  • Listen to Chopin’s “Fantaisie Impromptu” played by Daniil Trifonov. Daniil Trifonov's new album contains Chopin's two beautiful piano concertos in fascinating new orchestrations by pianist-conductor-composer Mikhail Pletnev. Alongside the concerts Trifonov presents Chopin's solo works and pieces by Mompou, Schumann, Tchaikovsky, Grieg, and Barber paying homage to the genius who, in Trifonov's words, "revolutionized the expressive horizons of the piano."

    Daniil Trifonov is an awesome pianist. I cannot imagine anyone playing this pieces as brilliantly as he does here. Every note is crystal clear. BUT WHEN are video-makers going to realise that when a virtuoso piece is being played, one of the great pleasures for piano-lovers is to see the fingers at work??? This video was so frustrating because it made the music seem like a mere background to the rather muddled dramatics. It makes me wonder whether video producers are genuine piano-lovers at all! Thumbs up for Daniil' thumbs down for the production.

    Why so many dislikes? His performance was insightful, exciting, and technically flawless (as always). The cinematography might unsettle more conservative viewers, but I found it refreshing to see something different to the usual piano video. RUclips is an audio-visual medium after all, so it's great to see the latter component given some real consideration.

      francisco malaca The thing is, this is his interpretation. He wants you to feel everything he plays and make you dream the story he imagines. The way a piece of music like this differs from one to the other is the authenticity- the interpretation. You can imagine whatever you want when you hear the piece but don't take away his right to interpret it his own way.

      You may be right, gdmoore. I find it bizarre that Trifonov (one of my favourite present-day pianists), having collaborated with an imaginative filmographer, should have such an unfavourable likes:dislikes ratio.

      Luke Faulkner Again, don't presume that the people who dislike the video aren't A) fans of Trifonov and/or B) fans of adventurous classical music - videos. I personally love Trifonov and rate him first among his generation. I also love artists that put a greater emphasis on video direction.
      I find this video to be tacky. His playing is magnificent but we already KNOW the boy can play.

    Daniil Trivonof is undoubtedly I want to say the best of his generation - his technical skill ,interpretation is flawless, his style is natural, when he plays it’s effortless and masterful,
    I can just imagine the amount of effort he puts into becoming such an important pianist-
    I will take my son who is currently studying piano with Dr Kennard at Stetson University and hope to go on to Curtis when he turns 18 yrs old or perhaps next year 2025 if God allow- to see Daniil perform in Houston TX 10/24, my son practices piano every except the sabbath hours for at least 5 hours daily and yet it’s not enough

    ahhh those little head shakes when you have too much emotion.. This is by far the best performance of Fantaisie Impromptu and an amazing video. Trifonov is pure talent and he feels the music to his bones. Who ever does not like this video have serious problems.

    Possibly the most technically skilled pianist alive, but also has profound understanding of the music. A surprisingly rare combination.

    • @lordleo9047
      @lordleo9047 6 лет назад +22

      I’d have to disagree with both those statements, his technique is “swagless” and elementary although he often falls under the Lang Lang category of classic overexpression

    • @TB-ih7bg
      @TB-ih7bg 6 лет назад +9

      Lord Leo you’re comparing him to Lang Lang? He is incredibly technically skilled though. Lang Lang is not. The fact that you can’t se the difference is rather telling. Over expressionism? Well again I don’t think Trifonov’s exact and perfectly conceived expression with all of its vivid colors is in any way similar to Lang Lang’s ad hoc distortions of melody.

      Evgeny kissin ? oops

    • @TB-ih7bg
      @TB-ih7bg 6 лет назад +8

      Kissin is very precise, but I don't think he's on par with Trifonov, especially these days. His proficiency has declined significantly. Hamelin is also fantastic, certainly the most dynamically capable virtuoso.

    Yes, We have been to his concert in Perth Western Australia. He was playing 1st Concerto Chaikovski.
    He is just an amazing musician. I have never seen such a gentle touch before. As someone has mentioned here after Trifonov you don't want to see any other musicians. I agree. There is definitely something about him.

    A few young artists out there are bringing great music to young people with videos like this one. In this ad for the new release Iove the scenario, the little "acting" (looking around to see the place is safe) at the beginning, the scenic fun. Thoughtful, evocative playing. It's also something to watch this young man grow up physically since in the public eye. All that is minor, though. The musicianship is remarkable, the technique awesome, the heart getting greater by the day.

      Un my country ( Chile, South América) had a well respected pianist with more praise overseas than in his own country. He performed mainly Chopin’s repertoire… Claudio Arrau… he never closed his eyes… just looked calmly at the piano keys and his own hands. I couldn’t agree more with you Sir
