It’s a good step in the right direction, but I’m amazed by how many watches you’ve reviewed on the channel that come up so short on lume. The fact that watches $1,500 cheaper than this are going to be more legible in low-light conditions makes me question the value here, as well as any luxury timepiece that appears to phone it in when applying SuperLuminova. Do you have any insight as to why brands don’t go the extra mile here, especially with their “everyday” offerings? Love your channel!
I really like this new version and impressed with Longines in general with the quality. Picked up a preowend Conquest VHP non gmt quartz last year and have been very pleased with it as my daily, I believe it's 41mm as well. The new Conquest line looks more classy in my opinion and as far as the lume, I think it suits the design well. Reminded me of the lume on my sarb033, subtle and classy. Always appreciate your videos on Longines as well as other brands! Cheers
Thanks for watching everyone. Another point regarding the upgrade with this new watch and to give further context to the magnetic resistance is that this new Conquest is up to 10 times more resistant to magnetic fields of the ISO quoted standard.
Forgot to mention, would you be able to consider including in your case measurements and display of the watches you review on the wrist, the width of the wrist the watch is being displayed upon. This will give viewers a greater level of understanding as to the proportions and sizing of the watch relative to the wrist which will help us figure out how the watch will wear on our own wrists. Cheers.
That's actually a very good point that could be added to Teddy's overall stats. Or perhaps adding an "X-Factor" stat... this watch has very good anti-magnetic features, or extra good Lum or any little feature that stands above and beyond the competition within the watch-type and price point @@Laxinbbq
Think this hits the mark for guys looking for an everyday watch situated between the Tissot Gentleman and Omega Aqua Terra. 41mm case size is actually perfect for myself even though those lugs are 49mm (eeek!). At about two grand, this watch still feels attainable. Omega, and their two price increases this year, keeps getting further and further away from everyday dudes.
Your first sentence is so simply perfect. Chef's kiss! I recently got an open heart blue Gentleman, so this one looks like the one to get a couple of years down the line!
I share that opinion. 34mm is too small for most men, (I have a tiny six and a quarter inch wrist and it's too small for me), so the 34mm is likely only going to sell to women, which is a tiny market. Somewhere inbetween, such as a 38mm would be a much more appealing size to a wider customer base. I suspect they'll sell hardly any 34mm, and would sell significantly more 38mm. Offering a larger size as they have is a great move, there are lots of large wrists in America, increasingly elsewhere too. They've just picked the wrong size for the smaller version. In my opinion.
I have the older model Conquest, identical to the one Teddy shows in this video. The "ridiculous 300 meters of water resistance" was actually my reason for buying that watch. I liked the idea that a handsome everyday watch that I could wear on most all occasions was also as super-tough as a dive watch without the bezel style. I wanted a watch that I need not worry about on any occasion - even to the point of being ridiculous. The new Conquest seems to give up that butch flavor without substantially reducing the thickness, and now looks like a generic clone-ette of the new colorful Omega Aquaterras. All at a lower price than the equivalent Omegas, but at a substantially higher price than the Conquest model it replaces.
I have the older version too. It's the go to when I sail. The new 2023 is nice sure, but I just can't.... the thousand dollar increase is too much to stomach.
@@kabysummit5801 The quality manufacturers keep push the prices up into luxury territory, but what happens in a severe recession or depression and the bottom falls out of the luxury market?
@@kabysummit5801 Totally agree. I was looking for a watch with just indices, I'm not a big fan of the large '12' and '6' on the dial of the older model but the cheapest I can find the new one is £1900 while the older one costs £850 from the same jeweller. I'm not a collector or watch geek and it's a crazy price difference I just cannot justify spending.
We asked and Teddy delivered. I was looking at Omega Aqua Terra as my next watch but was hesitant on the price. I think this has taken over as the next piece I am going to acquire.
