i love nike and i absolutely adore the alphaflys but these videos do the shoe absolutely no justice. i want to know more about the shoe and i dont wanna see faux enthusiasm from someone who really doesn't know much about the technology or significance of these shoes
This interviewer is quite awful...half the video is just her saying "oh", "okay", "wow", and so forth... I would much rather read the information from a text, than hearing her interrupting everything that the person actually involved with the shoe says...

The "percent" of energy return is a little confusing. What would be the "percent energy return" of running bare foot? What defines energy return and what would 100% be defined as in theory?
I got u homie. Running barefoot would result in much of the energy transferred to your biomechanic absorption system. Think of this as the energy traveling from the fatty tissue under your skin to the connective tissues and bones and joints. Most of this energy is absorbed into our bodies and dispersed. Because the energy travels through a shoe first, foam or zoom air pods are able to take the energy they absorb and rerelease it because they have compression factors and pressures that cause the material to want to return to its original shape. We can never theoretically reach 100% because our body is always going to take in absorb/disperse energy to our bodies rather than back through our feet. But, to answer your question 100% energy return would mean that if we exert 300lbs of downward force into the ground, we would receive 300lbs of force back out through our feet. Hope this helped!

I never would have thought to put a zoom bag of any kind in a track spike, except for maybe in a 10k spike. I wonder how much of a difference it would bring in terms of comfort for those shorter distances.

Lucas Liu that shoe model already exists: it’s the zoom all out, which has a full length zoom air pod. It definitely does not return 90% energy because it needs to be stable, and the foam around it is not as soft... resulting in a poor performance shoe
Too heavy
Many people thought that setup was way too unstable for running, and some even felt it was off putting just to walk in. Personally, I think the Zoom All Out is a great feeling casual shoe.
I had that shoe, and yeah it was so unstable, and hard to run, as the toe section was not even zoom, it was cushlon.

There has to be some science on the color of the shoe and heat transfer from the road and sun. Although it may be marginal, I’m guessing that using bright, light, or even reflective materials would be optimal. Then IIAF bans bright colors
