from. We are proud family to be part of the Henry family! Get lots of compliments at the range, not too many have seen the All Weather in action or in person. Got a nice leather sling from Buffalo leather in SLC, Utah. They made me a custom design of the medicine wheel on it, indicating I am Native American of the Navajo nation. I even have hawk feathers hanging as the warriors did back in the 1800s. It's cherry! But glad to see that Henry listened to those wanting side gate loading. I'm alright without, we love ours they way it is. You have one beauty yourself! Try the new federal premium Hammer down 357mag in 170gr. There's videos on RUclips for researchers. I was told to stay with a caliber safe to cycle and a good company that makes the ammo specifically for lever action rifles. Cheers mate! M
We used some of the hammer down in our accuracy video. Check it out. Thanks for supporting our channel!
Back in April, I was in the market for my dream gun...a lever action cowboy gun.
I didn't care if it was a Marlin, Henry or Rossi, just as long as it wasn't a .22.
When I got to the counter, the Henry Big Boy brass stood out like a sore thumb, I mean this thing looked gorgeous.
That narrowed it down to "I want a Henry Big Boy".
I had four choices, .357, .44 magnum, 45 Colt.
I went with the 45 colt, it was the most versatile of the three.
There are all sorts of rounds available for it, everything from cowboy loads to the insane Buffalo Bore 45 Colt +P.
Put in 10 rounds of Buffalo Bore Deer Grenades and you have a gun more powerful than a 44 magnum, and yes it's even more powerful than a 30-30 out to 100 yards.
Keep in mind, that ammo does not feel so great firing, it kicks hard and no recoil pad doesn't help either.
That Deer Grenade has a almost 2000 fps muzzle speed and delivers almost 2100 ft/lbs of energy, quite insane for a pistol round.
You can also use cowboy loads on the range and shoot it all day long and it's fun.
Is it worth buying in 2021? Absolutely, it's legal in all 50 US states and here in Germany.
Greetings from across the pond!
Great choice! We love our Henry and its insanely fun to shoot. Thanks for supporting our channel!
Greetings back!
I’m getting the 45 colt - hell.gotdang.yea
@@danholtbk7008 Let me tell you, when I go to the club(Gun Range) and pull this thing out of the case, everyone notices it right away, it never fails to draw attention.
45 colt definitely isn’t the most versatile of those loads lol
I have the Henry Big Boy Brass Carbine in .357 / .38 Special with the big hand loop and shorter 16.5" barrel. I like the Octagonal barrel on mine as well ... deadly accurate with just iron sights due to the barrel weight absorbing the recoil. A real joy to shoot.
They are awesome rifles, I agree 100%
SO can you use both .357 and .38 special ammo on this ammo
@@FreshKicks4545 Anything chambered for 357 can shoot 38 special but not vice versa. If chambered for 38 you cannot chamber a 357 as the case length is diffent and the chamber will not allow it.
My Uberti Cattleman II revolver is a 357 that can shoot 357/38 special/ 38 short colt / and 38 long colt.
I went with a buddy to get ammo at the gun store a couple weeks ago and walked out with a Henry 357/38 and the ammo to support it. That’s a good Arizona day.
The best day! Thanks for supporting our channel! :)
Their customer service is awesome too. I bought a second hand rifle in a private sale with a few bits missing. I contacted Henry RA to ask about the cost of shipping parts to the UK and they immediately offered to send them to me completely gratis. Beyond and above the call. I have three examples now.
I have had the same Henry for about 6yrs, but chambered in 45-70gov. Mine shoots great! I love the semi-bickhorn sights. In fact I put a Nikon 3 power scope on it, but immediately took it off after 1 season of hunting Whitetail deer! I found I was more accurate, and much, much, faster with the semi-bickhorn especially when tracking my target in case I need a fallow up shot.
I bought one earlier this year. Accurate and fun to shoot! Very satisfied!
Great vlog. Thanks for posting and sharing with us. The only thing I would add is I’d like someone to post a vlog with just different 38 special loads. My revolvers are 38 special too, because of my and my wife’s age, arthritis, etc., causes us to use lesser HOT loads, that’s mainly my desire for a 38 special vlog.