Longines can't help but hit it out of the park over and over. The Zulu time last year and the smaller 39 this year and now the redesigned conquest. They are on a roll
They are basically telling Tudor to bend over and grab the ankles. Meanwhile Tudor just released a black bay in yet another color (which is just a knock off of an old Rolex color they just found) yet of course Tudor fanboys will go on and on about how Tudor is killing it with more and more of basically the same ugly black bay releases.
Great review Teddy, This would be an excellent everyday watch alternative to the pricier aqua terra, oyster perpetual and even the date just. If they put out a 38 or 39mm in the future it would also be a very strong competitor to the Sinn 556 with the applied indices
I bought myself a Longines Conquest silver dial for my 25th birthday a few years ago. Probably the best €1000 I’ve ever spent, it’s just so classy and adds elegance to anything outfit.
The green is lovely and I like the overall update. Hell of a step up in price from previous model though. Will have to try one in the flesh but I suspect the 41mm might be a touch large for me. 37mm Spirit is still on top of the wish list for now.
One of my favourite releases of 2023. Something about them remind me a little bit of the Overseas, which is a grail for me. I'm considering picking one up with the brown dial. These watches are even more beautiful in person.
Loving Longines, I have the Longines master collection blue. This is going to be my next watch, longines seems to be my sweet spot for price and quality, as much as i want a rolex or Omega. Longines its just right for my price point
Love this comparison. Thanks for putting this together. The "old" Conquest was on my hit-list for a while now but this new release, regardless of the price bump and diminished WR, seems to have more to offer (for me). I like larger watches and 40-41-ish mm is right in my sweet spot although, I agree, it may be a turn-off for some. It's sleek, clean and balanced with an impeccable finish. Thanks for your insight on these two lovely watches.
Pioneers in watchmaking, Longines certainly know how to build a truly magnificent timepiece. Really like the brown version here with it's slightly slimmer case.
I have the old model, and what a lot of people see as faults in its design I see as kind of…charming, I guess? I think it’s much better looking in the metal than in photos and the blue dial looks incredible on a cloudy day
I still prefer the look of the previous gen Conquest only because of the bulky and prominent build that it has... The huge numerals is quite an eye catcher for some and some can quickly identify if it is a Longines from a distance (I would know since I have said hi to some wearing them in the wild).
Bought my first ‘expensive’ watch to celebrate my engagement. Longines Master collection - it’s amazing how it makes me feel. Think I’ll always like what Longines does as a result
Another great video Teddy. I kind of liked the old dial better. A little more simple, and on an everyday watch, simple is better. The bracelet looks much improved tho. They make a great watch for the money. I love my Longines and bought my dad one too.
Longines did a treat job with this. Elegant, solid, great movement, high finishes. I've seen the 34 and 41 and for my small wrist (6.2) there is no right offer at the moment, I think they will expand to 30 and 36 mm in the next months and this will become a great watch GADA. thanks for the video❤
I recently purchased the older style conquest in 39mm blue dial. There are great deals on the older style with many dealers offering them at a considerable discount. Whilst I like the new direction, I am not convinced they offer the same bang for your buck. Longiines are or appear to be trying to exit the entry level and making the moves to mid tier. Any which way I'm happy to have been able to own and experience what is to me a very expensive luxury, I am a fan of thisd brand.
Having been looking for the best "intro to luxury" watch for a while now, I think this has just ticked every box I've had. I was hoping to go shopping this weekend with an open mind, but that's no longer likely. Thanks for the timely review!
This new Conquest really caught my attention. I just love the symmetry of the date at 6. A perfect do-anything go-anywhere kind of watch to compete with the Aqua Terra or the Datejust. I just wish that it had the deployant clasp from the new Hydroconquest GMT instead of the butterfly clasp.
