Vanlife Canada - diesel heater failed AGAIN vlog #4

- Hey all! It’s me! In this video I deal with my VEVOR Chinese diesel heater. My last one (also vevor) had the same error 8 code and I couldn’t fix it so my friend Matthew over at VanlifePLUS on RUclips, gave me his spare one. This one also ran into the same error after only a month and a half of use. Watch me take it apart or que super dramatic music die trying.

Well Hello Amber! You've been missed. You're more of a natural than you think. There's nothing wrong with the rambling. Matt and Chrome are highly successful ramblers. Good job on the heater. See ya in a couple of months. 🙂
“See you in a couple of months” Ahahaha you understand me! Thanks for watching 🙏
Good to see u again ! fav u b❤
Hurray a video and congratulations on getting your heater fixed.
Ah, my patience paid off........ thanks for the video. Glow plug screen, and yes Matthew is having the same problem.....oh, I can't wait until the next video, thank you
Awww haha thanks for having patience with me 🙏
Hey Amber! Go to the Flying J and tell them that you are an expeditor and that you would like a professional driver card. I don't remember if you get diesel or gas but call the 800 number and tell them that you don't drive a big truck. Every time you fill up with more than 14 gallons you get half of a shower. Free showers! 💙
Ohhh? 🤔 I’ll look into that thanks! And thanks for watching 😁
GOOD JOB AMBER!!! Doesn't it feel good to fix your own stuffs??? As I tell my girls in my troop, "When you put your mind to it you can do anything!" I know you don't need me telling you this but I'm so proud of you-GIRL POWER!!!
Sarah Rose! Hi! It definitely does feel good 😊 thanks for watching!!
Practice makes perfect amber
Do what makes you happy and we
Will follow
Job well done getting your heater going again and successfully making a video about it. You rock girl. We are just our own worst critics. Takes time to get used to hearing ourselves talking. Don't stop keep doing what you are doing. Always nice to see you, love your simplicity listening to you feels as if I was sitting chatting with a good friend. You can't be more natural. Give yourself more credit. You do you. Some may have more of a story telling voice and style, doesn't mean they are more interesting to listen to. Be brave be real and keep on smiling. You hold the cards to your success.
Much love 🤗 🤗
Hi hiii ☺️So sorry for the late reply! Thank you for your kind words 😍🙏 I really appreciate that you think I look a natural and it’s like your chatting with a good friend. That’s very sweet 😊
Good video. This is what we want to see, normal van life situations. Keep it up.
Hey Amber! Great to see you upload. Don't see you much on Matt's Channel, but I knew you were busy. Just do your thing. Everyday life isn't as boring as you think. Being yourself is interesting enough. Look, I know it's difficult "composing" a shot the way Matt does it. Worries about camera angles and how he's going to get what he wants in a frame. But, you don't have to do that. Just set up the tripod, put it in wide angle and let it record. You'll get more content that way, and all we want is your real life and how you're making it work. Or not work. ❤ Ya. Keep at it.
BTW, it made me laugh when you were describing your Starter problem. I had the same issue with a 1980 Subaru years ago. So me and my buddy go to a Ford dealership and I'm going to trade it in for a new Bronco II. The guy gets in it to take it for a test drive so they can cut a deal, and he turns the key. It grinds and my buddy tells him it's an "anti-theft" device, and all he has to do is move the gearshift back and forth 3X and it'll start. He does it and it works! He goes off, and he's gone for an hour and a half. He comes walking in and tells me it got stuck a few blocks away and the anti-theft device is broken! Hahaha. I had to fess up. I ended up getting a Jeep Cherokee at a Jeep dealership instead. 😂
Welcome back Amber, and good job.
I keep picturing Matthew handing you the wrench in his older videos and telling you to do it yourself.
I guess that paid off, 'cause now you can.
