Hi my husband and I really enjoyed your video. We are elderly and would love to make our own traps. We love to go crabbing. Yellow and red usually catch more than dark green or black
Yea I'm gonna make some red traps I heard the catch the best and everyone say the yellow don't catch. But the combo of both might do good.

Hi Mr. Crab Cartel!! Would you be so kind as to show how you attach the zinc to the trap? I have two traps behind the house here in the Banana/Indian River Lagoon and tried to attach the zinc using the steel wire that sticks out on each end. Mine look like a two year old trying to tie shoe laces!!! I can never get a nice tight wrap on the zinc wire when attaching to the trap. Thank you. PS. When we were kids we'd catch crabs when my cajun grandmother would gumbo - those were the days!
Sure I can post a video showing how I attach my zinc to the trap stand by for the video. Also that Gumbo sounds good.

Yeah I went back to the old video and didn’t hear anything you said about the size of the wires mesh gauge
I don’t mean the size of the cage or the crab trap but the gauge of the wires
The wire gauge is 16

Awesome video! I subscribed. What size hog-rings are you using? Same for the whole trap? After looking into the cost of the materials and seeing what goes into building one, I see why they cost what they do at the local bait shops!
I will get you the size later today. Right now with materials going up it's close to $60 a trap now.
Thanks! Here in Southern Maryland the vinyl traps run ~69 unrigged unless you buy a bunch and get a volume discount. In maryland only commercial can run pots, or waterfront owners can run 2. The potomac has its own rules though and I can run 2 pots there without a license or 5 pots if I buy a $30 license. Crazy right? I usually just trotline 😂
I cut 10 traps out of one roll that's everything but the bait compartment and lid