My wife has bought me the Blue dial Conquest for my birthday. I absolutely love it. Up there with my Rado's and Tissot. I love watches with batons and an un fussy face. This is a perfect dressy watch. Highly recommended at around £2,000
I was very excited about the Conquest refresh. Now I'm glad I bought the previous gen. No more 43mm case available, 1/3 the water resistance, and almost twice the price. I'm not seeing the "upgrade"
Can’t beat gold polished Roman numerals that sparkle like jewels in the sunlight. Loving the sun ray dial man that pops!AMZWATCH watches. What a beautiful subtle piece.
I love Longines, by far my favourite watch brand. I don't know what it is, it's low profile and elegant, it's luxury yet good value, it's flashy but still classy. I love their watches. My parents recently brought me back a 41 mm Hydroconquest from their vacation to Zermatt Switzerland and it has not left my wrist, and I have a Tudor also FYI. If you're looking to enter into the luxury watch world this is the pick. Thank me later.
I got to try on the new blue 41mm Conquest the other day. It really is a nice wearing watch, and a big step up in design and refinement over the previous version. The way the ring around the dial plays with light is a unique touch too. This is definitely a more affordable Aqua Terra type GADA watch. I think it really competes with watches like the TAG Heuer Carrera 3 hand though. This seems like a better offering for 2/3 the money of the TAG. I do think it would be a good idea to come out with a 38.5 or so version at some point, but the lugs on this one are not really long like on the Spirit, so I think the 41 can fit quite a variety of wrist sizes. More lume would be nice, but I could see that compromising some of the design. At least they HAVE lume, unlike some Grand Seiko sport models that should have it yet do not.
I really like these, I was considering getting a Tag Heuer Carrera in the green but I really like these in the bigger case & they cost about $1000 less too.
I like the looks of a the hydro conquest with the 12,6,9 and it’s 300m rated. But I read their FAQs on their website and they said not to use their watch for scuba diving 🤔
I bought the green dial a couple of weeks after they came out and they look even better in person. I love my new Longines and now that the new Hydroconquest GMT came out I might have to get one of those as well.
Was really excited about updated models of this line! Especially because I was so baffled about some of the choices made previously (like the blue 39mm had no lume but the black dial did). But again, I'm baffled! This time by the sizes among other things! Love the case and bracelet design, but I generally don't dig a 41mm or a 34mm case size. 38 to 40 for me is best. Glad there's lume on the hands and indices...but wish there was more on both. Maybe slightly bigger indices, and a bigger wedge of lume on the hands. And couldn't they have given this 150m of WR? Then it could really have gone toe to toe with the Aquaterra.
Longines take my money!!!! these are just beautiful watches. Glad to see 41 mm size to really appreciate this type of watch, not a fan of the trend of small watches only. thank you Longines!!
I have the green dial Hydroconquest, and it is amazing! Longines make great watches. I had the older Conquest 43mm blue dial, and it was great but the no lume made me P/X for the Hydro. Shame as if it had lume, I would still have it. Great video Teddy.
Well not all dial colours seem to have a colour matched date wheel. I am not sure they did it on purpose to have a bigger contrast on the lighter colour models, but for me it makes these colour varients less rounded, even tho they are the more interesting colur ways.
Nice one ! Is there any rubber strap for this model ? Either from Longines of 3rd party ? I would love it on green rubber with rounded endlinks. Any ideas ?
I love it at 41. A great size for my wrist. But I've never been a fun of the see through case back. I don't need to look st the movement and will definitely forget about it while wearing the watch. It never has been or will be a deal maker for me. The ease of legibility and desire to keep it years from now are more attractive for me.
Thanks for the great review, Teddy. I’ve become more aware and interested in Longines as a result of your channel. This model is nice, but the previous version had its own style. Looking forward to hearing about the new Hydroconquest GMT!😊
An excellent option in the price range, with plenty of room in the lineup to slip in a 38mm next year. I liked the previous model, but this feels like an actual luxury piece. Longines continues to punch above its weight.
Yes it looks great, but it's almost double in price. I still love the previous model, especially the 39mm size. The thing I love is the exhibition back and the date at 6 instead of 3.