Amber you rock! So proud of you. Love the rambling as well. Just do it make videos. It will get easier as you go. 😊
Yehaaaaa you fixd it 👍👍😉, super cool super real and super Work 😊. Cant wait for the next Video from you , keep it up stay Positiv and have every Day a good Day 👍 big Thump up, and very nice Greatings from Germany too 😊
Hi Amber, It's great you resolved your heater issue without getting Matthew or Bruce involved. Keep it up, and hopefully to see your next video sooner!
So glad you put out a video. Please don't wait 2 months for the next. I understand the ice cold in the AM and not wanting to leave the burrito blanket. I will be a pro come next fall when I get my heater after watching all these diesel heater repairs. Seems like they break down lots.
Glad you fixed it!!!!!!! 👍
Yes you definitely have to have lots of knowledge in these darn little heaters cause they’re not built like they used to be. Need lots of maintenance for sure. Thanks for watching and supporting my channel 🙏😊
Good on you Amber. You persevered. Sometimes that's all you need to do. Jumping into the unknow is not easy for most of us. I hope this experience has boosted your confidence.
The Vlog was perfect. 👍Keep it up and it will become second nature in no time.😃💗
Thanks chuck! Because I don’t post a lot I still get that feeling of insecurity when it does upload but after seeing everyone’s lovely comments it’s been very nice 😊 thanks for watching and for the support!
Amber, you are great! I love that you are YOU, not fake. Keep on, girlie!
Yay my Amber! I'm so proud of you for fixing your heater and making it into a video for youtube. Well done! Much love and hugs
Hey my Ruth 😍 thanks darling! We should chat soon!
@HappyCoffeeVanlife absolutely, call or let me know when it would be a good time to visit. I will make a trip to where you are and we could grab a coffee when you have time. Anytime before the middle of April...I fly to Cuba on the 15th.
Good to see you, Amber. No, it's not easy doing a vlog, which is why I don't do one. Especially if you work full time and riding to Matt's rescue.😉
You're becoming quite a mechanic, well done, WTG.
Please don't leave it so long for the next vlog, no pressure. 😊
Love your volgs ❤
Haha wait until Matthew’s new vlog today! One step closer to working on my own vehicle 💪 thanks for sticking around and for the support 😁
@@happycoffeevanlife Awesome job on Regina 👍
Ain't no body dope as Amber. She's dressed so fresh so clean (So fresh so clean clean). People stare, Matthew screams Cus we saw Amber in her first shower scene. Yeah Amber's just so fresh so clean (So fresh so clean clean).
😂 👏🏻 awe thanks Nancy that’s awesome
@@happycoffeevanlife The second you said I feel so fresh and clean, the song So Fresh So Clean from OutKast popped in my head. That song keeps playing over and over again in my head.
Hi Amber, I discovered you through Matt's channel. Sorry to hear about your starter troubles. In case it helps, a car/van starter is essentially an electric motor with a little clutch driven by a solenoid (think of a little piston that pushes using an electromagnet) to connect and disconnect the starter from the engine. When you turn the ignition or use a remote starter to start your car, current is first sent to the solenoid which pushes the starter gear into engagement with the starter ring connected to your engine and then the starter motor is given current to spin it up. The starter needs to disconnect from the engine otherwise when the engine is running, it would be spinning the starter constantly, wearing the starter out very quickly. If you hear high-speed-grinding/loud-starter-screech, that's the sound of the starter gear teeth slipping against the starter ring connected to your engine because the solenoid is trying to push the starter gear into place, but can't push hard/fast enough to fully engage the starter gear into position before the starter motor spins up to speed. This typically is a sign your starter solenoid is failing. If that's the case, you likely need a new starter as you cannot easily replace the solenoid separately. Sometimes if you're in a jam, and the starter is accessible, you can tap the starter which occasionally gets you a start or two more out of the starter to limp you somewhere. But ultimately it needs to be replaced sooner rather than later. Safe travels.