Ever since I was a kids I remember watching a Dawn of the Dead and Night of the Living Dead and I instantly fell in love with a Lever action.
I am getting the Henry All Whether side gate .357 Magnum/ .38 Special in a couple of months
Me gusto mucho la introducción en blanco y negro, gracias, thanks a Lot for de vídeo in black and white👏👏👍
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for supporting our channel!
love the brass henry big boy hope to get one some day. nice video liked that there was not a lot of unnecessary chit chat
I just ordered one of these today. I've already got a lever action in 30-30 but have been wanting one in this caliber for a while now and am finally getting one!
I am sure you are going to have a lot of fun with it
Thank you so much for your review.this video was actually the final decision maker in what I’ll be purchasing-very helpful-
Glad you found it useful. We are very happy with ours and certainly feel it was worth the money we spent on it. Thanks for supporting our channel!
I have always had a love of lever action rifles, and this may be the one for me to finally scratch that itch.
Seriously love ours :)
I have the Henry Big Boy in .357/.38 Special without the side gate. It has performed flawlessly for years. I can vouch for the comments in this video. Shooting .38 Special is like shooting a .22 - no recoil at all. There is a slight recoil when using .357, but much less than an AR in .556. I can't recommend the Henry enough - it's simply a great firearm.
Totally agree! Thanks for supporting our channel!
I'm not trying to be mean or "picky", but a .556 would be a 55-caliber weapon.
>>> what you meant was 5.56mm cartridge
@@ahashdahnagila6884 You are correct. 5.56 NATO
I have a Henry Big Boy Carabine in .357 Mag and .44 Mag. They are awesome rifles. I will never give mine up.
Don’t blame you, they are awesome rifles!
i own one i love it accrete right out of the box its recoil doesn't hurt my arm beautiful gun that matches my .357 hand gun
i just won one of these bad boys off a $10 raffle ticket, I knew henry was a pricey company but I didn't know how in depth they went into user experience. Excited for this kickass rifle!
My friend picks up his Henry in 357 mag. Today! He also has the 44 mag. I have the Henry 22 cal Mare's Leg. Bought it in 2010 in Cali. Before they were banned! Been in the Safe all this time never fired it!
I'll be getting my first Henry 357/38 spl tomorrow in a private sale. Can't wait to get it! I already have test loads made up for it.
I own one of these. It is amazing and you really get no recoil. One thing I would like to add is that is extremely accurate
We are planning an accuracy video with it soon. Thanks for supporting our channel!
It's very accurate. I have the 357 big boy and it shoots on a line
Good to know...Im looking at purchasing one of these..cheers
I’ve had mine 2 years!
I've recently got into lever actions...I've bought the Henry 44 big boy and the 357/38 over the past couple of years ...I can't believe I've missed out on all this fun in years past. I'm in love.....
There is just something about them. Love our levers also!
If you don't mind me asking, what are some pros and cons of each Henry? I'm looking to get one.
@Simon_Augustine well I'm a bit of a western fanatic so I like the lever actions. The henry is very smooth accurate and just nice to look at. I've also killed some whitetail dear with the 44m .
I've had the carbine version in .44mag for a few years now. I find I don't really miss the side loading gate that normally comes with other lever actions and the newer Henrys. The only thing I don't like about it is the slow rifling twist which is like 1/36 or 1/37 or so if I recall. I'm told this was to cater to the cowboy action shooters who shoot a lot of slow, soft lead loads through these guns. Whatever case, it makes it very hard to get any accuracy with the heavier, 300gr hard cast bullets I like. Regular 240gr bullets are fine. From what I understand, the newer Henrys now have faster twists to rectify this limitation, but since I don't own one, I can't confirm.
Absolutely worth it. If I had the scratch I would have a side gate version. The beauty of the Henry side gate is that you can speed load as you did and still top up through the gate when appropriate.
Agreed 100%
Also wondering why Henry still doesn't make a SASS legal side gate main match rifle. Seems like a painfully obvious market.