Very nice watch. Way better design in comparison with the previous version. This new one, along with the Spirit, is probably my favorite Longines in the current catalogue. Well done Longines, again.
I think the new model looks more elegant but the old one had more sport look. But considering the price increase I like the old one more, also looks more like a everyday watch compared with the new one. I wonder why I haven’t seen more videos about the Longines ULTRA CHRON, seems very competitive with other brands like Tudor.
Sharp looking watch. My wrist is 7.25 but would like a 39mm option since my other watches are >= 40mm. The brown and blue dials are my favorite but the black and green speak to me as well. I’m also curious to see this watch with a black or brown leather strap if that ever becomes an option. I also like how Teddy is not one of these watch snobs. I make really good money but have a family and can’t just drop $10,000 or $20,000 just for the sake of it. He has eloquent, realistic and logical reviews.
I like it and I hate it at the same time. Now it looks like oyster perpetual and aqua terra. The previous version gave it some distinctive look from both rolex and longines. I like longines as a brand and their products.
What are your thoughts about the Tissot gentleman in comparison to the new conquest? I realize there is a significant price difference between the two. Thanks.
top notch as always, Teddy! could you also cover Longines' new Hydroconquest GMT release? it looked stunning in the presentation and I for one am really curious if it wears smaller than 41mm, given its thick bezel. Keep up the good work!
Agree there should be 39mm option. My 39mm hydroconquest is perfectly beautiful on my 7" wrist. Longines tends to have longer lug-to-lug than other brands too, which accentuates the need for smaller case diameter.
I really liked all the improvements except for that step from the minute ring to the main dial. I can't really say why other than it bothers me. I do think everything else was an improvement though. Since I picked up a VHP Conquest recently, the Spirit is on my list next. This one, I will keep an eye on.
I prefer the old model I like the arabic numbers at 12 & 6 and the silvered numbers and hands on the blue dial really stand out, for the money of the new model I would pay a little extra and purchase a spirit which is COSC certified.
Thank you for the review. I have the previous 39mm blue version on a leather strap, and i like it even more after seeing the new version. The new version is too bland, too Aqua Terra in my opinion.
Great video. I think the price of this watch will increase sooner or later. It’s just a beautiful watch and looks sporty and classic at the same time. It really attacks Tudor and to some extent even the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra which is very expensive. The blue color of the dial of this Conquest is stunning 🤩 I definitely will buy this watch.
My only issue with the new design is that at a glance it looks just like the Tissot Gentleman (which I own) and the previous dial (using the Arabic numerals) set it apart. I like the overall new design, but should have held onto the Arabic’s in some way.
As an added note for those of you curious about the new Conquest 2023, the dial pulls design inspiration from the 1954 Conquest model while creating a sleek and modern look. The movement has also seen an upgrade featuring improved magnetism to combat the negative effects on timekeeping that encounters with magnetic objects can cause. What do you think of the updated everyday watch?
It’s a good step in the right direction, but I’m amazed by how many watches you’ve reviewed on the channel that come up so short on lume. Very disappointing. The tiny indeces are just HORRIBLE. Dial is bland. Looks like a very low rent version of an aqua terra.

Green dials are so hard to get right, that one looks amazing
I bought the green dial a couple of weeks after they came out and they look even better in person. I love my new Longines and now that the new Hydroconquest GMT came out I might have to get one of those as well.
My Conquest VHP is one of my favorite watches.
Green and blue 🔥 🔥
Blue is nice and safe. Green is rare
I just bought one from your store Teddy and love it
Was really excited about updated models of this line!
Stunning, stunning, stunning. I absolutely love my Spirit chronometer, it's my favourite watch.
Big fan of Longines, the brand is more popular in Asia than NA, but am glad to see more coverage in NA now.
Wish they kept the crown-guards of the old conquest, the masculine case was always the sellingpoint for me.