Ohhh I see I see 🤔 thanks for the info and for watching!! 😁
Thanks for the content! Post some more to stick it to Matt for giving you a hard time for posting so infrequently 😜
Oh, and to help visualize the problem. Check out this video. At first he tests the solenoid by giving it power directly. You can see how it pushes the starter gear outwards so that it would engage with the starter ring attached to the engine. And then he runs it like it would normally, where he connects the post to push out the solenoid and then the post to run the starter motor. I bet if it were your starter, the pushing out functionality from the solenoid is the issue.
ruclips.net/video/HiNek1DIBY/видео.html
@@sinl7030 Wow! You explained that perfectly! On the older vehicles, the selinoid was easily replaced and was LOTS cheaper and easier than replacing the starter...guess they figured out that one😒 Have a great day!
@@charlene5461 Indeed and thank you! Back in the 70s and earlier, it was more common to have a starter that would have a solenoid that could be replaced separately. By the 80s, it was becoming more and more common to have the solenoid integrated into the starter. And now it's the only way for typical road vehicles.
Hi Amber! Never apologize for being busy & having a full time job. I absolutely love your hair! I’m a member of the blanket burrito club(I’m in NJ). Installing a heater in my jeep wouldn’t be a good thing. I will let you use my favorite saying-I’ll see you when I see you. Sending you lots of hugs and love!!❤️❤️
🍟🍔
FRIES! *catches* lol I actually just finished eating Wendy’s fries so perfect timing 😂
I love your painting on the ceiling, and the color of the interior makes your eyes POP! Heck yeah, you fixed the heater! Great job girl 👍 👍
Thanks so much 😊 i actually didn’t paint the ceiling, the previous owner did but they definitely did a beautiful job for sure 😍
Great job Amber , that was inspiring 👍. I love the new hair style , very flattering !! And your commentary was informative and REAL. You really should do more videos, even if only for us novices starting out 😎
My older Brother Dan used to crawl under his cars, and beat on the starter with a hammer. He was a bus mechanic, so he kind of knew stuff. Enjoy your channel - regards, and bless
I don't mind the rambling. Was happy to see a new post.
Congrats on fixing our heater.
I love the rambling, had a bad day but this video cheered me up!
Very well done, Amber - both the repair and the video. Cheers!
Good to see you uploading again - congrats on the successful repair! Hope it is still behaving itself… Also hope that you made sure to tell Mr Allen-Wrench that you fixed it all by yourself. Maybe you can go show him how it’s done on his now 😂. But MOSTLY hope to see you put up another vid soon!👍🏻
Thank youuu! And hahaha I’ll definitely show him how it’s done *rolls up sleeves*
Good job Amber, fix a diesel heater, way to go!! Strong Canadian women can do just about anything. Good to see your back 🎉🎉
Lord, girl! You remind me so much of me at your age. (You poor thing.) Mom called me a dizzy dame.
Yay! You got it done!

Good job! Don't know if I could have laid on that ice to fix it! You are better than me.
You're definitely more relaxed in front of the camera now. Good on you for fixing your heater girl!😎 Thank you Amber for taking Matthew to the hospital and driving him around, you're a true friend and a sweetheart!💞
Hey girl, so excited when I saw a "Happy coffee vanlife" upload, lol, good for you, so awesome you fixed that heater all by your self!!!, that's the stuff that makes me feel Soo good when I actually accomplish something I think I need help with!! Well Amber, you've earned yourself some McDonald's, lol!! Keep the vid's coming, we're all waiting!!! Good to see you again!!
🥹🙏 yes it definitely is an accomplishment and feels good for sure. Thanks so much for watching! I’m actually getting tired of McDonald’s *gasp* haha
Lol!! Perish the thought, no Mc'd's
@@happycoffeevanlife 😳😳😳😳 TIRED OF MCDONALDS!?!? Alright alien😠 What did you do with our Amber!?😠
@@happycoffeevanlife Good morning Amber! Hope you're doing well and winter is leaving you with sunny warm days!! Have a great day!

Glad you’ve got your heat going again😁I still have yet to even attempt mine since it failed last and your absolutely right cold mornings Suck !! 🥶🚐😅🤷🏼♂️
Hey Bruce! I think you should just to see what the inside looks like. I feel like they’re making these heaters cheaper. Can’t believe one doesn’t even last a season. Praise be to blanket burritos! 🌯
Great to see you!