Just purchased a 22wmr with the octagon barrel which I happened upon at my local dealer. Looking forward to shooting it.
I like the Henry 357 cowboy action! Wish I could afford it!
I bought a Henry 357 magnum in 2020. It has the octagonal barrel and it has the case colored receiver. It’s not the side gate, but it’s a very beautiful lever action rifle. I’m going to buy more Henry rifles in the future, including a Henry with the side gate. The wood to metal fit is impeccable. I’m very happy that I bought this rifle, and look forward to buying more Henry rifles. Made in America or not made at all. I love that slogan.
I agree they are beautifully made rifles. Thanks for supporting our channel

love my Henry Steel 38/357 talk about fun and easy to shoot. Great fun!!
They are awesome
Just got this rifle and glad to hear your good report,
Your video is very nicely done. They are indeed great rifles or in my case I have the .357/.38 Brass Big Boy Carbine with large loop lever....it gives up a couple of rounds in capacity however is very useful for home defense due to shorter length and even have added a Picatinny rail, with red dot, riser, and 3x magnifier. Even did some videos equipped that way. They are best though in their original state as a classic and as you said the weight greatly mitigates the recoil. I have a Spee-D-Loader like the tube you used for my Henry Golden Boy .22 LR. Is that tube loader something you made or is that something you purchased. Thank you Black Bear Outdoors for carrying on the Lever Action tradition.
Thanks very much for your kind words and for supporting our channel! The tube loader is one I made with 1/2 inch postal tube and some rubber caps. The .357 fits perfectly in those.
I don't say it often but,
What a great video, on a great gun.
I'll be getting mine soon.
Oh, I won't need a side gate.
Thank you very much and thanks for supporting our channel! I prefer the speed loader option too on the Henry :)
Great review thanks for making it looking forward to more of your reviews on it
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks fir supporting our channel. Much more to come :)
@@BlackBearOutdoors I did thank you again
I have the same gun (tube loader). Bought 7 years ago. I put a Skinner aperture sight on mine. Absolutely love it. Great review. What's your accent by the way?
I have one with over 3000 rounds through it, not one regret with it. Only change I did was add the Skinner peep sight.
That is awesome. They are great rifles! Thanks for supporting our channel!
Great information, Thank You!
Haha awesome video as always guys. I love my henry. Keep' em coming!
Thanks very much glad you enjoyed it :)
Hey I really enjoyed your video. I've been thinking I would wait and get one with a side gate. But you just showed me another option.
I actually really like the "speed loader" idea. Easy to make too and cheap :) Thanks for supporting our channel!
Nice job thanks, you almost got me convinced to buy one!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for supporting our channel!
I've had the .44mag version of this on order for a year. I hope it comes soon . . .
Good day folks, I own a Henry bigboy in 44 mag, had it for awhile, shoots great, I had to put skinner sights on tho cuz I couldn't hit nuttin with those buckhorn factory sights, I put a few nicks n scratches on it, but that don't effect the performance, just a beautiful rifle, shoot str8t, stay safe , shakyjake out.
Excellent production quality on this video! Subscribed!
Thanks very much. We truly appreciate the support!
Well done! Thank you.
I'm not normally a guy who wants to shoot pistol ammo through a rifle but damn!, that is a beautiful gun and I do own 2 .357 revolvers so...... Great video, BTW.
Thanks very much. glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for supporting our channel!
Of course it's worth buying if it is what you want. Henry rifles are really good but not overly expensive.
I have the same rifle, the first I got with buckhorn sights and quickly realised they weren't for me. I got a Skinner peep sight and that helped me a whole lot. I thought I might try optic if that didn't work but it did so I now have my ideal combination. It is my favourite gun, my others ar nice but this one has my heart.
I love ours too! Thanks for supporting our channel!
@@BlackBearOutdoors You are welcome, and thanks for the video.
I have had a cold and cough this weekend so not been out shooting. It is only mild though and I have a plan to be out with a couple of others next weekend and my Henry will be with us. It shoots so well and is a real head turner too, everyone likes to admire and ask about it.