Well not all dial colours seem to have a colour matched date wheel. I am not sure they did it on purpose to have a bigger contrast on the lighter colour models, but for me it makes these colour varients less rounded, even tho they are the more interesting colur ways.
Was waiting for this video
Oh my, love the look of the new Conquest. Going to pick one up from your site Teddy. Longines is killing it!
Got the blue today and it is absolutely amazing. It was so easy ordering from your website! Thanks Teddy and Team!
Anything smaller than 40 is for girls anyway. There are a lot of feminine guys in here
The new Hydroconquest GMT looks stunning 🤩
Like a lot of others I hope there will be a 38mm. Recent form suggests Longines won't disappoint.
The green one is the absolute winner here.
I'm definitely getting one. Either green or white dial. This is a very nice piece to add to the collection.
Superbly professional presentation, as always Teddy. Much appreciated.
Thanks for the great review, Teddy. I’ve become more aware and interested in Longines as a result of your channel. This model is nice, but the previous version had its own style. Looking forward to hearing about the new Hydroconquest GMT!😊
The green and brown dial do not have matched coloring of the date disk? What is the reasoning?
I used to hate the conquest and hydroconquest, but now with this new dressy version and the New GMT Hydroconquest, I love it!!!
It reminds me of the VC Overseas… lovely looking watch. Thank you for the great review Teddy.
Waiting for the 39mm version. And, oh, for the price hike we are expecting COSC certified ones also 😅. Thanks for the vid, man.
Teddy what’s the move are we buying this watch
I like it and I hate it at the same time. Now it looks like oyster perpetual and aqua terra. The previous version gave it some distinctive look from both rolex and longines. I like longines as a brand and their products.
What are your thoughts about the Tissot gentleman in comparison to the new conquest? I realize there is a significant price difference between the two. Thanks.
It's nice and I like the date at 6 but I prefer the overall look of the previous generation.
I sort of wish they would have kept the 12 and 6. Will be great if 5hey just did a 38 mm
I picked this up in blue a couple of weeks ago. Its gorgeous! Its a blend between and aqua terra, with a touch of the overseas.
Gotta question, your rotor makes noise? I got the 41mm green and my rotor is not completley silent
Wow. So clean. Great shades of green and brown that are different from the traditional black, blue, etc.
The green is a total stunner.
top notch as always, Teddy! could you also cover Longines' new Hydroconquest GMT release? it looked stunning in the presentation and I for one am really curious if it wears smaller than 41mm, given its thick bezel. Keep up the good work!
That is a beauty - if I hadn’t bought a Zulu the new Hydro would be tempting- but I do think the price point is a little too close to the Zulu.
That's a very good offering from Longines
What is better this longines or the tudor 1926 ?!? For an everyday watch
what a great looking piece. great colours too. looks very VC
They did so good with the 37 mm Spirit and 39 mm Spirit Zulu models. Maybe they did not want to create competition between different model lines?
Great video. I think the price of this watch will increase sooner or later. It’s just a beautiful watch and looks sporty and classic at the same time. It really attacks Tudor and to some extent even the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra which is very expensive. The blue color of the dial of this Conquest is stunning 🤩 I definitely will buy this watch.
I wish they would have color matched the date wheel on the green. I may have to go for the black dial or go for the spirit zulu.
Longines is on my short list for my next watch.
I'm so pump for the Hydroconquest GMT ... i hope a video on this one too. And thanks foe this review.
Wasnt Glycine the first dual time wristwatch? Correct me if im wrong im learning 😊
Can use this braclet on hydroconquest ?
Can you recommend any Longines for a fellow with a smaller wrist? I think this one would be too big for me
This is gonna be my dream watch if they make it in 39mm 🙏
I tried this on in person and it is amazing. One of their best. But i wish it was 38mm.
Ok girl
My only issue with the new design is that at a glance it looks just like the Tissot Gentleman (which I own) and the previous dial (using the Arabic numerals) set it apart. I like the overall new design, but should have held onto the Arabic’s in some way.