Yay! You vlogged! You’ll get better at it the more you do it. I had a channel years ago and after a little while it got easier. Just have to practice and enjoy the journey while doing it. - great job figuring out the heater situation. Stay warm and look forward to seeing the next one. 🙃😁
Yay Amber! I'm so proud of you! You fixed the diesel heater!! Hopefully you can gain confidence to make more videos. You are not Matthew, he is not you. Do things your own way. You have your own style of creativity, which is fabulous! A van tour would be awesome...I love your colour scheme! Keep going! You got this!!!
Good to see you again been missing you on Matthews channel
Wow! Great job fixing your diesel heater. What a great feeling when you can do it yourself. Glad to see your back. 😊
Hi again, Amber! Congrats on the successful repair!! Your hair looks fantastic, amazing color and cut. Hey, I had an idea--you could do thrifting videos! Those seem to get a lot of views, including the 'haul' part. I haven't been thrifting in Canada in way too long, always fun to see what's out there up in the frozen north. ;-) Cheers and catch you next time!
There's Nothing Wrong with Getting Dirty To Fix Things That Aren't Working Right. A Hot Shower 🚿 Makes It All Worth It Once YOU Fixed It All On Your Own.

Yay!! It’s Amber!! Wondering how you were doing. Good to see you girl. 🦋❤️🦋
It’s great to see you finally make another video! Please don’t delete those videos to make room. Start uploading them for us to see. You worked hard on those.
We’re here to support you.
Great to see you back on the RUclips. Your ramble, as you call it is perfect. You make me laugh. All the crap that comes at you reminds me of every adventure in working on my autos. It seems like nothing will work out. But persistence is key. Just keep after it. Hope to see you again soon.
👍👍
Hello Amber…well done in fixing your heater…fingers crossed it’ll work.
Welcome back Amber good to see you again glad you got it up and running yay keep warm hope to see you soon❤❤❤
Good job Amber. I admire anyone who works on anything mechanical. Don't be so hard on yourself. People who complain about lack of video co tent should try to do it themselves. Take care and stay warm!
Hi Amber I'm so glad you did a video ❤ hope your heater is stays fixed love this video give us more 😊
Yay so glad you got it working !! 🌼🌺🌼🌺🌼🌺🌺🌼🌺🌼🌺🌼
Go Amber! You are a Superwoman!
To the victor goes the warmth! And that cozy feeling only DIY can gitcha. Congrats!
Hi Amber!!
Great to see a new video.
Kudos for getting the heater working. I hope it stays working.
❤Ralph
Thanks Ralph and thanks for sticking around! 🙏😁
Always nice to see your videos. I’ll look forward to more to come hopefully!
Yay! I’m so proud of you, Amber! You made your diesel heater work!
Glad your back Amber! Great video , so glad you fixed the heater and love your hair! 😊
I hope you do more videos! You're fun to watch, and I can totally identify with a lot of how you feel about making videos... I can feel your nerves when I watch ❤ Good on you for stepping out of your comfort zone! Keep going 👏👏
You fixed your heater, so cool!
Good to see you again, Amber. I have been gone from RUclips for the past couple months, as well. Ended up back in hospital due to my congestive heart failure.
Looking for an apartment, unfortunately, I have to get out of vanlife. Still living in it until I find something I can afford.
I am curious. What was that figurine you picked up? It so looked like Emporer Palatine from Star Wars. If it was, I have one as well lol.
Good to see you. Be well
💗🙏💗
Oh nooo I’m sorry your van journey will be cut short and that you ended up back in the hospital 😞
The figuring is from scream haha it came on the big cup you get at the theatre.
Welcome back girlie. Great job on the heater. Don't give up on videos.