Thanks.,.
Great video..very informative…
First, I think Henry's are good. But, the 2nd I boight the 357 silver had big feeding issues. I sent it back. It came back and the action didnt function. I had to fix it myself. The trigger is really great. Its a nice looking rifle. The quality of the lock works needs improvement.
Great looking rifle !!! Nice review, thanks for sharing.
They are great fun to shoot also. Thanks for supporting our channel!
My brother brought one and I had the opportunity to try it.
I was taking apart targets at an open air range better than I could with a 22.
I was impressed by the way it handled!
Love ours too. Great rifle!
Very nice video, thanks. I got one jet like it but need to know how to clean it after going to the range.
We have a cleaning video for lever actions also. That may be helpful to you.

Thank you for this video. I just ordered this same model 🤠
I bet you will love it
Absolutely love mine!
Seems like an incredible rifle. Trying to decide between one of these, and a Mini-14. Leaning towards one of these since I already have a .223 rifle. 38 special is about the price of 223 so it seems like a pretty good deal.
Personally I love it. Takes a little practice with the lever (shorter stroke than the 30-30) but it is great fun to shoot.
Lever action all day brother!
Wow love it and love to see more pictures of you ❤️ 😊
Very nice and quite accurate with an optic on it .
I currently own 3 Henry rifles my first was this very model brass big boy .357 cal..I intend to buy one different Henry every year till I have all models..great qaulity and both useful and collectible...my only regret is if I had waited a year coulda got the combo tube and side gate version...but atleast I can get the other models with side gate..my next will probably be the stainless all weather...or tactical x

henry is an amazing company, i have dealt with them some. great customer service, everything, even knick knack giveaways stuff is made in America. when i buy a henry i buy it worry free.
They sponsor a Nascar race coming up soon.
If I had one of those i would have it modified to work like the one in the TV show the Rifle Man .
Owned one these rifles for 2 years now. Same caliber. It’s so accurate I feel like I’m cheating when I take it to the range. If your looking for a lever gun, you can’t go wrong with this one. Really want to do a mares leg in the same caliber and pay the $200 tax stamp to put the full stock on it.
Would love to have a lever gun in .357 but they are hard to find or priced out of range at this time.
Was tricky finding this p[articular one also. Was a gift for Mrs. Bear :)
I just bought a henry in 357 /38 special with a loading gate.. it's a little over 1k in California
I have the Skinner sights on my Marlin 1894c. It helps out a lot with my old eyes.

@@SilverLife-oi4ng Love the skinner sights myself
Today i bought one. Very nice gun!
Keep up the great videos!
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed it!
It sometimes hangs up on 38 specials, but flawless with 357 mag!
very informative.
Have the same rifle. If I could add only two features it'd be a side gate and a saddle ring. I've added a ranger point precision cloverleaf sight and a hi Viz front sight and I have to say she's surgically accurate. Is she worth it? Yes. In 2021? Absolutely.
In my experience with Henry I say yes. Lifetime warranty don't get better than that
Agreed 100% They are awesome rifles. Thanks for supporting our channel!
Smoothest lever action in the business… period! Wish I had one!
Miroku Wincher 1873 is smoother. Oh, Miroku not a real Winchester? Neither is Henry a real Henry. Henry sold the license to Win. Miroku holds the license to manufacture Winchesters.
Which model did u prefere the side load gate or the older model, front load ?
I ordered the 357/38 a week ago. I was wondering if the rifle comes from factory ready to mount a sling or something I or a gun shop will need to drill and tap.
A beautiful gun which seems very reliable.
Great video 👍🏼
Very good review, where do you get that quick loading tube and was it faster than the side gate
I made them with 1/2 inch postal tubes 😁. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for supporting our channel!
I love my Henry Big Boy Silver in 44 mag!
Would love to get the 44 mag also! Thanks for supporting our channel!
My son has one, the first 10 rounds shot just fine. Then it jammed up on the next set. Handle is stuck half way open and will not open or close.
I have a big boy all weather, drops everything like a rock
Would love to get an all weather version. Thanks for supporting our channel!
