- Here I’m going through the steps of making my pinfish traps. I believe these are the best pinfish traps available for several reasons. 1. They are otter proof. 2. The way I have designed the entrances it holds bait if letting trap soak several days. Bait will remain trapped!!

One of the simplest and best minnow traps I’ve seen. I like cutting the entrance holes out of the solid piece in the bend and leaving the wiring intact between the holes. This leaves a sturdy entrance that remains viable and doesn’t have to be readjusted open with sharp edges. If you don’t have a hog nose clamp you can use zip ties but it looks like the hog nose clamps are better. Thanks for a video worth watching.
I love the homemade brake for bending your wire mesh. Less is more sometimes.

Where do you get the hog ring gun? I build mine 24” x 24” x 16 with an 8” x 4” x 16” baitwell. It will easily hold a 7lb box of tournament chum. Hands start to cramp squeezing all those rings. Great video! Awesome looking traps!

I found them on eBay years ago. Some guy was making the the piece the nippers go in. Haven’t seen one like it since. I stomp shear is a great option for big cuts

It’s Chinese. I found it on Amazon many years ago. It’s a half inch hog ring gun. It’s been great. Only had to replace the pusher which cost like 10$

They came together. Just a regular pair of wire dykes.
They are just channel lock brand dykes
I just looked at them you should make a short or a video on how to build the cutting tool
How big is your entrance for the fish?
Legal size for FL. It’s 3x1 there are 4 on the trap

Just curious why you call them pinfish instead of panfish.
Because they are pinfish. It’s a saltwater baitfish.

This is bunk. Pinfish wont go in black traps. Hot dipped galvanized is best. I live in Key West on an anchored houseboat and have tried both. Black wont work.
Lol every charter boat in Destin uses my traps. Only reason bait shops sell red traps is because when they are outside they act as a visual aid to people passing by. I assure you these catch the bait😂🤣
Also sell traps to multiple bait shops in the area. Lol nothing in their natural habitat is red