It will get easier as you go on. Practice makes perfect. Don't give up
Awesome job Amber! And a great video too🎉
Hey Amber!! You did a great job, was your best video yet! Keep it up
Awesome job Amber! I totally get the nervousness, of putting out videos. I have social anxiety and it's hard. I found that doing live shows with friends helps, because your not alone just talking to the camera. I will love to invite you on my panel for my next live show. Let me know what you think? Lorraine from Traveling with Special Abilities
Hope your heater stays working now. You can't fix anything unless you make the effort and try, so good for you for taking it on. See, it's good that Matt made you change it out yourself last time. You knew how to get it out and work on it.
Good to see you post the video. Don't be afraid of posting vids or thinking they need to be all polished before you do.
It was good to see you posted a video. Congratulations on fixing your heater. The white smoke looks familiar. Hope to see more videos soon.
Welcome back... congratulations on your heater. Don't stay away so long...😊
Really enjoyed this video Amber! Not like some others who merely give us scenery shots and don’t say anything. I’ll subscribe if you post more! Even just once a month! You’re a real natural!! 👍👍👍
Good for you Amber! Girl power!❤
Amber! So happy to see you!
You are good. When it was smoking after you worked on it, I was yelling to let it run. lol
Hi girl, its so great to see you...Woo-hoo you did it..always knew you had it in you when ya put yo mind to it👊
Don't worry about the time between videos. We enjoy them all the same. Ever think of getting the free UFA card. Can use debit/credit cards at their fuel stations plus access to their complementary showers. They are not as fancy though.
Great job on fixing your heater and your new video. I wish I had half the confidence that you do to talk on camera. One day my small group will see me. Just keep doing what you do and get better at this youtube thing.
Thank you so much 😊 confidence will built 💪
Great to see you back....Ramble away 😊 we enjoy your videos.. we want more please👍
More people should binge watch. No delay, no not seeing you. its great. Heaters seem to be the biggest issue for No Mads. Which in Canada is kinda important. Jiggles, rambles, do you. That's why we are all here. I ramble, but that part of my BPD. SQUIRREL is huge in my life. For someone attempting, your doing pretty good job. Getting things done. The thought of taking apart a diesel is scary as S&(T. brain goes to what if I F it up. You are the first female I have seen fix their diesel heater. Do you know what you have just done for alot of us females. YOU did YOU got dirty, You celebrated . OMG the satisfaction I felt when you did it could not compare to yours. Amazing 💥 safe travels
Hi, good to see you. Pretty hair, like it.
You'd probably work me to death if I was close. I'm a Mr fix it on most things. Very mechanical mind.
Anyway, still watching vid. :)
Ok done. Woo. Congratulations on the what happened!? Fix. :)
My jaw was dropped when I saw you taking it apart. My bad, I don't equate pretty with tools and dirty hands. I know... My bad.
You are probably a blast to have as a friend. Your smiley, spunky, full of honest life. Your real. You did a great job on the video. Keep them coming. Just do a video you want to do. Not what we want necessarily, and we will watch. Because it's you.
You have a big heart and are very cool. Don't read anything otherwise.
Awe thanks so much! And haha yup I definitely would bug for mechanical advice and such. I love tinkering around in my vehicle but it was a lot easier when I had my dodge caravan because I could actually get to things haha thanks for watching and the support 🙏
What !!! Hello Amber 😊
😆 👋 hello
So glad u fixed ur heater. Congrats!
Welcome back girl
Hey you work full time we can't expect a video two a week or once a week. Four videos a week is for the nomads
Thank you 🙏
You’re doing great... I could never talk just into a camera
Hi Amber, I had the same problem, always error E08. In the end it was the pump that didn't work properly. The instructions say to mount it at 30-45 degrees and I then mounted it horizontally and I haven't had any problems since. Warm greetings from Germany
So Great to get a Video from you Amber... Gee Girl you are a Natural at Utube Please Keep the Videos coming 👍👍👍
Love your Hair. Way to Go on the FIX...

Hi Amber, great video! Maybe you could do a blooper reel of some of the videos that didn't work out to free up your phone storage 😊❤