I see these at walmart but i want a shorter barrel and side gate loading.
I own the 44magnum model. I am looking to buy a 357magnum. I prefer the tube feed for short bullets and loading gate for longer rifle rounds.
That makes a lot of sense. Would love to get a .44 also
I've spent a little time with a Henry Big Boy in 45-70 and a decent amount of time with a Golden Boy in 22lr. I found the Henry sights hard to use at first, the brass bead felt a bit claustrophobic in the rear sight. They're great once I got used to them.
Agreed. Trigger time on it solves most things and they are great fun and useful rifles. Thanks for supporting our channel!
I bought a .44 Henry rifle in 2021. The kick on this thing is so minor and the sights were spot on right from the factory. I would have preferred a loading gate VS tube fed but that's okay. If I can't stop what I am blasting at in 10 rounds, I don't deserve the chance to reload.
I love Henry long range rifle, 22,250 or 308 win
I love 357 Henry as well. Henry make the best lever actions rifles ,
They are great rifles I agree. Thanks for supporting our channel
I have one of these a couple years older and it has never worked right. I have had it back to them twice for feeding issues on the last round or two getting stuck regardless or the ammo used. It has just sat in my house for several years and I should do something with it. I have a Henry lever in 22 mag that has always worked flawlessly but the 357 has kept me from buying another lever from Henry. Waiting for Marlin to pick up the buckhammer.
That sucks to hear. I would keep sending back to customer service until they fix or replace it. They are really fun :)
Why did they make side loaders in brass recivers except for the 357
my bigboy doesnt seem to eject .38 shells well. .357 is fine but i have to grab the .38 shells out of the receiver as they didnt quite jump out all the way
Just purchased this rifle, enjoyed the video. This was the 2nd video on the gun I watched and both seemed unfamiliar with the Buckhorn sight. Seems like the only sight I knew growing up especially on pellet rifles. Just wondering why the difficulty with them. Personally I love them.
Glad you enjoyed the video and I am sure you are going to love that rifle! I also grew up with pellet guns with buckhorns. That was long ago though and I guess I have gotten spoiled with the red dots and other optics around. Oddly I would not put an optic on this rifle just because it feels like it should have the irons. Bit of nostalgia maybe. Many people love them with scopes etc.
It is a fact Henry will back up what they manufacture to the extent of paying the shipping for you to send in a rifle, they will either repair it or replace it with a new one of the same. The Henry warranty is outstanding beyond belief.
Good to know!
FACT MY ASS. I sent my sons back in as it jammed after the very first 5 rounds going through it. They sent it back SCRATCHED and it still does not work properly AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THE SHIPPING. I purchased 3 the day I bought my sons. His is a wall decoration now and he never shot it again. I sold mine as it levered CLUNKY as heck and my daughter, although says she likes hers she has shot all sorts of things but has not shot hers ever again in 10 years. Say what you want and HOPEFLLY you have had better success with your Henry but I will NEVER buy their JUNK ever again.
@@williamjamesrapp7356 that is a shame as I received a brand new rifle. IF what you say is true, why not re-end it back to them.. One thing not understood is how is it you a private citizen can ship weaponry by mail that is unless yo8u have an FFL
One problem I’ve found with this model is that when injecting a cartridge the rifle has to be in the upright position or else the cartridge will not inject properly. The cartridge tends to fall out of line and jams up so it will not insert into the chamber if not reasonably upright. BTW I load my own with a slower powder to give it more velocity.
excellent gun !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just got one today. Put 50 rounds through it with .38 special. Love it
I love mine!
That's an awesome rifile.
Wonder if this would be a good coyote rifle and what would the effective range be ?
I have this particular Henry. I haven't shot it yet, nor have I even had a round in or near it. I could hang it on the wall and call it a piece of art, and it would still be money well spent.
Agree 100% Thanks for supporting our channel!
Beautiful rifle for show but also fun to shoot! I have taken mine out shooting a few times. I keep it clean and it never gets put down on a hard surface. At the range it gets cleared and put back into it's soft case.
