Thank you so much for sharing - your wisdom through words and your process for creating beautiful art. I so needed to hear what you had to say and share and I'm so grateful for having watched and listened. 🥰🙏
Ok, I am so interested in this, and love what you're doing here! I need lots of healing, physically and emotionally, so this is right up my alley!!... more, please!❤
Jessica! I love everything about this. Your end result is beautiful! And I loved you sharing your thoughts as you painted. I'm just really glad to have found you. Thanks for the inspiration!
I am grateful to have found your channel. I am always interested in how others work through their "expression" of emotion. I appreciate you sharing your process and the beautiful artwork that comes from that!
I do it for fun. If I did it for therapy or healing, I would be giving myself the message that I am sick, that there is something wrong with me. And I don't analyze while doing. I don't even think about me and my feelings. I just enjoy. Later self-knowledge comes naturally. Don't focus on yourself while being creative. Focus on the fun of creating! After the creation cools off, knock yourself out with the head stuff. But don't mix them. While creating, don't think. Just enjoy.
I respectfully and wholeheartedly disagree but that’s the beauty of art - we each get to define our relationship to it. I would beg you to ask yourself, “where did I learn that processing emotions, blocks and pain via art was only for those who have something wrong with them?” And “why would it be a bad thing for someone to identify wounds, blocks and inner narratives via the artistic process and who or what taught me that this was the case?” People heal for many reasons, not simply because something is “wrong with them”. It would be one thing if your comment said “for me art is the ultimate escape from feeling like there is something to heal or fix within me” I wouldn’t be so in opposition with your stance but you’ve implied judgement and shame with the perspective that we should “just enjoy the art”. Art is pain. Emotion. Joy. All the things. We don’t tell anyone what they should or shouldn’t do with their art process and we certainly do not pathologize someone’s process for healing through it. Art is the ultimate communicator for those who have struggled with expression or being validated in their expression. As a trauma therapist with 15 years working with people from all walks of life, and as someone with diagnosed CPTSD myself, processing via art has given me the ability to work with people who otherwise have no other safe outlet. Working through our inner world via art has allowed clients a safe process to work through thoughts and emotions that are otherwise inaccessible without the creative piece. There is nothing wrong with utilizing art for therapy and I appreciate that you don’t utilize art for looking within but there would be absolutely nothing wrong with you if you did. 🦋
Cool. Thanks. I wish I could afford paper like that. With oils I could get away with cheep canvases or wood but with watercolors cheap paper just won't work the same.
This paper is surprisingly not bad! I’ll link it in the description shortly but it’s from Amazon, “handmade Egyptian cotton watercolor paper”. I think I paid $30 USD for 25 sheets!
Thank you for this video. I love everything about it. I think I've understood one approach to intuitive Watercolor that is perfect for my watercolour journey. Also the Questions you suggest to ask oneself are genius. I can see it not only as therapeutic but just as much as a spiritual practice since the spiritual path also always leads us within.
I really think it’s a great idea To do this as an artist, -before or at the end of regular panting session. It Will help you feel less pressure to do it technically correct each time, and not forget why we started painting to begin with, for the fun ,and to express our self. I’m going to do this each time I start to paint, maybe a smaller scale ,do to time demands etc. Thank you ! You got a new fellower Your sincerely Ohn 🖌️ 🎨
Beautiful! Similar to a favorite style of mine that starts with that cling wrap on watercolor technique. Peal up when dry and then go to town with intuitive painting. So therapeutic. Than you!
I love this technique! I actually teach this technique in my alcohol ink book I published earlier this year but haven’t tried it with watercolor! Looking forward to trying it thank you!
Thank you for your post. I noticed that you don’t limit yourself to one medium; also I’m curious to check out your other videos. It will take me some time to process this current approach to watercolor. Of course this relatively short presentation took more than 12 minutes to complete, so the extra time on my part will be worth it. 5 minutes 36 seconds in- no regrets.
I love this video so much! Please make more watercolor videos! A lot of people have watercolor paint. And I noticed that your watercolor videos have really done well 😊. Did you make that paper yourself? Or can you pretty please tell exactly how we could order that exact paper? Thank you so much ❤
My guess is 100% cotton watercolor paper. Dick Blick or Amazon has good paper companies from India that produce a thick paper with that deckled edge. At this time of year prices are low. Use what you have first and keep it simple, otherwise you might get more frustrated. Hope this helps. I use non cotton paper and like it as it’s easier and less pressure. Love the quality paper as well 😊.
It might just mean this video wasn’t for you. The point wasn’t to help you to relax but if it does great! The point is to talk through the creative inner dialogue I have as I paint. If you’d like something more relaxing I suggest tuning into some of my more meditative painting content as it becomes available here! 🦋
Truly valuable learning experience for me, long time artist. Thank you for sharing your skills, insight and giving us your precious time. Just subscribed to your channel 😊 ❤️🙏❤️

@ I look forward to seeing that! (No pressure! 😆) I’ll bet it’s stunning with alcohol inks. Those colors are so yummy!
