Today I'm going to show you step-by-step how to paint this glowing tree in watercolor.
I am painting on Saunders Waterford Cold Press 140lb paper. I have my surface tilted to 35 degrees. I use a variety of brands of brushes. I mainly stick to a large mop, medium round and smaller synthetic brush with a point.
Here are the list of pigments on my palette:
Burnt Sienna
Cadmium Red
Cadmium Yellow Medium
Cerulean Blue
Cobalt Blue
Cobalt Teal Blue
Cobalt Turquoise
Lavender
Neutral Tint
Payne's Gray
Quinacridone Gold
Raw Sienna
Raw Sienna Light
Raw Umber
Rose Madder Permanent
Ultramarine Blue

I lost my passion for drawing a long time ago, but I've decided to start again and found your channel to be the perfect choice for getting back into watercolor painting. I find watercolors particularly enjoyable because they're more fun and not tied down by intricate details. Thank you for the inspiration!
I am amazed to see how naturally the sky is created with moving clouds, thanks.
You’re welcome! Thank you
How nice it is! Beautiful, clean, soft and healing ... I wish I could paint the light effect like this one day. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing this simple landscape painting and discussing/showing how to achieve it. Enjoyed watching you paint it and your discussion of how paint the sky and connecting the middle value shape.
Glad you enjoyed it
Beautiful thanks Matthew, greetings from Australia 🇦🇺.

Matthew, thank you, thank you. Every time I watch your demo's , I learn sooo much. You really give me the confidence to keep on deepening my understanding how to use this Medium.
Every word in this demo is like a pearl of wisdom for me. Thank you
Hi, Matthew! I’m brand new to your channel and am excited to try your techniques. I love this tree scene because it reminds me of the pasture behind my childhood home. There was an oak tree that looked like yours. It had a big ball of mistletoe that grew in it. Every Christmas season my brother would climb up and get some for Mom to hang up.
Lovely Matthew! Thanks for sharing this!
Gorgeous! I can’t wait to try this! Thank you so much!
You made this look easy! Thank you! 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼

Dear Matthew, I have been following your videos for a long time. Now, thanks to you, I started to enjoy watercolor more. I downloaded the pdf of your book and I want to start somewhere. The subject I lack the most is brushes. Which brush brand would you recommend me. And how many numbers they should be. And which kind of brush hair you recommend. I will be excited your reply. Thank you very much in advance.
I'm trying to start landscape painting and stuck every day not knowing what to do
Thanks. This seems like a great first painting
My version of this looks like a kids painting 😂. The sky looks good at least. My wet on dry technique needs help apparently
Heyup Mathew, can I ask what weight of paper you use ,and is it cotton rag?
I tried this but my Mop brush, Raphael quill size 8, might need to be replaced. Is there another mop you recommend?
