Thanks a lot buddy. it was my issue. I did as you showed but couldn't find the outlet next to the wheel so I used a strew in the sunroof inlet to be able to blow air with an air compressor. that worked and water started dripping! I tested the drain by pouring some water on the roof and I could see the water draining through the inlet and running out! excellent. problem solved. thanks again!

Ya I wonder how much they would charge me? I'd rather spend a lot of time figuring out leak myself and fixing it. I love the weed wacker line snake idea!!
I unclogged the water channels onmy Lexus rx300 in less than 15 minutes. Shortly after, it rained hard for many hours. No evidence of any leak. Prior, the cabin would have a puddle of water on the drivers side within an hour. Thank you for the video. You saved me a lot of money...mechanics around here charge $135 per hour. Who knows how long it would have taken them to figure out the problem.
Just bought a 2009 cts yesterday. We had rain all the way home. I noticed the driver side rear floor was full of water. I followed this walkthrough and both driver side drains were plugged. I can’t thank you enough! You saved me alot of money and time bud.. 👍👍
EXCELLENT! GM should hire this guy! Just saved me over $150. More so, I love my CTS again. PS. WTF is wrong with Cadillac engineers for this lame excuse for a drain hose! Make is bigger and have it drain to outside!!!!
Thanks Joe! Wow.. I think you saved my CTS. I was about to unload it for a loss. I'm not that handy but followed your directions and was so happy to get soaked with the clogged drain water! Now I hope I can dry out my car soon enough to avoid mildew and mold or other damage. Thanks again! Rick
Perfect.. thank you. Stepped into the car last night after a downpour and thought, omg I left the window open... Nope, the drains were clogged. Your solution did the trick. There was some gunk in it and took a few snakes through to clean it out. Thanks for making the video.
Thank you so much for this cool little hack! 2007 Jeep Commander limited 4.7L this worked 100%! I never got the trimmer cable .095 to get all the through from either end (felt like I ran into the same 45 degree angle), I patiently went as far as possible from top and bottom of drain tubing. We did noticed a black muddy looking substance on the trimmer line, when we pulled it out. Afterwards the water flowed down the drain tubing like its supposed to, straight out to the ground. No compressor, but I ran warm soapy dish water down the tube, as a degreaser, followed by clean water. Suggested preventive tip: When washing vehicle, try to avoid wiping and dirt or debris towards the drain openings.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you 😊 I appreciate the drain cleaning tips. The weed eater line is a great idea 💡 I'll be doing this tomorrow on my wife's Cadillac SRX. It's leaking in the same way you described.
I have had this problem too. I like your approach from the bottom. I used weed wacker line from the top and compressed air. The tube can easily disconnect near the sun visor so one must be careful. Great video. Can you show how to unclog the rear drains ?
Thanks for the comment. I was hoping to avoid using air for that very reason. Unfortunately I am unable to show the rear drains as I no longer have the car. Good luck and thanks for watching!
Excellent job!! Thank you. You even answered the reason why you didn't stop at the top down with the trimmer line. Only question I had is how do you do the 2 rear tubes. Where is the beginning of the tube for the rear?
@@1shugtown Yes I do. I have some hoses that fit my air nozzle and into the drain holes. The air blows out the stoppage. You have to repeat every now and then.
Thanks for the video I have a 2011 Cadillac DTS and it's leaking around the center console on the roof I'm hoping it's coming through the sunroof and this will fix it
If the water is in the back drives side floor would it be the drain running toward the back on driver's side? Also, I bought some closet line wire, I know it fits in the drain but do you think it would be too thick to go around the 90°, if my car has one like yours?
Every car is different, and you will have to do trial-and-error to figure out which way to go (top to bottom, or reverse). BUT you CAN make things worse with weed eater line. As you did say, it is RIGID. So as you are pushing it along, you could also push your drain hose RIGHT OFF ITS CONNECTOR! :( :( :( So it's best if you can push from the underside to the top. But even that has potential to dislodge connections because in some cars, the drain hose connects briefly to a molded plastic hose (to get around certain structures or route a very specific way), and you can still dis-connect one side of the connection to the plastic bridge. In my vehicle, parts of the drain hose actually run horizontally (wtf GM!) and can clog easily because of that. Also, check the bottom grommet/exit as it may not be an open hole but rather have a restricted/molded rubber "X"-shaped opening... If that is the case, you will need to remove the grommet and use either a drill bit or an xacto knife to cut out the rubber tabs making the "X" shape so it is a round opening (again, GM, wtf!!!!). But if you push the hose off a connector, you might be taking your headliner off to re-connect the hose. I'd suggest using a flimsy line, like thin-guage speaker wire, first before weedeater line. Less likely to do more damage, and you can also fray the ends of the wire a bunch and create a wire brush to really clear out the lines. BTW, be careful with compressed air as that can easily blow off hose connections too!
Thanks I will try it this weekend. going to cancel my appointment at the dealership. but one question, I am i only getting a puddle ( well real damp carpet under the driver side floor mat) every time i take it to a car wash. please any help will be useful. Thanks again
wow thanks joe this video was really helpful i didn't know what to do . Nomore with all the water from the rain and from washing my cts i had to even stop washing my car because of the smell from all that water it really work. Now do u know y is the water going in my doors ?
Water can go in the door mostly for two reasons: 1. the vapor barrier behind the door car (trim panel) is not sealed or has a hole in it (or is missing) 2. the door to body seal is missing or has a fault like a cut in it. In both cases find the problem and repair or replace the part. You can usually seal up the edge of vapor barrier using 1/4" butyl rubber strips: get it slightly warm, say 85š° to 95°F, and press it into place around the edge of the vapor barrier, between it and the door. Flatten it out with the door card as you replace it. Some people like to clean all the old butyl rubber off before replacing it. Some cars may have a different system or no vapor barrier at all

For some cars sure. I addressed that in this video that the end of the tube on the outside has a 90 degree bend, and it was much easier to go from the outside for this car. You car might be different.
Vacuum, make then end of the vacuum tiny like in cone shape with tape and whatever you can find like a funnel and pull the gunk out with the vacuum. May or may not work, also maybe pour in hot water thru the top to help it get loose, you may have to repeat the process.
Hopefully this is my problem. Roof was lealimg and floorboard was soaked. I didn't test it before I started to snake it. But I snaked from the top. Buick wanted 165 just to tell me what t the problem was. Twin cost 2.97 at home depot.

Why would you not do it from the top? and avoid having to take the wheel well cover off?
It may work best on other cars, but in the Cadillac there is a sharp bend at the bottom. It worked a lot easier fishing it through the bottom.

In theory it will work for any car that has a drain tube. I would assume that your car would have the same setup.
You can go in through the interior it’s probably easier that way
For some cars sure. I addressed that in this video that the end of the tube on the outside has a 90 degree bend, and it was much easier to go from the outside for this car. You car might be different.

Mold, rust, smells, all kinds of terrible things.
It gets things wet that aren't supposed to ever be wet.
